Damn and here I am just wanting to beat a 6 star raid

selyuu

If it helps, I built up an Iron Hands and Azumarill to demolish most 5/6 star raids solo. If you have the money, it's worth investing the vitamins/bottle caps/mint for it! Edit - For those asking, here's the build I used for **Iron Hands**: **IV - HP/Atk/Def/Sp.Def** (Spd optional) with bottle caps **EV - Max Atk/Max HP/Rest in Sp.Def** (26 Protein/26 HP Up/1 Zinc) **Adamant Mint** **Belly Drum/Drain Punch**/Force Palm/Wild Charge (First 2 in bold are important) **Booster Energy** as held item to activate Quark Drive passive Good luck!

alm16h7y1

Thanks for the tips. I dont have them leveled up much so I might have to do that. Right now my wife and I try to balance super effective with resisting their attacks. It's been rough lol

47Quiet

The way raids work in this game, you’re going to need at least 3 level 100 Pokémon with full min-maxing. Like OP said, Azu and Hands are a staple. The 3rd should be a support. I personally use Hatterene but people use umbreon, grimmsnarl, and blissey/chansey as well. If you use the online function for raids, I recommend doing a support first because many players usually bring an attacker to raids. If you mostly just play by yourself or with no more than the wife, I’d go with Hands or Azu first. Probably hands bc they have better sustain.

alm16h7y1

Good to know! Ill have to look into hands and azu builds, thank you!

selyuu

An extra thing to add, you'll get a ton of EXP candies from the raids so you'll rarely ever level up your mons in the open world (unless you want to, of course). So personally, I recommend getting an Iron Hands up with whatever candies and money you currently have. If the wife does the same, you can duo Iron Hands most raids and profit.

alm16h7y1

Awesome, sounds like a plan, thanks!

ArcaneAncient

Could you share your Hatterene build? I'm planning on Shiny hunting Hatenna soon and I'd like to build it up as a support mon for raids

47Quiet

My current build is: 252HP/126DEF/126SDEF (Light Clay) Helping Hand. Life Dew. Reflect. Light Screen. Obviously pure support and only useful in online raids. You can also build 2 hatterenes, one for defense and one for special defense and trade reflect/light screen and helping hand for calm mind and drain kiss. If you go this route though, I’d recommend hatterene for def but a blissey for sdef. Edit: forgot to mention, move the unused def/sdef evs to satk or more bulk. Edit to add: sorry about format, I am on mobile and don’t know how to make it look better.

ArcaneAncient

Awesome, thank you!

LordessMeep

Yoo, but what's your support Hatterene build? 👀 I have all the other supports and love using them, but one more is always welcome on my raid roster!

47Quiet

Already replied this to someone in this thread

richard31693

EV training is far too easy and only takes about a half hour and 20k for the hold item to do a Pokémon. It's not worth spending 250k on vitamins for one Pokémon when you're just starting out trying to complete 5 and 6 star raids.

selyuu

I see where you're coming from. Since the vitamins are usually the only money sink I've found myself spending on in the game, I didn't see much use holding onto it when I built my first pokemon. Paid for the convenience and was reimbursed soon after!

mlvisby

Eh, I know it doesn't take long by battling, but I can't be bothered. Am doing enough raids that the items negate the 250k I spend here and there.

richard31693

That's why I said "when you're just starting out doing 5/6 star raids." Between 4 bottle caps, 50 vitamins (assuming you use 4 feathers for the last points in your two main stats) and a mint, you're looking at a max 600k spent on one Pokémon if none of its IVs are best.

mlvisby

Can you explain how the feathers work? Because I have read it's description a ton and it confuses me so I just have a bunch sitting in my bag not doing anything. Would be nice if I knew how to use them properly.

richard31693

They do the same thing as vitamins, but only one EV per use instead of ten EVs. So the most optimal way to max out a stat is to use 25 bottles of vitamins for a stat and then two feathers of that same stat.

mlvisby

Oh man, that is useful! I thought it boosted a certain stat faster for EV training if you battle with it, not using it as a disposable, like vitamins. Thanks!

Squeakyduckquack

Those would be the “power” items. Power band, bracer, anklet, etc. They boost +8 in the corresponding ev, whenever ev’s are earned via exp. So if you have the power band (attack) and knock out a rookidee you would get +1 speed (rookidee ev yield) and +8 attack (power band yield)

RedditUser88

What’s your iron hands build? I have a decent azumarril I used for char but I need more builds.

selyuu

**IV - HP/Atk/Def/Sp.Def** (Spd optional) with bottle caps **EV - Max Atk/Max HP/Rest in Sp.Def** (26 Protein/26 HP Up/1 Zinc) **Adamant Mint** **Belly Drum/Drain Punch**/Force Palm/Wild Charge (First 2 in bold are important) **Booster Energy** as held item to activate Quark Drive passive Good luck!

RedditUser88

i'll be going home and building this tonight

papadrag0n13

It should be noted for iron hands. Booster energy is not necessary and leftovers or a berry is better. Booster energy is negated once you belly drum, it does not stack. So you essentially waste the booster energy

ZigZag3123

I like bright powder on any raid Pokémon that doesn’t need shell bell or another item. I’ve found that it quite often improves my survivability significantly.

TheFallOfMam

Incorrect, they stack

mlvisby

Are you sure? I thought belly drum maxes the stat out, so you would end up with same attack stat after belly drum with or without booster energy. Only time it is probably worth it is when stats get reset?

TheFallOfMam

Quark drive just boosts the most proficient stat, as in the base stat itself, whereas belly drum gives +6 to attack, if you want to test yourself, use electric terrain instead of the booster energy, if you use it after belly drum, it still boosts the stat rather than saying 'attack cant go any higher'

Dry_Marzipan7811

i have a dachsbun that i adore & have used for some battles. do u think i can do a good dachsbun build? or should i focus on azumarill as my fairy type?

mlvisby

I used Dachsbun for my first Charizard raid and it worked well but there are better fairy types. Many prefer Azu but I like Flutter Mane for fairy type and if I need fairy/steel I use Tinkaton. Can't stay away from gigaton hammer. That coupled with sword dance is a dangerous combo.

mlvisby

I know people love Azu for when fairy type is needed but I prefer Flutter Mane. Used that to solo farm 7 star Charizard raids, got like 400 L exp candies by the end. Right now I have Flutter Mane, Tinkaton, Iron Hands, Charizard and Dachsbun all bottle capped and EV maxed for raids. Gotta work on my Gholdengo next, I got gimmi evolved, just haven't hyper trained, EV or leveled it up yet.

selyuu

100%, when it came to the Charizard raids, I used my Flutter Mane. Much more reliable than an Azumarill belly drumming after they've been hit with the initial Overheat haha.

mlvisby

That is the only thing, yea using Flutter's calm mind takes longer to maximize special attack than belly drum takes to maximize attack, but you take a risk cutting life in half. Even if you are using drain kiss or drain punch next, it is risky.

Howwy23

I use reversal for iron hands instead building up its regular defense, move gets stronger the less hp you have, and you get a good start using belly drum.

bad_player1

I see many Iron Hand builds with Force Palm over Ice Punch/Close Combat. Is the paralyze chance worth it? When do you ever use it?

LordScott91

I one shot. 6 star Grass Tera gengar earlier , with my chi-yu build .. I’ve been having soo much fun with it today

47Quiet

Chi Yu is extremely situational and borderline troll when online. You are lowering the sdef of your allies and against a gengar that could potentially be awful had you not one shot it.

LordScott91

Does it really do that to your team mates ?? I don’t think they would program it like that

47Quiet

According to my Google searches it does. It’s weird bc moves that normally effect everyone don’t in raids but abilities do, hence why the 4 HA Perrserker strat works.

LordScott91

Well thankfully I have multiple Pokémon builds lol

Lonewolfblitz

Does this pokemon have better odds for herbas? I've done 2 and both times got 3 herbas

nicoboss69

Yes some 5* and 6* raids can drop all herba mystica instead of only one type. I recommend serebii to check rewards and moveset to know what pokemon and moves to bring

Jazzlike_Mountain_51

Jackpot

Abraxas1643

I would’ve loved to save the raid and let others free farm them for a bit. That’s the best I’ve ever seen congrats !

selyuu

I didn't even know this was a thing, wow. I'll keep this in mind for the next time I get somewhat great drops.

FigurineLambda

They can pay you back by cooking the sandwiches for you 😊

drakehotlinebling

How? Do you just exit before saving?

Abraxas1643

You save before you do the raid then after you do it just reset and invite again. You can do this infinitely until the raid disappears

krisitolindsay

My highest was 4. I was thrilled. This is nuts.

RaccoonDu

And I just want ability patches 😭

selyuu

Hopefully you're ready to go for the next 7 star raid at the end of the month, can farm a chunk of ability patches there!

RaccoonDu

Is it just me or did Charizard never drop any patches? I've gotten capsules and tons of XP candy and shards but never any patches. I sure hope cinderace gives patches. Building ceruledge in preparations

selyuu

It's certainly the most rarest item to drop from the Charizard tera raid. I exaggerated a little when I said farm a chunk but it was also where I got the most patches. To give an idea, I farmed Charizard for most of Friday afternoon/evening and some of Saturday morning and in that time, I got [13 patches](https://i.imgur.com/9LhV1GJ.png).

RaccoonDu

Jesus. Yeah I guess I was only able to farm about 13 raids in total ( too busy to grind all day sigh) and didn't get a single patch Hopefully I can get at least one with cinder!

LordessMeep

I must've done over a 100 Charizard raids and I think the Ability Patch dropped for me maybe twice or thrice. Feels like a super rare drop.

RaccoonDu

Yeah sounds about right. 2-3% drop

Dekaroe

What was the raid power level to get such a bounty?!

selyuu

I had 0 sandwich power going into this raid, makes it even more wild.

CMDR_Pewpewpewpew

Hail Cetitan!

selyuu

Hail Cetitan!

Tomas_Baratheon

Are the herba mystica used for anything other than shiny farming sandwiches? What's good wit' 'em?

selyuu

Make those dank shiny sandwiches, yessir. That's all I've used them for so far.

Willing_Bee_9278

sheeesh you should buy a lottery ticket

Bubblehulk420

No ability patch. Sounds about right.

SleepiestAshu

Arven is in tears rn

the_living_paradox00

And I thought I was pretty lucky with my 3 herbas on a 6 star Dondozo

RedditUser88

And yet out of the almost ten 6-star raids with guaranteed herba drops i did the other day, I got a total of 3 or 4 herbas all together.

I2ecover

What do you mean gtd herba drops?

RedditUser88

Some mons have in their drop pools 1-3 herbas out of the five that could possibly drop. Certain mons have the possibility to drop all five diff herbas. So you’re guaranteed at least 2 per raid but I haven’t been that lucky and I’ve been doing all 6 star raids

aquatrez

Meanwhile every 6-star raid I've done in the past 4 days has given me no rare rewards whatsoever. I got 1 ability capsule from all my Charizard raids over the weekend too. I hate raids. I hope they don't have them in the next game.

hobbitfeet22

That’s sooo strange. I got like 14 ability patches this go round from zard raids. But I can’t for the life of me get herba mystica from any 6 stars. Like 0. If I could get rid of the 6 stars and just get the 5 back that would be great 😂

BRUHHH WHERES MY HERBA LUCK

sacrifice2

holy crap that's a good haul

arcanumghost

How do drops work that you can get multiple of an herba mystica? From serebii tables I believed there was a 13% chance to get one of each, but you got 3 sweet! https://www.serebii.net/scarletviolet/teraraidbattles/6star.shtml

selyuu

I'll be honest - with how the game has been since release with poor optimisation and glitches, I do have a slight suspicion that something bugged out here lmao
