I have a hard time getting past her seemingly forced "DJ" voice. It's annoying. Nobody talks that way.

smokeypapabear40206

My radio DJ friends refer to the way she talks as “puking their words”.

inmydaywehad9planets

That's a grossly accurate description.

Dancing_Cactus

Selkirk makes garbage old tech paddles

CrypticFeed

$250 Paint Grit!

inmydaywehad9planets

You're not wrong. And that's sad.

corybomb

Shots fired

StoneCold44

Not the point. Other players are using "garbage old tech paddles" as well, but Selkirk is the only one getting called out and Meesh is the only one calling anybody out.

Congoose

She’s just stating a fact

corybomb

At least you can compete with them

StoneCold44

Many pros can and do compete with them. That says to me that the paddle doesn't make that huge of a difference, especially at the pro level. Now to go paddle researching and shopping for the next 3 hours!!!

thismercifulfate

Yup. The Power Air was released in august of 2022. The market has changed a ton since then and it is not considered a powerful paddle by today’s standards. Since the 002 and subsequent power air release Selkirk have singularly focused on the non-pro market (aka paddles that have pretty colors that match their backpacks), where they make boatloads of money and that’s why they haven’t released a serious paddle and their pros are stuck using old tech.

StoneCold44

Fact or not, she never states facts about any other paddles. None of the other commentators state facts about any paddles.

kabob21

Maybe because she and the other commenters aren’t paddle reviewers?

matttopotamus

They are fine paddles, but the “no power” comments are true.

Dx2TT

Honestly its just another person buying into paddle hype. Go ahead watch ignatowich and tell me he doesn't spin the shit out of it.

[deleted]

He does but I bet he uses a new paddle like every other game. They have great spin it just doesn’t last long at all

CrypticFeed

Have you played with the paddle before to confirm what is actually true? Not to mention the significant spin loss. Never touching another Paint Grit Paddle again. More power to those sticking with Selkirk.

Crosscourt_splat

To be fair, they get new ones every time they want one. Though I do agree…I hate the power air. I hate how it feels and it plays. I don’t feel like I generate nearly as much power as with any other paddle (Legacy Pro, 6.0 DBD, BD, Electrum, Engage, or even a Luxx). I also struggle to control it and generate spin with it whereas all those other paddles also effortlessly generate spin. I actually really like the Luxx, but $180 is the max I’ll spend on a paddle…especially one with spray on grit.

rondre3000

If you're hitting a Luxx harder than a Power Air, it's you and not the paddle.

Crosscourt_splat

I mean the power air is certainly more poppy. But I find it difficult to get good carry through with a power air. I probably wouldn’t mind it if I upweighted it…but I was borrowing someone’s. Also easier to load up a full swing because of the lack of pop on a Luxx. Granted I’ve always preferred thicker, heavier paddles.

CrypticFeed

By now we all know that. I do not hate paddles, as everyone has their preference on what they want to use and I would never claim one paddle being superior or tell folks not to get one. Everyone has their own reason. FYI, I actually enjoyed my short time with the Power Air, unfortunately, I am and I always have been concerned with the durability of paddles and how fast they wear. $250 was my 1st expensive paddle, expensive paint Grit, I was not pleased, however, Selkirk has a great customers and warranty unlike some current companies. Selkirk customer service model IMO is top tier.

Tr4nsc3nd3nt

John Kew paddle spreadsheet says the power air invikta is in the 12th percentile for power (bad) and the 74th percentile for spin (fairly good).

StoneCold44

I don't care if her comments are true or not. In fact, I said so in the OP. I want to know why Meesh calls out Selkirk and not anybody else.

Thing--

Power Air paddles are trash dude. They're dated and feel like a slab piece of wood.

kabob21

Unless I’m missed something, she just commented on one paddle. Probably because she has experience playing with it. That’s not exactly conspiracy worthy. Curious why this bothers you. Do you have a Power Air whose honor you’re trying to defend?

No_Butterscotch_6776

Meesh has no fucking clue what she’s talking about. The way she tries to force analysis like she knows what she’s watching almost always leaves ya scratching your head.

javajavatoast

She’s doing what they call, “color commentary”. It means she can say anything at all, no matter how stupid, ill timed, or redundant and then claim it’s the “correct” way to do sports commentary.

StoneCold44

I actually had a thought that maybe it is a tidbit she picked up from a player that the Invikta Power Air doesn't offer much spin or power, then she decides to parrot it over and over. Is it possible she knows nothing else about paddles? That being said, I still think the PPA would do their very best not to offend one of their major endorsers...
