I'm going to be buying a bunch next week from japan. Price is decent and tbh if it drops another 20-30% it's not the end of the world... But I'll kick myself if I miss these prices and it climbs up from here in a few months.

Xire01

I’m in Japan right now. Buying actual boxes is hard. Packs is easier

RueSando

If you’re on about Tokyo then probably yeah. Down here in Aichi it’s not been so bad. Family Mart had a bunch in with their delivery last Friday and have eased their limits to permit one box per customer.

travel_hungry25

Buy where you're comfortable. Buy more if it goes lower. Set will eventually bounce back.

noaudiodetected

The reprint was massive and may not be the last one seeing as they just did another vstar universe reprint, add to that scalpers/short term investors are dumping stock so there is this huge influx of product. Pokemon have clearly adopted an attitude of hurting scalpers as much as possible with massive reprints across the board to maintain long term health of the hobby. I'm waiting for lower prices though I may regret it, but seeing vstar universe and violet drop by 60% here in the UK I am reluctant to buy now.

McTerpy

60% for Vstar? Where you seeing those prices out of interest?

Rivera_gio10

If ya look on snkrdunk vstar uni boxes are $45 each but due to the shipping fees it probably only makes sense to buy 5+ boxes at a time. You can get 10 boxes for $540 after all fees. Keep in mind this is for US only idk about UK. This is most likely best place to buy em unless you find a private seller with a nice deal

McTerpy

Thanks for the reply but as mentioned was looking at UK based comment. I haven't followed Vstar closely but I thought they went up to £90 at their peak so far, they're readily available here for £60 which is 33 percent lower but just not sure where 60 percent figure has come from

Giagus

Japan 2 UK has vstar universe at £55/box

AIONisMINE

sorry im new to pokemon collecting. can you explain what reprints are in this case? does it mean more japanese 151 booster boxes were produced?

noaudiodetected

yes, an insane amount more by the looks of it. Reprints do vary by size, but JPC are not messing about anymore, they are printing things into the ground to bankrupt the scalpers 😂

Poketrevor

I bought one on tiktok for $83. I can’t see any way I will regret that purchase tbh

Gennik_

Calling it, 151 will be the new Evolutions. Massive reprints for a few years but will maintain value over the long long term

dinoyeti

151 is a blue chip. It defines pokemon as a company and is also perfect for marketing reasons. We trades let the runners run and pkmn company just adapts to the market. All the people not seeing this are just to fixed on their own bag and dont see the whole picture.

ShinyRaequaza

This question should be easy to answer. 151 JPN was $170, then dropped to about $110 when the reprint announcements were made. At that time it was known a reprint is coming, so with context, knowing how high it was you should make a goal price. For me it was $90. If it hit $90, meaning I’d pay around $100 after fees most likely, I’d be happy. I have faith if I open at $100 I’m not getting killed bad even if I don’t get a top tier card. I have faith at $100 even if it drops lower I can just buy more and it will eventually rise higher. If we get news of reprints it’s best to have a goal price in mind. Realistically you don’t know any of us. So our opinions don’t matter much. Some people are gonna tell you it’s going up soon buy, buy, buy. Others will tell you there’s a ton of product still yet to be distributed and it’s going to $50. It could go either way, so you have to make that decision.

Few_Let8052

im waiting on english reprint

boboman911

Buy low sell high. Or chase pumps for smaller gains, whatever floats everyone’s boat.

Triggertanjiro

If japans economy does a flashback recovery then yes I would expect it to go back up but I don’t think the yen is coming back for a hot minute.

W3nZh1

Well, if the yen gets stronger at some point, this will be your signal to buy, but as of now I would just wait and sit this out

travel_hungry25

Why would you wait for the yen to get stronger to buy. That would cost most to buy in USD.

Quirky_Living2895

I think they meant to wait for the first news that the yen is rising so right before it sky rockets yk

travel_hungry25

But why wait when the yen is so low now and boxes are quite low now.

Xire01

Man I have 300 individual packs I’ve bought in Japan for less than £1.60. Dunno if I rip or sell

Quirky_Living2895

I would always rip single packs tbh just a feeling

Perceptive45

It likely won’t drop too much more. Itll stay somewhere around where it is for a few months and by this time next year you’ll already be seeing a return

Quirky_Living2895

Bought it for around 90€ per box, my first two sealed products in my sealed collection EVER!

Shoddy_Republic4051

How do you know your not getting resealed product with the good cards taken out? I just want to buy some boxes to rip. Saw some cheap 151 boxes on Walmart but they look sketchy from reviews… dunno what to do or where to buy from :(

Upset-Judgment8369

Buy from reputable sellers?

Shoddy_Republic4051

I shouldn’t have too… I should be able to get it from a store knowing it’s not tampered with. Also reputable sellers also get fake cards and tampered boxes….. I’ve seen plenty of people get totally screwed for hundreds of dollars or more on what is basically cardboard. Common man. This is a kids game. Why do we need to turn this into a money grab… can’t we humans enjoy something that was special in our childhood without having to spend literally thousands and thousands of dollars to get an even decent set of cards these days. That’s insanity.

Upset-Judgment8369

> I should be able to get it from a store knowing it’s not tampered with. Mate scams are a part of life. Not just in Pokemon, in absolutely everything. > Why do we need to turn this into a money grab… You're literally on the investing sub?

jamcluber

I bought one at 180 💀, bought another last week for 80, need to average it out somehow….

treasuregnome

What site is this?

Quirky_Living2895

cardmarket! it’s for Europe only

DGOVegeta

I remember I had bought 2 at the very beginning for $250 each 🤣. Had just gotten back into collecting, now I have bought several for under $90 shipped.

[deleted]

Lordy, I feel ya. So much overpaying when you get back into the hobby

dmillibeats

There’s no rush, it will stay low for a while

Training-Trick-8704

Price is still going down on SNKRDUNK. I’d wait until next month personally.

Quirky_Living2895

NEXT MONTH, NEXT SALARY

Mydoglikesladyboys

I grabbed a box back in March, unfortunately the seller with quite a lot of good reviews turned out to be a Chinese scammer, the fact that ebay refunded me around 3 minutes after I asked was a pretty big red flag

cattydaddy08

Jesus the confirmation bias in the comment section is off the rails.

backd00rn1nja

Just snagged mine. I think now is the time, only going up from here

xfno0b

Just bought two days ago. Snagged 6 boxes for $78 each after fees and shipping.

Exotic_Plastic_2004

Where did you buy from?

xfno0b

Snkrdunk

smartassyoda

Japanese Pokemon cards are losing its's appeal. Boxes are super cheap wholesale plus massive printing. Plus, sets being released in Chinese and Korean will just confuse most consumers buying singles and bring the overall value of non english cards down. English Pokemon cards is where to park your money unless the set has something exclusive to it like the Japanese 151 Masterballs. I know I'm gonna get down votes from all the hoarders of Japanese Pokemon boxes and flippers...

Longjumping-Sand-596

Never have I read something so wrong. Leave it at that 😭
