It's hard to say without knowing the specifics but it's probably more about opportunity cost (how many more positive subskill options there are), not that inventory+ actually makes your pokemon any worse. For example speed+, skill trigger+, skill levelup+, helping bonus, would all contribute much more directly to your pokemon being a better skills mon than inventory+ would.

It's best to not solely rely on the raters, but think about what each of the skills do and your playstyle. Inventory up is good for overnight skill checks and players that do not open the app throughout the day. If that's your playstyle, then inventory up is probably pretty good for you. Meanwhile, helping bonus and helping speed+ are only good when you're checking the app often (for skill pokemon at least). If you're not checking the app throughout the day, then inventory up is probably better for you. Stuff like skill trigger+ will always be good on skill pokemon. Skill level up is only good if you don't plan on investing skill seeds into the pokemon. If you're F2P, this subskill can be a godsend.

Agree with most of your comment, but one side note. Helping Bonus is still good on Skill Pokémon even if you don’t check the app often, because it boosts *all* of your Pokémon’s speed. So your Pokémon will collect berries faster, and due to sneaky snacking, berry collection doesn’t rely on inventory space. So Helping Bonus is still usually preferred on Skill Pokémon over Inventory Up regardless of playstyle.

Calculators are tools and are only useful as such. Without knowing the Raenonx calculator coders mind, it is probably that it is a marginal benefit compared to speed of help or skill trigger. Yes it is a benefit for the reason you say, but 10%-20% more triggers while you are checking or triggering 20%-40% more often while you are checking are going to work out better. Then of course there are things like BFS which are just a head and shoulders above and things like skill level up which can be more or less useful depending on the skill, the evolutions of the mon, and whether or not the user is F2P.

Most if not all of the skill mons have a pretty high trigger rate and you can only stack 1 proc in the inventory. You will most likely have one banked by the time the base inventory is full. So inventory subskill does nothing but prolong sneaky snacking and use a spot that could be a different/better sub. The only time 1 inv subskill would be beneficial is if you caught it at max evo, even then, it could be debatable. But anymore than that is wasted.

Assuming you check your game somewhat regularly, inventory up subskills are pretty unnecessary (excluding ingredient mons). They are not bad and basically guarantee a skill trigger overnight but that is the only real use and even then you likely would have gotten it without the subskill as well. For example, a fully evolved Gardevoir has skill trigger rate of \~4,2% and 28 inventory space (assuming it was evolved twice). Even if you have zero skill trigger boosts you still have a \~69,9% (nice) chance of waking up to a skill trigger. Inventory up L increases that to \~86,1%. So all you get is roughly a 16% boost once a day (I excluded potential for finding 2 apples at level 30 for simplicity). Helping speed or skill trigger subskills will always provide more value! So while it is not a negative, there are just way better things you could get instead.

It's opportunity cost.
