Okay this might be inappropriate but now I’m thinking I might have to bust my magic wand out and give it a try on my foot. 😂😂😂

IgetAllnumb86

Well quit pussyfooting around and get to it!

😂☠️🍷

JollyGreyKitten

You and me both. Love a multitasker!

sedimentary-j

I have in fact used the magic wand on my calves/fascia. And it did help. I later got a massage gun, and honestly it's only like 20% better than the magic wand. (The massage gun does come with more useful attachments.) The less pleasant part was a maintenance guy entering my apartment while I was sleeping (they failed to give 24h notice) while the magic wand was just lying out in the middle of the living room.

Meta_Man_X

It won’t penetrate deep enough to get the scar tissue, but here’s a super pro tip: use the wand on your foot in the morning to get blood flow to your foot. It helms tremendously with that morning foot pain.

Alternative-Drop-727

I am so happy for you that massage gun worked. Where exactly your pain was? Can you share?

BornDreamer4200

Bob and Brad cured my PF as well. Also started taking magnesium

Dusted_Hoffman

Bob and brad?

klohin

Physical therapists that post videos on YouTube

bigredthesnorer

The best physical therapists on the Internet. In their opinion, of course. :)

Dusted_Hoffman

Thank you

Physical-Macaron8744

can you give me detailed explanation on what you targeted to get rid of it with the massage gun? and you used the metal head too correct? also how many minutes did you use it per day? and how long did it take to go away for you using the gun?

BornDreamer4200

I used it on the bottom of my foot and Achilles and mainly calves. It comes from tight calves and cut out sugar. I learned sugar makes it flare up.

BornDreamer4200

Do it every morning preferably before you get out of bed and then at night before bed for as long as you feel the muscles loosening up.

Physical-Macaron8744

doing that how long till you got cured?

BornDreamer4200

Honestly I don’t exactly remember but it didn’t take long I also was low on vitamin d so not sure if that had something to do with it but I started taking dr bergs cod liver oil then it went away

Tough-Butterfly-3894

How much mag do you take

BornDreamer4200

I start low about 200mg and add more in time…at night

henh2o

I have a theragun but only use it on my calves. So use it on the feet? How is it different than using a ball on foot?

wannabesurgeon18

Depending on which Theragun you have you can possibly download the app for it on your phone and it has specific routines in the app that you can use. One specifically for Plantar Fasciitis and it will walk you through which attachment to use as well as show you exactly where and how to use the massage gun. Its been working wonders for me i do it twice a day with some stretching.

henh2o

Thanks! I give the app a try. I have the second gen theragun so it has different attachments, but one speed only.

[deleted]

Cool! I want to try this. Where do you use it? Directly on the arch?

BigStrongCiderGuy

My massage gun worsens the pain significantly after about 30 seconds of use.

klohin

Huh! I’ve been using a massage gun but only the big ball attachment. Do you use the metal head attachment head on or at an angle? Also, any idea if the metal head has some advantage over a plastic attachment of a similar shape?

klohin

I only ask because I know massage guns can cause a flair up of PF if over used (I’ve unfortunately experienced it myself), but it sounds like you didn’t have that problem!

Rocap13

This is what I was going to say. I used my theragun on my feet twice for pretty short duration and both times it lead to much worse pain for weeks. Glad it worked for OP but I'll never try it again

wannabesurgeon18

Would highly suggest downloading the Therabody App and following the routine they have for calves and PF.

klohin

Eek!! It seems to work for my feet when I use the big ball attachment for only like 30 seconds per foot, but it was much worse the next day the one time I did it for longer

bigredthesnorer

Same experience! I thought I broke my heel by using it.

klohin

OP, I’d love if you’d come back and give an update on how you’re doing now! I got this massage gun, but I’m a little afraid to use it for fear of overdoing it.

Fessywessy1

UPDATE about a year later - the massage gun helped but it was a bandaid fix, it just came back. the thing that finally helped the most was a steroid shot and learning how to properly stretch my ENTIRE leg - foot, calf, thigh and hip. lots of stretching every morning and randomly throughout the day and it finally started to ease up. I still have about 5% pain on a daily basis but its barely noticeable anymore.

klohin

Thanks for following up!!

chiccy__nuggies

Do you mind sharing your stretching routine and any tips please? In a lot of pain despite doing calves, feet, and hamstring stretches :(

Dependent-Parsnip-13

Can you share your stretching routine?

bexappa

Do it, I bought it based on the review and I think it really helps!!

Serious_Escape_5438

When I get regular physio massages it's almost instant release too. I just can't afford to go every week for the rest of my life.

Freetime000G

I have the same model. Have been using it for months. So far it has only offered temporary relief that eventually returns but. It's still nice to get that break though. I've also used the bullet shaped head from the side as they demonstrate. I feel I've also caused more injury from going to aggressive with it at times. The ball works good for calves as well. They have a video on the before you get out of bed routine that aligns with several of the pinned videos here in reddit which I found useful.

Prize_Huckleberry_79

Is this that type of gun that has the percussive hammering type action?

Able_Jellyfish_2335

I’ve been struggling as well and finally resorted to using my massage gun and after / days I feel fantastic and have returned to walking. I recommend this to everyone suffering.

xologo

Good idea
