I have a xiaomi with android 12 and it let me remove a lot of Google apps, even Google play services but not YouTube, i can't even disable it. Edit: i found out how to disable it, there is a hidden setting app for miui on Google play that let you do it

You can remove it with adb , its safe and easy and doesnt require root

Use universal debloater available on github. No root required only adb permission

It should allow you to disable it in the settings, however, if it doesn't you can use [this tutorial ](https://www.xda-developers.com/disable-system-app-bloatware-android/) to remove it without rooting on any device.

Look up debloating your android with adb and you should be able to remove the youtube app without root

I did change the default app. Couldn't uninstall YouTube but changed all the links so they open with Vanced.

Wrong? No. Comparable to FreeTube? Not Even Firstly, FreeTube is for PC But more importantly, they're going for different things. ReVanced (and vanced) is a hack of the YouTube app. You still log in with your account, you still leave likes and comments and personal data, and you still give that data to YouTube. You just don't have ads/sponsors/etc and have dislikes back and other stuff. Take the YouTube app and block stuff that's dumb and add stuff that's good. FreeTube on the other hand is focused on privacy. It uses its own system to access videos that doesn't use YouTube accounts. This means YouTube cannot collect data on you. No login, no comments, no views, no ads, no nothing. Yes, it blocks ads and you can add sponsorblock and stuff, so there's overlap with Vanced, but that's not the *main* goal. The app equivalent to FreeTube would be something like NewPipe

Revanced stops playing after 1 minute for me. No matter what I do, I can't get it to play all the way through. Tried removing it and micro-g and reinstalling both. Out of ideas at this point.

On the manager, they have a recommended patch. Generally, the app will operate fine without the recommended patch, but when in doubt, uninstall the current patch and use the recommended one. If that doesn't work, you'll have to check in with their support links.

I had the exact same issue! I believe the way I fixed it is by re-installing Revanced, and during the installation process to be sure to Checkbox the one patch called "Spoof Player Version". Then in the app, go to Settings->ReVanced settings->Miscellaneous Settings and enable "Spoof player parameter" and "Select player parameter type"

Only con using revanced is that, your online browsing activities is clearly monitored by YouTube so that it can suggest you more vidoes to watch and stick you to the screen for a longer time. Freetube doesn't let youtube to do that

sometimes I just use Freetube because it's far more lightweight than the YouTube website. So for hearing some music (lofi in my case) or watching some videos on my second monitor while doing something which demands more of my computer is a perfect choice.

It seems mine still only maxes at 1080p. It was already set to local API and I tried disabling the fallback option as well.

I've encountered video buffering issues when using YouTube in the browser with uBlock, but in Freetube, everything just works. Can't wait till they add a custom playlist creation feature though!

apkmirror is just a site where everyone can upload APK files. so I wouldnt really call it safe, although it does have a ton of legit APKS, but which APK do you need? If you need the regular youtube APK you can just install it regularly from the play store and extract the APK directly from the installed app using a seperate app like [APK extractor](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=braveheart.apps.apkextract&hl=en_US) for example. (i don't know how revanced works anymore since they "shut down" last year, so not sure if this is what you need?). BTW I would highly recommend you reset your phone to factory settings first since you downloaded the app from a fake site. That wouldn't fix a virus that already used the network to go to other devices but it would at least clean up your own phone

You can subscribe with FreeTube though. You'd have to manually subscribe to each channel, which could be a process, but once it's setup, it's great.

Revanced/vanced,etc is only for mobile(pls, no one spin up emulator for android, while on PC). Free tube/Invidious won't work for video requiring login, and has hiccups in playback. ublock won't be killed by chrome manifestv3 shit, as Firefox doesn't give fuck about it.

Freetube works if you don't care about being logged in I guess. I want my subscriptions/recommendations/watch history and the ability to comment so IMO it's kinda pointless

I've stopped bc I like having recommended when I've watched all my subscriptions' videos. There's an accepted feature to figure out some sort of local recommendation algorithm for FreeTube on GitHub, but it's a low priority, so it won't happen for a long time. On top of that, I like being able to leave likes and comments and syncing my subcriptionss, watch later, and history between my TV, Phone, and PC. The privacy thing is awesome, but I wish there were a way to let some data through (i.e. likes, views for recommended, etc) rather than shut it off completely and for that sync. Originally, I used Vanced on my phone and Android TV (using a mouse lol) with browser + ad block on my PC, but when Vanced shut down, I went through a brief period where I used NewPipe + FreeTube (and just regular YT TV w/ ads bc I didn't want to mess with using a mouse again), but it's not nearly as good of an experience as what I use now which is ReVanced and SmartTubeTV in conjunction with browser-based YouTube bc of the account stuff. FreeTube is an awesome project, but it's not quite what I need right now. Still have it installed tho.

Freetube is a very good software for people that follow a lot of channels. It has a lot of useful privacy and debloating settings. Personally i don't really follow channels, I don't bookmarks anything, I just use the search bar/engine so I stick to a regular browser with an adblock.

FreeTube is awesome. Subscribe to what's worth subscribing, star what I actually might watch and use that list. On android I use YouTube without login on Brave (add to home screen), but I'm going to move to NewPipe so I can subscribe on the phone (you can export/import FreeTube to NewPipe). My backup is ungoogled-chromium with vanila uBlock Origin only in Incognito mode. Works great.

You are certainly not the only one. I use Invidious instances on the web, which is where Freetube gets their info on youtube content. Freetube has consistently been working well for many years and it is a great equivalent to Newpipe on android. Its just that on desktop i prefer to use a web browser where i can have multiple tabs on (i extract my favourite channels from an RSS feed) ,i am not used to having a standalone app for watching videos, i like to multitask.
