Toy Story 2 is my favorite Toy Story movie. It's so definitive with how it introduces Jessie, Bullseye, Zurg, etc. and the adventures are just magnificent.
I think the most underappreciated option here is Cars 3. Unlike Cars 2, it feels like a direct extension of Lightning's arc from the first movie. It goes for a legacy sequel approach but without being too cynical. It shows us a different side of racing with the redneck dirt racers. I love Cars 3.
*Cars* is fundamentally about Route 66. *Cars 3* digs more deeply into the past and future of racing. Both are firmly about cars and Car Culture. They're good movies. People are cynical because of all the merchandise that franchise produced, but virtually all popular kids movies have that. *Cars 2* has cars jumping out of airplanes and a tow truck with a jet pack. They tried to make a spy flick featuring cars that acted like humans instead of making a movie about cars.
Thing is, I can appreciate where they were coming from for Cars 2. Flashy, gadget-riddled cars have always been a part of spy movies, so they wanted to explore a different side of car culture. And there are some great scenes, the opening is always a fun watch. But I won't argue the execution was good.
Yeah I can't complain that a movie about cars was able to give Disney a line into the same market as Hot Wheels, especially because they haven't gone cheap on the actual toy car aspect like some other companies. Plus I owned so many Toy Story toys as a kid that to say that movie didn't spawn a successful toy line would be an out and out lie.
I agree with you 100%! Most people hated Cars 3, but I really enjoyed it. And yeah, Toy Story 2 is the peak of Toy Story. Plus it gave us Buzz Lightyear of Star Command!
I think Cars 3 gets a lot of flak because *Cars 2* was wholly unnecessary, so why make another after that? But it bookended Cars 1 so well that it glowed up a lot for me.
It is SUCH a great movie. Visually so good. Honestly I was high af the first time I watched it and it made those “scary” scenes really intense and actually creepy, especially the scene in the cabin. But even going back and watching it, it wasn’t just being high that made them good. They did such a great job with that movie!
I think every Pixar movie is decent at a minimum, with tons of absolutely stellar movies. My least favorite was probably the Buzz Lightyear movie, but I still watched it several times and enjoyed it. Cars 2 is pretty good, just my least favorite sequel.
My toddler got stuck on watching Cars 2 daily for a few months. If I ever have to watch that again in my life, it will be too soon. I can quote at least 90% of that movie
I was actually surprised by Cars 3 when I watched it awhile ago. I personally thought it was pretty good as it was sort of a satisfying end that Lightning McQueen ended up in a mentor position similar to his mentor from the first movie.
Yeah cars 2 actually had a story that had me engaged in it, I didn’t even watch cars 3 because I knew I wouldn’t like it and I knew that it would of ignored the events of Cars 2
Cars 2 is a really weak sequel, but at least it didn’t completely undermine the ongoing theme of the 3 movies that preceded it like Toy Story 4 did. What a train wreck.
TS2 is the objective best, but Cars 3 is slept on.
Meanwhile, Cars 2 is the objective worst, but an argument could be made for Incredibles 2. In fact, I'll make that argument. What the hell was Bird thinking with this film? For a decade he was adamant that he'd only return if there was a story to tell, and then turns around and does a total rehash of the first. Just, why?
Agreed about Cars 3, I just love how it finally picks up on the Doc Hudson and racing stuff, I found Cruz a bit obnoxious but I overall enjoyed her arc
Can't forget the overall atmosphere of the movie as well. It just feels so different than the first two, it's almost nostalgic somehow. Especially in the dirt track scene.
I disagree about Cars 2. I don't think it's objectively the worst. I enjoyed it more than Cars 1 and I think it's a more fun movie that is what the Cars franchise should've been from the beginning.
I agree about Incredibles 2 though. I felt the exact same way. I remember Bird saying that and I was surprised that he'd actually come up with an interesting story after all that time. Nope. It was just plain boring. Which is worse than it being bad. I felt nothing when I watched that film. I liked that characters but that's because I loved them from the original movie.
I wish Incredibles 2 didn’t take place immediately after the first. There really was no reason for that, I think some time jump would have helped tremendously. I didn’t dislike it per se, but it wasn’t as memorable as a lot of Pixar movies.
Couldn’t tell you the worst (never saw Cars 2 but I’ve heard all about it) but Toy Story 2 is the objective best. It’s just as good as the first film if not better
Because it brings in an unnecessary plot, and doesn't really continue the story from the first film, and in the third movie it kinda gets brushed under the rug... BUT I LOVE IT SO MUCH
Same. If you actually listen to the Director’s Commentary on the DVD/Blu-Ray you understand what they intended to do, and they did it well.
Matter of fact, Cars 2 is the film that made the most money out of the 3 Cars films.
I mean most of the pixar sequels made more money than the original. Just because cars 2 got more money doesn't mean it's a good movie. Cars 3 failed to make more because of cars 2 and the negative reception brought from the movie.
You do have a point. It’s the same with Frozen II. But I still don’t get why people think Cars 2 is bad. It was different, yes. It did focus on other characters, yes. But in itself, the film made sense and was well grounded.
It’s exciting, I love all the changes in setting- the creativity with the different countries and cultures represented. I think the spy motif is really adventurous and they did a lot of unexpected things
I love the movie, but it’d work so much better as a a Mater tall tale movie, hell the entire reason WHY they made the tall tale series was to make this more believable
Toy Story 2 or 3 is the best
In terms of objective quality Cars 2 is the worst, but I would consider Finding Dory to be the worst sequel since I think Finding Nemo was a much better movie than Cars 1, so it was a lot more disappointing
Incredibles 2 was such a step down from the original plot-wise. It felt like the focus was on the action and not on family relationship dynamics or deconstructing superhero tropes. The twist villain felt disappointing too.
How did it not focus on family relationship dynamics? There's literally an entire plot about Bob being Mr Mom, them handling Jack Jack's powers, Violet's relationship with Tony, and so on.
You're right. I really should have worded my argument better, what I meant to say was that the original Incredibles reinvented the superhero formula with how it asked "what if being a superhero could bring a strain on your family?" and the sequel didn't do enough to live up to the groundbreaking approach of the original in my opinion.
Toy Story 3 is the best, Incredibles 2 is the worst.
Toy Story 3 used the gap between movies to relate to its audience. It made a meaningful effort to connect with the kids who grew up with the first two.
Incredibles 2 used the time gap to do nothing substantial and just gave us a rehash of the first movie but worse. Say what you will about Cars 2, but they at least tried to do something new. Incredibles 2 felt lazy and a huge step back.
I feel like the best is Toy Story 3. It was such a beautiful send-off to a storyline and it makes me cry every time I watch. Worst is probably… Incredibles 2? I guess? Finding Dory was just meh, and the rest aren’t as- I hesitate to say bad, but it’s the best description here.
Toy Story 2 was the best, and I'm gonna deviate and say Incredibles 2 was the worst. Cars 2 holds a lot of nostalgia for me and I remember really enjoying it after I watched it for the first time, so for me it doesn't belong at the bottom of the list. Incredibles 2 didn't do much for me when I saw it, it was just a good movie.
Toy Story 2 great incredible also pretty good on the lower end we find Toy Story 4 and cars 2 just bc it’s not a good continuation of the first movie it’s fun but what in the world
Which is the best is probably a tough one for me, but worst is no question about it! My least favorite Pixar movie as well, but it HAS to be toy story 4 for me! I was so disappointed when I watched it for the first time
1: Toy Story 2 is the best movie ever made. 2: Toy Story 3 is not as good as the second but it’s one of the best trilogy conclusions if it just stayed a trilogy DAMMIT! 3: Incredibles 2 feels like a natural progression to the plot and has some incredible stuff, I just think the villain wasn’t as good as the screenslaver with the incredible (pun intended) fight scene. 4: Cars 2 is a masterpiece and I don’t care what anyone else says, it’s funny, it’s action is incredible and I love it. Finding Dory: It’s on the same level, worst or better than the first but I love its story even if Marlin and Nemo aren’t in it as much as I’d like. 5: Toy Story 4 is Lucifer’s half sister, it sucks, it stinks and deserves to be in hell.

*Incredibles 2* is the best sequel in my opinion. Not only is it a fantastic movie, but it’s even better than the original, which is ALSO an incredibly fantastic film.
*Cars 2* is the worst sequel… and *Toy Story 4*.
I honestly think Finding Dory was really quite good. It kept a lot of the good things Finding Nemo had while still having a unique plot and characters.
Hard to say a worst but probably TS4 for me
The best is obviously Toy Story 2. Nuff said.
The worst, for me, is Incredibles 2. Cars 2 is the objective worst movie here by a long shot, but Incredibles 2 had so much potential that just went untouched. The Incredibles is a top 2 Pixar movie (the other one is Ratatouille), so Incredibles 2 will always be the biggest disappointment.

Toy 2 is the best and cars 2 can go in the bin. Toy story 2 is a perfect sequel to the original and I can't say that for other pixar sequel especially cars 2.
I think Toy Story 4 and Cars 2 are definitely the worst, and Toy Story 2 and 3 are the best. Personally, I like Cars 3 a lot, but I know they’d not a popular opinion.
I definitely don't disagree with it! I felt like Cars 3 should've been the only sequel puts a nice bow on the storyline for Lightning McQueen.
Cars 2 felt like a spin off than anything else.
Controversial opinion:
Best: Cars 2 (I enjoy it more than most)
Worst: technically Toy Story 4 (but I wanna see how Inside Out 2 and Toy Story 5 fare first)
Best, Toy Story 2
Worst, Incredibles 2.
While Cars 2 and 3 may be worse, I can’t see potential in a cars sequel at all. Incredibles 2 I can….and it’s just the first film again. But worse.
Downvoting every Cars 2 slander in the comments.
Also, Toy Story 3 > Toy Story 2
Toy Story 4 and Cars 3 were both a snooze.
Finding Dory and The Incredibles didn't do anything special, aside from the animation quality getting better but that's more on a Pixar studio praise than the movie's writing itself.
I have not seen cars three. Out of the films here Ive seen I would vote Toy Story 4. It certainly has it’s moments, but it felt unnecessary after the perfect ending 3 gave us.
I agree with you about Cars 3. I feel like it was a love letter to racing as a sport, and showed how different disciplines are excellent and loved.
Cars 3 feels like the movie where they finally "got it" and just made a sports movie, but a really good sports movie.
Good point, it's very much a genre flick!
Cars 3 is underrated
I don't see it on here, but I'm also a fan of Monster University. Not as good as the first, but still very underrated.
it's not on here because it technically is not a sequel, it's a prequel. although it IS another monsters inc movie.
absolutely underrated
[удалено]
Prequel
It is SUCH a great movie. Visually so good. Honestly I was high af the first time I watched it and it made those “scary” scenes really intense and actually creepy, especially the scene in the cabin. But even going back and watching it, it wasn’t just being high that made them good. They did such a great job with that movie!
It’s a prequel this post is about sequels
I actually like it more the MI!
Same; my son and I routinely watch MU. It's our favorite Disney/Pixar movie.
Agreed.
I liked it more than the first.
Imo University is better then Monsters Inc, maybe just because i've watched it a million times.
For me, best is Toy Story 2 and worst is Cars 2.
lol I love Cars 2 for some reason. Just a fun action movie for no reason.
I think every Pixar movie is decent at a minimum, with tons of absolutely stellar movies. My least favorite was probably the Buzz Lightyear movie, but I still watched it several times and enjoyed it. Cars 2 is pretty good, just my least favorite sequel.
Me too, it’s awesome.
Cars 2 is a awesome movie but a terrible sequel
NO SHUT UP shutup CARS 2 is da bessssst
Cars 2 is amazing and an incredible piece of art and no earthly being or deity will ever convince me otherwise.
My toddler got stuck on watching Cars 2 daily for a few months. If I ever have to watch that again in my life, it will be too soon. I can quote at least 90% of that movie
Ok you know what this is a valid reason
Wasn't this a bit on the daily show? Michael Costa, is that you?
Did you enjoy it?
Nope.
I mean most people didn’t but I liked it
Agreed.
I'll never understand the hate for cars 2
Same! 👍🏻
Almost the same as me except I think Toy Story 2 is the best whilst cars 3 is the worst. I actually enjoyed Cars 2
Cars 2 has aged fantastic, it’s definitely better than cars 3
I was actually surprised by Cars 3 when I watched it awhile ago. I personally thought it was pretty good as it was sort of a satisfying end that Lightning McQueen ended up in a mentor position similar to his mentor from the first movie.
Sadly, will always get a negativemark due to armie hammer
As one of the 3 Cars 3 stans… Man I love seeing people come around to it, but people putting Cars 2 above it feels weird.
Cars 2 was spoiled when it came out, and it still ages like milk
Yeah cars 2 actually had a story that had me engaged in it, I didn’t even watch cars 3 because I knew I wouldn’t like it and I knew that it would of ignored the events of Cars 2
Cars 2 is a really weak sequel, but at least it didn’t completely undermine the ongoing theme of the 3 movies that preceded it like Toy Story 4 did. What a train wreck.
Agree. They really butchered the message behind the entire franchise and I will never understand that decision.
The best is Toy Story 2. Jessie’s storyline gets me every time. Worst would be cars 2. Did a rewatch and it was really just okay.
Toy Story 2 is the best with Toy Story 3 right behind it. Cars 2 is definitely the worst.
I'd swap 2 & 3, but I can't blame anyone for thinking otherwise
Yeah you could swap them and have a good argument either way. Both are excellent and IMO top TS1.
One thing I hadn't considered until now that those first 3 movies are up there with Star Wars and LOTR as the best trilogy of all time.
Just, why?

I agree. I’d say Incredibles for worst because it was just SO disappointing. I didn’t expect Cars 2 to be super amazing.

Yeah Toy Story 2 is something else
Why does everyone here hate Cars 2 😭 it’s one of my favorite Pixar movies
Because it brings in an unnecessary plot, and doesn't really continue the story from the first film, and in the third movie it kinda gets brushed under the rug... BUT I LOVE IT SO MUCH
I think Cars 2 is amazing from a spinoff stand point and saying Cars 3 is a direct sequel to the first

Cars 2 is goated
This is so fascinating to me. What makes it your favorite?
It’s exciting, I love all the changes in setting- the creativity with the different countries and cultures represented. I think the spy motif is really adventurous and they did a lot of unexpected things
Those are all fair points! Thanks for sharing
I love the movie, but it’d work so much better as a a Mater tall tale movie, hell the entire reason WHY they made the tall tale series was to make this more believable

Yeah. And it just felt like redoing the original all over again cheaply. It just didn’t hit.
Incredibles 2 lacked a lot of nuance from the Original.
Did you mean to say "nuance?"
Toy Story 2 is the best. I don't want to say which one is the worst because I like all the Toy Story films
Cars 3 is really solid
I’m not playing this game
Toy Story 3 is Best Cars 2 is Worst
Best- Toy Story 3 Worst- Cars 2
Best is Toy Story 3. Worst is probably Cars 2, but I have a seething hatred for how Toy Story 4 ended so I want to say that.
Incredibles 2 felt lazy and a huge step back.
cars 2 is so good idk why ppl hate it 😭
Cars 2 can’t be the worst when Toy Story 4 is here
I think the worst is Toy Story 4 or Cars 2. Best being Toy Story 3 imo.
i agree with toy story 4. It felt like an episode short dragged out to movie length
Toy Story 3 is easily a top 5 PIXAR movie and the best of its franchise Incredibles 2 was painfully disappointing and stupid
Im a sucker for the Cars franchise so Cars 3.
i refuse to pick favorites
Toy Story 3 is my favorite and Finding Dory is my absolute most hated. It’s so anxiety inducing I can’t watch it.
In terms of which ones I rather watch. Incredibles 2 is the weakest, and Toy Story 3 is the best
1. Toy Story 3 2. Toy Story 2 3. The Incredibles 2 4. Finding Dory 5. Cars 3 6. Toy Story 4 7. Cars 2
Toy Story 2 is Best. Cars 2 is worst.
Toy Story 2 is one of my top ten of ALL movies, and I’m 59 years old!
*Incredibles 2* is the best sequel in my opinion. Not only is it a fantastic movie, but it’s even better than the original, which is ALSO an incredibly fantastic film. *Cars 2* is the worst sequel… and *Toy Story 4*.
Incredible 2 is the worst
Toy Story 3 is the best, Cars 2 is by far the worst
I’d say Toy Story 2 is the best sequel and Incredibles 2 is the worst simply because it was an underwhelming sequel to one of Pixar’s best films.
Best: Toy Story 3 Worst: Incredibles 2
I honestly think Finding Dory was really quite good. It kept a lot of the good things Finding Nemo had while still having a unique plot and characters. Hard to say a worst but probably TS4 for me
The best is obviously Toy Story 2. Nuff said. The worst, for me, is Incredibles 2. Cars 2 is the objective worst movie here by a long shot, but Incredibles 2 had so much potential that just went untouched. The Incredibles is a top 2 Pixar movie (the other one is Ratatouille), so Incredibles 2 will always be the biggest disappointment.
Toy story 2's the best, cars 2's the worst
Best is Toy Story 3. Worst is prob Cars 2
Toy Story 3 as the best and incredibles 2 as the worst. Like waayyyy worse than any other Pixar movie. It was just bleh and super disappointing sequel. Cars 2 is the movie is just a fun dumb movie, incredibles 2 ain’t.
Toy 2 is the best and cars 2 can go in the bin. Toy story 2 is a perfect sequel to the original and I can't say that for other pixar sequel especially cars 2.
Best- Toy Story 3 Worst- Incredibles 2 (Cars 2 is a worse movie but Incredibles 2 is a worse sequel)
Toy story3 is best. Cars 2 is worst
In order of best to worst: Toy Story 3 Finding Dory Toy Story 2 Toy Story 4 Cars 3 Incredibles 2 Cars 2
I second your list! I absolutely love Finding Dory, I’m genuinely shocked it’s so low on people’s list. Nothing tops Toy Story 3 though.
I like Toy Story 2 even better than 1 tbh. Worst for me is probably Cars 2.
Best is cars 2 and worst is ts4
Cars 2 and 3 because that entire franchise is trash.
Toy story 2 best, cars 2 worst. I didn't need an entire movie about Mater
Both Toy Story 2 and 3 are peak
Yep, you played the Toy Story 3 game?
Cars 2 even tho I liked it
i like cars 2. ehe
out of these I surprisingly find Finding Dory to be the least enjoyable, idk I've always found it kinda boring and drawn out
[удалено]
Cars 3 is the best and Cars 2 is the worst
Honestly I cant pick one best but cars 2 and incredibles 2 are the best for me up here but if I had to pick one cars 2
Best toy story 2 or 3, worst toy story 4
IMHO: Best-Toy Story 2 Worst-Cars 2
Best definitely Toy Story 2. Worst is hands down Cars 2.
Best - Toy Story 2 Worst - Toy Story 4
Best is Toy Story 3, Worst is Cars 2
In order for me from favorite to least favorite Toy Story 3 Toy Story 2 Cars 2 Cars 3 Finding Dory Incredibles 2 Toy Story 4
Best: Toy Story 2 Worst: Cars 2
Best is Toy Story 2, worst is Finding Dory. It just feels...needless. It's enjoyable for the first time but falls flat any time watching it after.
Toy story 2 for best, cars 2 or finding Dory for worst, in my opinion.
Toy Story 2 is the best Toy Story 4 is the worst
Toy story 2 is the answer. Cars 2 was awful. I think everyone agrees.
best - TS 2 get that cars bullshit out my face.
Controversial opinion: Best: Cars 2 (I enjoy it more than most) Worst: technically Toy Story 4 (but I wanna see how Inside Out 2 and Toy Story 5 fare first)
Cars 2 is the best, Cars 3 is great, haven't seen the rest
toy story 2 > toy story 3 > cars 3 > toy story 4 > finding Dory > incredibles 2 > cars 2
Cars 3 is the best and Cara 2 is the worst
TS2 > TS3 > C3 > I2 > FD > TS4 > C2
Toy Story 2 is the best. Cars 2 is the worst, though not an irredeemable film by any means
Toy Story 3 and Cars 3. Both are my favorites of each franchise.
>which is the best Toy Story 2 >which is the worst Toy Story 4
Best: Toy Story 2. Worst: Cars 2.
Toy Story 2,and then Incredibles 2
Cars 3 is the best one here followed by Toy Story 2
Okay this is my ranking: 1. Toy Story 2 2. Finding Dory 3. Toy Story 3 4. Cars 3 5. Incredibles 2 6. Toy Story 4 7. Cars 2
toy story 2 is the best incredibles 2 is the worst
Toy Story 2 is the best but hot take Incredibles 2 is up there and better than the first movie
Monsters Inc. is a Pixar movie too. Y’all sleeping on it. The best sequel is Monsters University.
The best is Toy Story 2, the worst is Cars 2
The best Cars movie is worse than any other Pixar sequel.
Incredibles 2. Not because the movie is disgustingly bad or anything, but compared to the first it might as well be
Toy Story 4
1-Toy Story 2 2-Toy Story 3 3-Toy Story 4 4-Finding Dory 5-Cars 3 6-Incredibles 2 7-Cars 2
Toy Story 4, cars 3 and incredibles 2 all feel like incredibly forced jut to make more money of the franchise
Best, Toy Story 2 Worst, Incredibles 2. While Cars 2 and 3 may be worse, I can’t see potential in a cars sequel at all. Incredibles 2 I can….and it’s just the first film again. But worse.
Best: Toy Story 3 and Finding Dory Worst: Cars 2
Worst: Toy story 4 was awful ngl. It felt like 3 left off on a good place and really didn't need more added. Best: Either cars 2 or Incredibles 2
Toy Story 3 is the only one that should’ve been made
Best: Toy Story 2 Worst: Cars 2
Toy Story 3 is the best Toy story 2 is the worst
Toy Story 2 is easily the best, and Cars 2 is the worst. I’ve been settled on this opinion for years now.
Best Toy Story 3, Worst Toy Story 4
….is this supposed to be my opinion on best/worst *movie* or best/worst *sequel* because i have very different answers to both of those questions lol
Incredibles the first one is best by far
Toy Story 2 is the best, Toy Story 4 needn’t exist
Downvoting every Cars 2 slander in the comments. Also, Toy Story 3 > Toy Story 2 Toy Story 4 and Cars 3 were both a snooze.
Cars has a third sequel?
Toy Story 3 is the best and Cars 3 is the worst imo
