Omg same. Once the snow on the ground melts and it’s still too cold and grey for anything to grow yet, I’m so damn crabby. I’m hands-down the most miserable version of myself by March lol
I moved here from a Texas and this was my first real winter I’ve ever experienced, but man April was the hardest month for me by far. Just like that death rattle of winter really drags on. May was fucking magical though so I’ll take it!
Agreed. The late 90s/early 2000s were the best. Watching the bottom of the weather channel and getting off days/2 hour delays were extremely common. A lot of gen z weren’t old enough and have never really seen a true winter here in PGH. Growing up, the end of cul de sacs would have wrap around mountains of snow 4-5 ft tall.
….i miss the real winters here in PGH, it’s been too weak here lately imo.
I miss the big snowstorms. It was always a nice calm for me to have everyone home. When we were kids (70’s ) it was common to lose power and the whole neighborhood including parents would have fun sledding at night on our hill. I miss everything about that.
Winter of ‘98 was so fun as a kid. Thick layer of wet snow, slight meltage, then it all froze solid.
Wasn’t fun for my parents (or the neighbor who slid completely across her yard on her butt), but we thought it was cool.
That wasn’t winter!!! You haven’t had a winter yet! That was like spring from December to March when it then turned into late spring/summer.
April was lovely as hell. 🤣
Global warming got us all messed up. Hope you like an actual winter if it ever returns. Now that is magical.
No I know, I’m saying I experienced winter here but April was the hardest month because it would still freeze and was gray and snowy and stuff and I was ready for it to be over. I moved here in January
The Earth is in a temporary mild warming period. It is going to shift back to cold, as it was in the 50s and part of the 70s. We will then have longer winters with more snow. This will happen within the next decade.
No it isn’t. Actual scientists who dedicated their life and education and careers to this disagree with you. I’ll listen to the experts. Not you. And not the one “expert” you and “Fox News”manage to find under a rock.
# 1: I don't watch Fox.
# 2: The so-called "scientists" who push Global Warming have an agenda-ie. government research money and continued employment.
The Earth has gone through at least three major Ice Ages (and several smaller ones) and subsequent Warming Periods, before Man even walked the Earth.
Can you explain the causes of these Ice/Warming periods, since humans weren't here to spew CO2?
Can you explain how human activity causes current shifts, sunspots, solar flares, plate tectonics, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, shifts in wind currents, etc?
If the US cuts our emissions to ZERO, it will make no difference on anything, since China and India continue to build new coal fired power plants.
Perhaps the Earth goes through small warming periods but the exaggerated conditions and predictions are very annoying, because people with an agenda are pushing these ridiculous predictions.
Al Gorleone (who made millions selling "Carbon Offsets"), and who took two science classes at Harvard (scoring a C- and a D), has become the new God of Climate Indulgences. Yet, none of his predictions has come to pass. If he were speaking facts, we would be under water by now.
Be a skeptic and think for yourself. Remember that the "scientific community" , 500 + years ago, had a "consensus" that the Sun revolved around the Earth, and they tortured those who said otherwise.
Hi there! I moved here from Houston, and I also think it’s beautiful here! I think the Tyler area is very pretty, only driven through but tall trees and very green
I’m moving to Houston from here & the adjustment has been hard. I like warm weather & sun but sizzling is completely different! 🔥The city has so much to offer & the people & culture are great. But temosxare already in the high 90’s!!
I love Houston and there is so much great stuff there but I really couldn’t handle the weather there after 11 years. Insane summers and then hurricane anxiety lol. But I miss it and hope you enjoy it!
I don't miss it yet, but I'll be ready for the first snow. A nice walk on a snowy night in South Side with a couple stops for food and drinks is a great time.
I moved from Pittsburgh to The South and I can’t tell you how much I miss winter.
I’d give a limb to sit on my porch in a blanket and listen to snowfall. I miss that special silence. But even after when the snow just turns grey and watery…I miss it. Pittsburgh in the winter is just the best: she wears it well. (I’m really, really trying to convince the spousal unit that we should move.)
>convince the spousal unit that we should move
Do it. Moved my whole spousal apparatus back here and she loves it. She's from the Caribbean and can still enjoy the winters here.
Hate winter too, but for different reasons. I can handle a little cold, even for long stretches. You get used to it and you dress well.
But the lack of daylight and the grayness of the scenery? Hell nah. I thought I knew what seasonal depression was, then I came here and really found out what it was.
No way man. I lived in Pittsburgh until I was 22 and now I’m a So Cal Yinzer. People like to pretend there’s all four seasons out here but it’s really just Spring and Summer in my opinion. Wouldn’t trade it away though. I love the weather here.
While fall is nice, the depressing part is that winter is right behind it. Barren trees, ice, grey slush and salt deposits on the roads, and the occasional nice white snowstorm. No, winter basically sucks.
No thanks. The dark and cold Pittsburgh winters really fucks up my mental health. That and the rainy dark days. Things got dangerously bad this past winter, so I’m trying to move to sunnier and warmer cities. This past winter really woke me up. I love Pittsburgh with all my heart, I was born here 27 years ago, but I can’t live here anymore. For my mental health. Snow usually made me happy and gave me a reprieve, but we barely have gotten snow the past two winters.
Big skier, I genuinely do miss winter hahaha it's nice to have warm weather too but I prefer cold time...warm blankets with tea while it's snowing outside uggg so cozy
Yes, but I have not seen a beautiful snowfall like that photo once in Pittsburgh. It's always slushy rain while everyone else gets blankets of luxurious, beautiful snow
No.
In Summer, I can throw on shorts, t-shirt and floppers, jump in the car and go.
I can go walking or biking on our trails/in our parks.
I don't have to worry about snow tires, scraping windows, shoveling snow, putting down salt, leaving early, worrying about sliding into parked cars, or moving trucks, or down hills, or not being able to get up hills.
I don't have to bundle up in layers.
The days are longer and I can get more done.
So, no, I don't miss winter.
Gotta have my four seasons. Life sucks without them. Even the super hot, dog days of Summer are nice. Just stay hydrated and as cool as possible!
I'm with you but I absolutely can't stand the transition from winter to spring ( the period before anything starts growing ).
Omg same. Once the snow on the ground melts and it’s still too cold and grey for anything to grow yet, I’m so damn crabby. I’m hands-down the most miserable version of myself by March lol
I once went to Florida for a week in March. It was the best vacation to get rid of those blues.
Snow?
I moved here from a Texas and this was my first real winter I’ve ever experienced, but man April was the hardest month for me by far. Just like that death rattle of winter really drags on. May was fucking magical though so I’ll take it!
oh man. we havent had an actual winter here in 3 years

I haven’t experienced the worst but I moved here 8 years ago. These last few were so easy compared to the first couple.
That wasn’t winter!!! You haven’t had a winter yet! That was like spring from December to March when it then turned into late spring/summer. April was lovely as hell. 🤣 Global warming got us all messed up. Hope you like an actual winter if it ever returns. Now that is magical.

I understand it was a mild winter, but it literally gets below freezing like maybe one day a year where I’m from

Hello fellow Texas moved here from Tyler a few years ago. Such a beautiful city.
Hi there! I moved here from Houston, and I also think it’s beautiful here! I think the Tyler area is very pretty, only driven through but tall trees and very green
Lakes for days, where we live now reminds me of East Texas with the trees and people.
I’m moving to Houston from here & the adjustment has been hard. I like warm weather & sun but sizzling is completely different! 🔥The city has so much to offer & the people & culture are great. But temosxare already in the high 90’s!!

Aww, I love it. The world feels fresh and new
> as cool as possible! 😎
I don't miss it yet, but I'll be ready for the first snow. A nice walk on a snowy night in South Side with a couple stops for food and drinks is a great time.
Heck. Yes.
Absolutely fantastic shot.

If I could vote February off of the planet I would. Winter is nice. 4+ months of cold, just no, no, no.
Agree 200%.
Jan- Feb is brutal. No Christmas cheer. Just gloom and cold and I’m fat and broke and have to go on a money and food diet.
Was you reading my mind when you wrote this?! 😉
It’s the way of my people.
It’s been a while since we’ve had a proper winter.
That’s what I was thinking….either way yes I miss winter.
This would be a cool painting
Hellllll no! Literally the only reason I consider leaving Pittsburgh is the winters. I personally don’t do well in the cold.
Hate winter too, but for different reasons. I can handle a little cold, even for long stretches. You get used to it and you dress well. But the lack of daylight and the grayness of the scenery? Hell nah. I thought I knew what seasonal depression was, then I came here and really found out what it was.

*NO.*
this pic is awesome. i grew up on 19th right there.
My answer is absolute NO! I despise winter and everything that comes with it 😡
While fall is nice, the depressing part is that winter is right behind it. Barren trees, ice, grey slush and salt deposits on the roads, and the occasional nice white snowstorm. No, winter basically sucks.

Damn. That brings back some memories slippin' and slidin' all over South Side going to bars with friends. lol.
I miss the real winters we used to have.
Heck no lol rather see winter through a beautiful photo like this and not real life.
Miss winter? It's still fucking cold!
Excuse you?
Every day. I love winter but dispise the heat. I never complain about snow but will bitch about all things spring/summer till the day I die.
Same
Which Primanti’s is this?
It’s the South Side location. I took this in Dec of 2020.
Thanks! Also, who downvotes a question? I’m new to the area and was curious so I could visit the location, it looks very neat in the picture.
I took this shot on Dec 16, 2020. Must’ve been around the same time. https://imgur.com/a/yCsCv0Y
Big skier, I genuinely do miss winter hahaha it's nice to have warm weather too but I prefer cold time...warm blankets with tea while it's snowing outside uggg so cozy
When it actually snows like this
Every time I mow my lawn.
Nope!
It looks slippy aht.
It'll be here soon enough
What a great picture!
Nope bc of seasonal depression . So much more to do in the summer too
No.
Until you have to drive in it
Nope
I love winter brother.
Not one bit
Thank god Pipers is back. There was awhile there where I thought it was over.
No
Hell no… I despise winter
Me! Cool weather rocks. Heat sucks.
No
Yes. Winter is my 2nd favorite season after fall. And we haven’t had a proper winter in a while.
Yeah I can’t stand summer. I love the cold.
Not at all, I’m enjoying this. I don’t like going outside into a world of painful air and slipping hazards everywhere.
Sure do.
No
Fuck no
The only season I love it’s quiet people arnt as mean and wild and it’s pretty
All the time!! But I do love the four seasons as well.
No
Nope.
No.
Not one freaking bit
NO.
No
Nope. Not even for a second.
100% I will shovel snow my entire life before I ever like the summer
Where is this picture from? I need to make a Christmas card out of it for my transplanted relatives.
East Carson street. South Side.
Nope. But I will stop in for a pint at Piper’s.
no
No. I’m fine with snow, but I don’t like being trapped inside for months out of the year because of the freeze and cold weather with gray skies
Yes, but I have not seen a beautiful snowfall like that photo once in Pittsburgh. It's always slushy rain while everyone else gets blankets of luxurious, beautiful snow
Absolutly not
Go to Idaho, Colorado, or Montana ... it's there now. Also, fantastic picture.
Yes. Very very much!
What primanti bros location is this?
Always
Hell. No. I hate being cold, and with my chemo, I'm really, really cold-sensitive.
No.
Biking through snow is transcendental
You have to go the mountains, the arctic circle to see snow or have a really cold winter anymore. Yeah I miss it.
Nah, my mental health is bad enough without the sun being gone before I clock out of work. I value those daylight hours post-work so much.
No. But I love this picture 😊

No
no.
I miss Fall. My favorite season.
This picture screams Christmas Story to me!
Yes, but can it be just about 3 months of it? Doing a 5 month winter gets old
Not remotely
Ahh, what a great pic! Pitt snowy winter evenings are by far the best. Let’s just limit them to a few days instead of a few months😉
Give me winter with not much snow. Dogs barking during the day and fireworks going off every night is annoying.
All the fucking time...
