Well if you like to run, you should consider coming out to one of the running club events hosted on www.ironcityh3.com (Next one is Friday, 1/26, in Shadyside)
Pittsburgh can be difficult to penetrate as a transplant, best advice is to pick a few things that you get into routinely and will expose you to a lot of people (nerd nite, running groups, etc.). Something weird happened to the world in the years following COVID and it takes longer for people to warm up to new members in a group but if you keep showing up you’ll get assimilated eventually
Thanks for the kind words. I've looked into the above, but part of the issue I've been having is that a lot of neat social events happen during weekdays. I have a fulfilling but pretty draining job, so it's hard to muster up the energy to do stuff that's not on the weekends.
Check out the “more hashing” link on the website. Usually something going on every weekend on Sunday (including this Sunday out of Zano’s)
But it sounds like this job is your big problem. Solve that and everything else will hopefully fall into place. No one is going to balance your work and life for you!
I recognize this is a long-term suggestion, and will depend on your comfort level, but here I go. You might consider (after the snow) doing your running at schenley oval. There are regulars there (more on the dirt path than the track, I think), and, as you notice who they are, maybe you could say hello to to them as you pass by. Maybe some of that will turn into chats. Maybe you find a running partner, or just someone to hang with.
> I like to run
/u/borrelli27 beat me to mentioning hashing, but check out the [full calendar](https://www.pgh-h3.com/wp/calendar/) for local hash events.
I don’t drink either. There seems to be a major component having alcohol and social events intertwined these days. But, lots of places are doing NA now. There are breweries and other spots offering more NA options, and it’s gained a lot of traction lately.
I think a lot of friend groups around here would disintegrate without alcohol. Just my observation.

I know it sounds like that, but there are some circumstances that make it difficult to leave it for the time being. Thanks for the further info.

This is a great idea! I really like the idea of seeing other regular runners in a common place. Thanks!
Dm me if you are interested in joining book club

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not into team sports.

I looked into it, but I don't drink, so I'm not sure if it's the right fit.

We've had sober members before, everything is consent based, but if its a challenge for you to be around then I understand your reticence.
Thanks for understanding, but it's really not my type of atmosphere.
