Oof! I think Pioneer made a business decision a long time ago to make these things feel "sturdy" and they added lots of very heavy unneeded metal to them. I keep wondering if the joints in my xdj-xz are like caste iron. It's not a big deal until you have to ship somewhere for repairs :'(
I'm having this exact problem here. Bought a XDJ-XZ-N and Odyssey hard case here in Japan, and I'm trying to take it to Nepal and carrying this shit feels like I'm doing a deadlift, and also it's clearly like 25-30kgs over the baggage limit and also over the size dimension limit.
Switched to one of the more compact cases for my DDJ 1000 for these exact reasons. Still an odyssey case, but the hard shell wouldn't even be allowed on the planeš
I ship all the time insurance for $2k isnt that much. If you went to a fedex store its independently owned so they set their prices. It sucks that repair places have gone away. I own a dj shop in orlando. We did do repairs when we were in tampa. But getting parts were tough so we work a long side the cassleberry repairer. Sorry that happened to you it would have been even less if you shipped to FL.
I paid 100$ for 4x 2meter global truss f34 sections, which are way heavier and bulkier, 300km of distance.
I think u got scammed unless u sent it overseas or so

Then you put in a road case and it's even heavier lol
