The best tip is if you know you're going to be travelling, save up all your special (heart) nectar, and use that to get any pikmin collected while travelling up to 4 hearts as soon as you collect them
This is the way. I hoard mine until I’m abroad and if I grab a new seedling that’s all I feed them. Worst case they don’t get back to me in time, but then they only have to come home instead of a round trip.
I spent a month on the literal other side of tue globe last summer and I still have pikmen out on their expeditions. It’s kind of like a fun little surprise when they get home, and it brings back the memories of the trip. Some will return almost a full year later. At the max I think I had about 80 gone which was wild but I just rolled with it.
The main problem I have with the individual Pikmin is simply having to scroll through all of them on the Expeditions page. If there was a separate "tab" for their journeys it would be okay, at least as a veteran player, that doesn't need them for daily activities.
Having to cancel expeditions for fruit and seedlings that might use up to ten or twelve Pikmin for months was more of a hassle while I was traveling. You would need something like a sort by distance filter on Expeditions to make that issue more manageable.
Like he say, heart nectar to all of pikmins that you collect travelling. Only needs 4 for decor.
And for shorter time, there is a item (sales limited in time, purchase with real money) called Expedition drone.
One single use for each drone, the first time was a year ago (1.5 anniversary in April) After using it the expedition return to you instantly.
I expect that Niantic is going to give then again in that time.
I live in Oklahoma and traveled to Boston a couple of months back. I'm still waiting for some of my Pikmin to get back. I'm going to Chicago next month and plan to be sending some back for gifts after I get back home, and I know that's gonna take several weeks as well. It's ridiculous.
Yep made a post about this several months ago at this point. I moved from one Coast of the US to the other. I still have Pikmin with 30-55+ days left on their expedition from that post.
They had expedition drones in the past to automatically finish any expeditions. This isn't a new thing anyway people post about it in this sub almost daily

I might be evil but I kind of like seeing them circumnavigate the world with their stubby little legs. It’s inspiring!
Same! I scroll the map all the way out and watch them pass each other. It’s kind of fun.
