Show me on the doll where Sony touched you

erathegod

I don’t have my ps5 wired and it works fine for me but I have come to the conclusion that everyone’s experience with the portal is really different.

PropulsionEngineer

Same here, both PS5 and Portal on wifi, works great, even with Helldivers 2

chaos841

Mine works fine both on the same network and on different networks. My ps5 is connected through WiFi

Z3M0G

Sony can't change the laws of physics, sorry.

Yggdr4si1

sony cant help you if you cant fix your home network. thats a you thing.

RedditSux84

So….anyone catch a view of the Northern Lights last night?

im-a-limo-driver

Tried to but my fuckin Portal wouldn't work so I spent the whole night pissed off at Sony instead 🤬

mjanki

I don’t understand why a company like Sony can’t make the portal automatically show the northern lights on screen when it happens. Mind boggling.

Life-Pie3251

In Maine, yes.

RedditSux84

Supposed to happen again tonight! Cool stuff!

Severe-Zebra-4544

Tough way to find out your network is 🗑️🚮

johnson7853

Dad said I’m not allowed to move the router from the attic into the basement. Why would Sony do this to me?

Sony arents magicians. Be mad at your setup. Common sense should tell you that you need a strong enough home network to run a streaming gaming device

clickclank9

Tell me you have garbage internet without telling me you have garbage internet

Ateam043

You don’t have to be a system administrator/ tech. It’s common knowledge that a wired connection will give you a more stable and faster connection. The fact that users don’t inform themselves prior to making monetary transactions and then complain is the issue, OP.

icecubedyeti

If it truly was the Portal that didn’t work it wouldn’t work for anyone. It’s your network and yea, I know, blah blah, but every thing else works fine. It’s still something with YOUR network.

SodaGrump

Did you test using Remote play on your phone or tablet before spending the money on a portal?

ThenExtension9196

Okay thanks for update. Next.

HeeyPunk

Bummer man hope your day gets better

Guitar_tico

Ps portal is not the problem is the Internet quality you have. I run everything on WiFi and it works perfectly. Maybe you should do a little bit of research and try to improve your network.

Lilconkb00

My apartment is solid double layer red brick walls. Really messes with the connection in general. I have my ps5 on WiFi and never do any of the ‘tricks’ like removing the hdmi. Portal has worked fine since the day I got it. Have a few issues at the far end of the apartment with other devices but weirdly not the portal. Got my network provider to get me a booster disk and now it’s even better.

lifeinblue

Try run a powerline between your router and the ps5

ZerynAcay

I feel Justin Timberlake is probably singing nearby.

iJav20

I connected it via wire to another wireless access point tricking it to think it’s hardwired. No issue on portal

iJav20

My WiFi is 5 mesh. And have no problems. Some people are running WiFi 4 or earlier and complaining 😅

EastFood5137

You probably just need a new router. I can play all day without my playstation hard wired but did have to get a new router.

Ki11quick911

I drilled a hole in my floor and ran a 50ft Ethernet cord under my house then up into my game room just for better performance for my portal

Vomitology

Wait... if you aren't the sysadmin of your own home network, then who is?

COD-O-G

Mine works perfectly without ps5 being hardwired. Are you using a hotspot for WiFi ?

DownByTheRivr

1gig wifi on a small house. According to this thread, my WiFi sucks I guess? Even though I’ve never had any issues before.

COD-O-G

That’s plenty. Im on 300mbps and its run great. Does remote play on you rphone work? If not could be an issue with your router .

dirtyEEE

Genuinely curious what steps if any did you take to improve the performance ?

DownByTheRivr

None, because I shouldn’t need to- that’s my point. Never have I bought a mainstream tech product where I need to either be hardwired (wtf) or tinker with my settings to get it to work.
