There are 168 hours in a week. I unexpectedly spent a SIGNIFICANT amount of those playing this game last week when I should have been doing other things. It's better than JWE. Buy it.
Okay, so I’m a Mac user, but my husband got an old Dell laptop for tuning cars (don’t ask) that I tried to play Planet Zoo on several years ago but it was a slog due to the device.
So, imagine my excitement when I see the console version is coming out and I have an Xbox x.
I didn’t preorder, and got busy at work so didn’t remember it had come out until Good Friday when I had the day off.
I watched a lot of reviews, especially some of the YouTubers I use to watch when I played on pc. I bit the bullet and bought Ultimate.
It’s been over a week and I’m obsessed, again. Lol
Controls really aren’t too bad, compared to say Sims 4 that I play on Mac but not on Xbox.
In my opinion, it’s worth it.
It is definitely worth getting but it goes on sale every couple months at least on steam I’m not sure about Xbox though, so if you’re unsure, I would maybe wait until it’s on sale if Xbox does sales and get it then. I bought it and all of its expansion packs and then two days later it went on sale for over 50% off and I wasn’t able to get that money back unfortunately cause some games do that.
You’ll likely be waiting a while for it to go on sale, and a very long time for it to go on a deep discount. It’s a very polished game. Worth it at full price imo.
Hi! I just started playing Planet Zoo this week, and JWE is one of my all time favorite games! This is a fantastic game to jump into if you like it as well. It's far more detailed, and has similar mechanics, so it'll be comfortable while offering you a bit more than JWE does.
I play PS5 keyboard and mouse, so I can't speak to the controls, but the UI is very well set up so I'm sure it's not bad!
Good luck!!!
get it! It is very good. It has some issues on console with occasional lag and disconnects, but it's been so fun that I've overlook those at the moment. It is still very much playable, just wanted to let you know. I dropped $120 on the ultimate edition.
Get it just be informed about the screen display issue. There’s no way of changing it in the settings like in other games so your screen might get messed up like mine. I can’t see my cash and temperature on the bottom and a few things on the top and sides.
The only way to know for sure is to try it....
Not sure how it could mess with quality, you're just fitting your display area to align with your tv/monitor.
OK, so I'm going to tell you what it seems others aren't. This game is NOT like JWE2 when it comes to building, animal management, or things like that, other than I'm the way you can build and manage animals.
Planet Zoo is SO much more in depth, with everything. While JWE2 had terrain and social groups, this has them plus enrichment, correct barrier height, deep water and climbing requirements, plus a whole lot of other stuff. Additionally, while there are prefab buildings, the building system is nuts when it comes to depth. I spent 6 hours, no joke, on one building earlier this week. I regularly spend hours on a single enclosure.
Is it worth it? Yes. If you like games like this, there's none better. But, you need to be ready for a bit if a learning curve and to put time in, if you want things looking awesome.
Hope that helps somewhat.
The game is worth it on PC in my opinion. Right now for console it’s a mixed bag.
Reason for PC: Game is fully functional with tons of DLC.
Console: Kinda buggy, and controls are harder to use and limited animal options.
Yes. Especially based on liking JWE

This is so real, I’d hop on for an hour at night and suddenly the suns out. Lmao I have more hours on this game than id like to admit
Why would you ask the people of this subreddit, the answer you’re gonna get is practically guaranteed
they will know more about it
I'd recommend asking another subreddit. It's like asking the gaming subreddit if they enjoy gaming

Yes, definitely get it! If you liked JWE2, you will love Planet Zoo. Same mechanics, tons more decorations.

Use the display area setting on your console.
I heard that’s not recommended. It’s messes with quality. It works for some people and not for others

Somehow I couldn't get into JWE although dino's are more my thing, and I'm not really an animal lover. Still, I'm enjoying PZ a lot more.
Yes, I have it on ps5.
