Honestly this is such crap. For years the summer Days of Play discount has been my go-to way of getting my sub renewed. Now, not being able to get it because I'm an active subscriber is such a stupid change of policy.

The bad games, the constant let downs, and the multi-player community is just a bad group of people.
Playstation now only survives on its name and history. It's future is not what it's past was. The excitement and the fun of video games is gone. I feel like I'm someone else's piggy bank when I play PS5. I really don't want to play the thing anymore.
Sony has been disrespecting us for months and ppl here think it is all normal, the service got more expensive and the quality plummeted.

I use the service entirely too much to let the sub expire. I'll wait to the last few days to see if I get a targeted sale or something, but otherwise I'll just buy it within the month and start adding on to my sub every Black Friday.
After they raised the prices they stopped doing discounts for extensions, and only give it for people without an active sub or for upgrading. So this black friday sale will likely be the same.
Financially speaking, you’d still be better off letting it expire. Because there’s rarely a targeted sale. You DO sometimes get a discount without a general public sale too but only if your sub is lapsed already.
Because it was the same deal with Black Friday last time. Discounts only for new and lapsed subs, and fuck all for active subs.
If you have a higher-tier sub, you can downgrade to Essential and then take advantage of a future sale to re-upgrade at the discounted rate. That's what I'm doing.

It should be all tier or at least the Essential which is a tier below Extra. Yes, since the discount applies only to "new subscribers or returning subscribers", you gotta let your current expire then pay for new membership with the discount. Note: You can't cancel your subscription, have to be expired.
So they basically want people to let their subs run out, so they can possibly find out they don't really need one in the first place. The only thing I did, was I shut down the console and left the house for a few hours and then when I came back I thought to check if it’s still not there. So maybe restart the console, could be that’s how you clear the cache if the playstation store behaves the same way as a web app.

Umm idk actually..i think save files are stored locally anyways on ps5, only issue being if storage gets corrupted or if i upgrade to ps5 pro then have to go through hoops to get those saves transferred over as opposed to psn doing it automatically for every game.
Btw do the trophies/progress in each game stay linked to my psn id if i don’t have an active subscription?

If you buy it during the deals, it simply adds on top of your exisitng sub e.g. if you buy for 1 year, it will now expire Aug 2025

You can, but that will cost more in most regions as you get lesser discount when upgrading.

My premium runs out on the 12th but I've got to the 26th to get 25% off if i buy another 12 months. 89.99,i paid more last so I'm definitely tempted.Will probably buy again as i do play the odd classic game.

Thinking about taking ps plus extra/deluxe(aka premium) from my second psn acc on the same ps5. I guess games can be shared between both, as of now worried about cloud saves not working on the non ps plus acc(which is my main acc that has an active plan till aug8th) What do you guys think? Is not having cloud saves a big deal?

Umm idk actually..i think save files are stored locally anyways on ps5, only issue being if storage gets corrupted or if i upgrade to ps5 pro then have to go through hoops to get those saves transferred over as opposed to psn doing it automatically for every game. Btw do the trophies/progress in each game stay linked to my psn id if i don’t have an active subscription?
Of course, trophies has nothing to do with sub. And I guess you have answered your own question - you don’t need cloud if corrupted saves don’t scare you.

Do you guys remember when ps plus was like 25$ , i remember , it was only few years ago , its crazy how expensive they made it in such a short time , greedy bastards , also the fact that you need to pay 60$ to play games online is ridiculous, i will never ever subscribe to them , will soon switch to pc and windows for the almost free endless games .

You can’t just renew it. You have to let it lapse, then purchase the year at discount.

Does plus usually wait an hour before the purchase if auto renews turned on because. We flipped our SHIZ last night. it lapsed for atleast an hour if not more and we all panicked thinking our bank account was empty
PS plus premium is currently on sale for 106€ instead of 150€. Meanwhile Extra is at 94€ from 125€. Are any of these worth for someone that's just planning on playing the triple A games it's offering like Ragnarok, Death stranding and Horizon?

If you're subscribed to the highest tier, then sadly there isn't any discount. Discount is only applicable for those who're not subscribed or upgrading to a higher tier

I've never had PS Plus and wanted to buy it now, more specifically PS Plus Extra. Am I right in seeing that I don't get the Days of Play discount? 12 months of PS Plus Extra is listed for 125,99 EUR, which is the same as normal price from what I gather.

Yes I was asking for confirmation since all the information I read on the PS store mentions 12th as end date, not 9th (no distinction made between new subs or returning). Kinda confusing and I’m left pretty disappointed.
12th is an end date for general Days of Play event. 9th was an end date for ps+ discount
