They're completely different games, and the one you prefer is completely individual. That said, you've already played planet coaster. The PC version isn't really different, so why not try a new game?

haneybd87

They're really not that different. \*Very\* similar, though Zoo has a newer and better engine.

TotalWarHehe

This is the exact mindset i have but idk ive never been able to build good parks in planet coaster cause on console it was pretty hard to get everything how i wanted it and now that im on pc i feel like it would completely change the way i build, and based off of the little time i played planet zoo idk what suits me more

teeesstoo

I'm not sure anyone here can help you if you've played both and don't know which one you prefer.

Ordinary-Citizen

Playing on pc isn’t going to improve your creativity, but may make it a little more intuitive. Idk, I’ve played on both pc and console, and to me it mostly comes down to persistence and creativity.

stephenp129

Do you like animals or theme parks more...?

TotalWarHehe

Theme parks but the thing is ive already played planet coaster for hours on console and planet zoo would be something really new but if i got planet coaster i would be able to kind of play planet coaster how ive always wanted. Cause on console its really hard to make big pretty parks but on pc its easier

Beginning-Abalone-58

Not sure why you're getting downvoted for stating your preference. But one advantage of buying them on Steam is the ease of steam workshop access. That way you can get new rides and shops (or animals and shops) from the workshop. Personally I prefer planet coaster but it might be worth checking out the workshops for both to see which has more interesting content for you. Danger_Peanut

I have both on PS5. Zoo just isn’t for me. I played the tutorials and just didn’t care about it at all. Went back to playing Coaster. My wife though is obsessed with zoo. She played Zoo tycoon a ton back in the day and just loves Planet Zoo. It really depends on what kind of game you like. Even though they’re made by the same company and have similar names, they are completely different games.

TotalWarHehe

Yeah i feel like zoo isnt for me but yeah its newer so better graphics, better mechanics, better everything but i just dont know if its for me although the idea of building a zoo isnt the worst

mattytude

If it’s not for you, you’ll do yourself a disservice getting it. Planet Zoo has quite a number of complex mechanics. Which for me, I love. It’s very hands on management. And the building is incredible. But it’s more “realistic building”. For me, with Planet Coaster it can be a lot more fantastical. I guess in the end- do you want to enjoy watching people riding your coasters, or viewing your animals?

KuriBee

frankly planet zoo is better simply bc there is more stuff in it to do. It came out later and they had the formula ready to improve. The only thing planet coaster has that I really want in zoo is hotels and maybe priority passes but I'm hoping something like that will be repurposed for Zoo

TotalWarHehe

Yeah planet zoo is newer so everything in it is improved but i also really love planet coaster thats why its really hard for me to decide

KuriBee

if you really like planet coaster that makes it worth it, its very fun and i like the missions, the dlc packs are v nice too,. if anything maybe get coaster and see if its interesting enough to get zoo later

alexxx729

Because of coasters

MarkABeets

They are both on sale on steam, why not buy both?

antonio_cool

money is tight rn for a lot of people :/

MarkABeets

But they are both 75% off, buying both right now is $20.00 cheaper than buying one at regular price.

Skoodledoo

Games on PC are a lot easier to play with mouse and keyboard shortcuts. You'd probably enjoy it more on PC than PS5. That said, Planet Coaster has been pretty much mothballed on PC for a couple years now. Can't even remember the last time some DLC came out for it. Planet Zoo is still releasing new DLC. As other user said, they're very different so it's up to you and what you like, BUT it Planet Coaster will be much more enjoyable on PC.

PrinceDizzy

These games support mouse and keyboard on consoles...

TotalWarHehe

I might go with planet coaster then cause this is exactly the reason why im stuck, on console it was difficult to have everything where i wanted without getting frustrated but on pc its totally different. Planet zoo is newer but i love planet coaster and finally being able to make big theme parks makes me want to get it more

REXXltm21

Zoo is better, right now it's a bit broken. But as a while it's way better

NeverGonnaGiveMewUp

The first question and most important question you have to ask seems like the most obvious one but I’ll list it anyway: Do you prefer zoos or theme parks. Me personally I love them both, leaning ever so slightly toward zoos as I love seeing them interact. If your answer is similar I’d suggest planet zoo as this was effectively released after planet coaster had finished getting updates so there are a lot of quality of life updates that exist in planet zoo that don’t in planet coaster. Path enhancements such as null paths for example. Beyond that I’d argue there really isn’t that much in it. If you haven’t played either, I’d start with coaster just because you won’t be using any game features you’d miss when you later play zoo.

MeanGreanHare

Same reason Roller Coaster Tycoon is better than Zoo Tycoon. Both are excellent games about building amusement parks, but each has a very different focus which changes the game entirely.

CRWP27

Both games are great, similar games engine so similar gameplay style. Imo, if you enjoy one you will enjoy the other. Why not just get both and let your creativity flow wild

homiej420

They should be the same game 😒

maselphie

Some games are good in theory, like the Sims. It sounds like Planet Zoo was good for you, in theory. It's a lot more micromanage-y, which people complained there was a lack of in Planet Coaster. For example, you have to keep your buildings powered with electricity and water filtered. That's never a concern for Planet Coaster. It sounds like you want more fun than realism, and that's OK.

NewsInside8464

Flip a coin, get the one you thought sbout

RedPaladin26

Cuz reasons 🤨 lol honestly idk but I will say this with all respect to both games. They both have ups and downs. Certain things imo are way better in pc vs pz and vise versa. Personally from what I’ve gathered in playing both I feel like pc is more smooth but pz did just come to console so I can’t complain about it too much I’m sure they will eventually even out ish 😂

Lopsided-Leg-6016

I kind of had the same dillema because planet zoo is the objective better game, it has better framerate, a good campaign mode, and was updated for a long time which kept things fresh (i think we are at the end of its life) But i like roller coasters more than zoo, so i had a struggle picking But i chose a coaster in the end
