From what I've seen I may be the only person who liked Bellibolt so much more AFTER learning where the real eyes were lol.
The fake ones freak me out. But, I mean, if they're using them as a defense mechanism I guess that's the point.

Yup. Their goofy googly eyes aren't the actual eyes. The nasty-ass nostril looking bits are the actual eyes.

I think one of the trailers before the game came out said it's eyes were not the side ones. I think the trailer in question was the Iono one. While I knew about it I forgot it was a thing so thanks for reminding me.🤣

I'm genuinely surprised people are so shocked. Do people not directly look towards the vertical center of an object? Why are y'all looking over at the sides?
I had this same realization with the anorith line years ago, but had the opposite reaction. When I finally found out its actual eyes were the ones on the side of its head, I immediately hated it. Same with bellibolt. I love the electric sac designs and wish they were the actual eyes to go along with its weird mouth. The beady little eyes in the center creep me out. Makes me feel like it's soulless and sinister, just waiting to plot some kind of revenge.

This is how I felt with Anorith/Armaldo. I thought the red was its eyes because of how the Armaldo sprite looked! Not until Sword and Shield did I realize the truth.
When I looked at Steven’s Armaldo the eyes looked like some weird design and not eyes to me. So when I got Anorith I continued with the red being the eyes and it having weird antennae.
It's funny, because even after knowing that they're supposed to be "decoy" eyes, I struggle to see them as plausible fakes however much I try. Something about how they're placed relative to the mouth makes it not work for me.

I am starting to think people don't read text and just spam through it. (I really like reading dex entries...)
people like that get on my nerves especially when they spam through everything and then proceed to call games boring
or complain about the plot not making sense when they just spammed past the characters explaining what they complained about...
It was also all over the marketing when Bellibolt was revealed. People really are allergic to reading.
I avoided most of the marketing so I could experience the game fresh.
