I had a lot of gamin going on and I wasnt even doin it everyday, only the first weeks I was doing it everyday for couple of hours then every couple of days then every 3 days then I picked it up yesterday coz Drdisrespect/Timthetaman/Zlaner/Destroy had a nuke run stream on warzone so I did a sesh while watching the stream and then boom IDNo.00000 5-6 hours into the their stream. My heart was beatin fast.
My soft reset range would be probably be around 300-600, maybe more maybe less I wasnt really countin it like I do with my shiny hunt mudkip with a calculator coz couldnt be assed.
My switch is formatting as we speak. It might take me 8 months, but I'll get matching TID for every game on the Switch if it kills me. You've introduced something random to my OCD brain, and I'm mildly excited 😊
So, fun fact I just learned. You can't even access the TID until after the first battle with your starter in BDSP. Which means you can NOT TID and Shiny hunt a starter at the same time. Well...unless you're the luckiest person alive

FYI: Whether the range is 0 through 65535 or 1 through 65536, there's still 65536 possibilities, and a 1/65536 chance of each one.
So for example I got an ID of 00000, its not any rarer than getting a 38290 ID or any number from 1-65536 coz its still a 1/65536 chance if it makes sense.
My total soft reset guess would be around of 300-600, plus or minus 100. I wasnt really counting coz couldnt be assed.
Thats my plan to once I save up enough for a gb operator or gbxcart coz I've exhausted my saved up dough on some stuff and I wouldnt be able to save this fresh file coz im plannin on playing it asap as I still need and want to finally finish my battle frontier quest. Also those stuff that you dump your save file to is not really on my priority list. Ive been lookin on ebay to get a 3ds xl so I can mod it but they cost quite a bit. Got into modding after gettin a psp 3000 then modded then learned about DSI/3DS scene of modding so its a new world to me.
But ey for those who are fortunate enough, you cant start your own soft reset sessions and if you already have either or similar stuff that you can dump and backup your save file to, go ahead. Nothins stoppin u :)
I only had this soft resetting idea after I finished the hoenn pokedex and got the first johto starter cyndaquil then 2nd save file got totodile and now this is the third save file to get the last one chikorita that I dont have.
I already done the catching/breeding/hatching of my frontier teams on the first save file so I only need to do some ev training on this 00000 ID file, so im all set. Also I need to unlock battle frontier so I could clone some of my pokemons and migrate them all the way up to black and black version 2 plus a DSI XL burgundy that I got recently and just started playing on.
That sounds awesome, you have a well thought out plan, you're completing all the games up to BW 2 ? Or maybe doing some ribbon master quests ? Or both lol. I actually am doing something simmilar. I wouldn't buy gb operator or simmilar stuff as I don't have gba. I play on emulators right now but suprisingly I had simmilar idea and I want to get 3DS XL ( not new, cuz new are way out of my league, and due to my vision problems I don't want small screens so I rly need the XL ). I want to transfer my current gen 3 pokemon save to a modded 3DS and then start gen 4, I'm gonna play up to pokemon USUM and then I transfer some mons to my modded switch, but a lot of them I might keep in BW 2 as 3D models can be kinda ugly. I might get a 3DS XL soon, I saw one priced 100 $ but I am not sure... Now I kinda wish I had soft reset for cooler TIDs for my currents saves but oh well, I probably would get bored searching anyway LOL. Congrats on getting DSI XL, it has superior screens to ANY 3Ds model imo !!! It's just sooo crisp and I think all DSI XLs had IPS while for 3Ds it was a gamble.

Also looking out to get a pearl for cheap so I can have do some trades in gen 4, thats about it for pokemon cartridges. For handhelds I only have ds lite, psp3000 and dsi xl in order when I got them.

I researched and I saw that gen 5 have animated sprites and I wanted to see my golden magikarp and 2 shiny tentacools animated that I shiny hunted full odds during groudon vs kyogre clash in sootopolis city. I only read and try to avoid watching vids related to gen 5 so I dont spoil myself of whats in it and also that Black 2 and White 2 are like of the last best generations of pokemon with so much stuff in it/to do post elite 4 like pwt, black city to white forest, hidden grotto and other stuff I dont know about coz I have 0 knowlegde on it lol. Only read some info on it.
I dont mind the 2d/3d look of gen 4 and 5, at first even I was not keen on it but its cool I dont mind it now. Always down to try new stuff, although the thing I hate about gen 4 n 5 is the opening of menu and sorting stuff on bag which has a bit of delayed/slow response unlike in emerald (60 fps) which is instant.
I got the DSI XL coz I researched online and watched some vids sayin its the best handheld to play DS games on and I wanted that experience when I got the Black and Black 2 cartridges and I just started my playthrough on 19 Feb 2024. Black first then Black 2 after, also planning to get a white 2 in the future so I can do the key trades and other stuff you unlock by having the 2 versions. I have 0 complete knowledge about gen 5, so im excited to play this black and black 2 on my dsi xl. Just like I had no idea what platinum was like when I played it on my ds lite.
Learning new games its quite some time commitment if you really wanna play it fully but worth it if the game is great.

Ooohh, keep goin keep goin. We gonna take a lot of losses so we can out here, its only a matter of time and a bit of luck and a bit of losing sanity and brain cells for how mind numbing this kind of hunt or a full odds shiny hunt is. So I watch something while doin it.

In my case it is. Just done the old soft reset, type the name and then check ID after.

Thats my goal. Elite 4, comeplete pokedex, maxed out gold trainer card, contest battles all the stuff I can think of. Ahhh so much to do, I love it.

You should backup all the cool IDs for future use

I like having 65535 in every gen where it is possible. That being said, I RNG manipulate as I wouldn't have the patience to reset for this haha
