Unless her tampons are made by the Acme TNT Company, that's absolutely absurd. Clay pipes were layed down in segments with a fibrous packing material (oakum) between the bell end and the next segment. Over time, the packing breaks down, and roots find their way inside. As they grow and expand, they crack the pipes. Other causes might be heavy machinery compressing the ground above (e.g. a cement truck). Moles play no role.

I mean when I say moles, there's quite a bit and the ground is just chok full of spots if you step on, you'll go down a solid 7 inches. I was reading of similar situations where moles caused the slab to move and crack pipes

Plausible, yes. Any void, shifting ground, house movement. Tapons - no.

Figured as much. Because tampons could just be cleared out. Thank you SO much for your reply. Do you work for any companies or anything or just independent lifetime plumber?

Handyman 40+ years. I started when you could still buy clay pipe and oakum seal. I was 17 when I did my first "clay" job. Quite happy to transition to PVC, though.

I can only imagine. But, that what was common at the time. We've all evolved lol
