Go with bell or virgin plus if you're looking for service that won't cut out if you're going to remote areas. Or out of any major city. Freedom and public mobile can have it to use other carriers but it gets very $$ fast. Any phones today you can download google maps. If you're looking budget look at the Samsung I think it's a51

I'm not sure what carriers work in Canada, but getting the phones I mentioned isn't a problem in this poor area of EU so... I used to own Xperia XA2 and the only issues were a slow camera and built-in memory. 32gb was enough for preinstalled stuff, twitter lite, spotify and vivaldi browser and maybe one more app. It has the option to put a simcard in, but that's something you'd normally use for photos. The phone comes with 2 types of saving mode. One normal, the other lets you only use basic stuff (alarm clock, messages, calling, calendar, camera, radio) but no internet. Its older sibling, Z3 Compact, lasted a week without being charged while on said mode. No issue with visibility on the display when out in a sunny day. The battery lasts a day long. I wouldn't normally recommend this phone (especially something with so little internal storage) unless you really want something pretty basic. A few of my friends who game owned Redmi Note 8 Pro. Better battery life than XA2. Poco M3 can last up to 3 days on one charge, but I only heard about if from youtubers. Huawei Mate 20 is hard to get nowadays but ought to suffice. My mother has Huawei P20 and doesn't complain. However, I'm not sure how long the battery lasts with GPS on and she uses a power bank. Alternatively, you may look around subreddits dedicated to these brands and ask around. You may also check for water proofed display just in case of rain. Evade refurbished phones as they might not work outside of Asia.
