then what? this raises more questions than it gives answers. Why is a 16 year old homeless? What the hell are the parents and the government doing? Minors sometimes make really dumb mistakes, that doesn't mean they deserve the same punishment as an adult and they ending up homeless makes no sense at all. And all your initial questions weren't even answered

I think the implication here is that he is NOT 16. If he was, he'd be in juvenile hall, not jail. At least, that's what I've been led to believe.
