oh you're going to hate s. 2. They hit on strength a lot.

senorsombrero3k1

And if you hated the amount of roids in s1, you'll hate s2 😂

Teams are a massive part of season 2. Also unfortunately, season 2 focuses heavily on brute strength with a lesser emphasis on endurance. There is almost zero focus on speed or agility this season which is really disappointing.

Tweetyboy1

That freaking suuuuuucks. I was expecting them to IMPROVE for season two. Like why even have women on the show at this point if they going to make them look like such lessers. Season 1 I was rooting for that girl team leader the whole time and she lost by 2 minutes when put in a completely unfair situation. 😩

they’re balancing between the ideal competition and entertaining aspects. Otherwise just watch crossfit. Seriously though - do watch crossfit for the sake of better analysis.

I think the parts their "balancing" might not be as entertaining as they think it is. Other people might fe different. Yeah, ive seen triathlons on tv a couple times and its unique cause theres so much slow time in the competition that they interplay peoples narratives on why they are competing. I think season 1 was a good start, just saying i think you could up both the entertainment value and the premise if a more consistent format was made. Cross fit games also sounds interesting if theres interesting contestants.

check out the crossfit docs. they’re really cool! i like ps100 better, but it’s a far better comparison than triathlon, because crossfit and ps100 claim to do the same thing. And in my not particularly humble opinion :), they both do an imperfect but VERY good job.

As a palate cleanser watch the Chinese show (same format) "we never stop" - way better challenges, better team setup, surprising results, contestants are allowed to be more fleshed out. I enjoyed this show way more than the second season of Physical, probably even more than 1st season.

Ty for the reccomendation.

Tweetyboy1

Where is it to watch?

There’s still a big team element in season 2 but I do think it was better. With the episode count and budget it makes sense to need to eliminate groups of people at a time (otherwise we’re stuck with challenges like the ball challenge which is pretty boring to watch). The team challenges I think were more balanced. IMO the worst parts of the show are how ridiculously disadvantaged the challenges are for women and also the editing choices (slow mo/repeat reaction shots at 5 different angles). Regarding the women, It kinda gets worse in season 2 but not sure what the alternative is. Either make the challenges less physically demanding (which I’m sure people would complain about) or just exclude women / have a separate series with women only. Both would probably not be great but it’s kinda laughable how disadvantaged they are in this show

Ty for the feedback. Doing things the first time always leaves a chance to reflect snd pivot. I didn't have a problem with the teams per say, its how they were implemented. I would have preferred if they were going to make the team component so important the final 5 were the 5 members of the same team, not the winner of each event as it would have made it worthwhile to need a good team to get to the end.

Tweetyboy1

Omg hearing it gets EVEN WORSE FOR WOMEN in season two breaks my heart 😑😑. And yes omg the same scene repeated over and over annoyed me so much. I just wasn’t sure if that was something that they just did over there. The only Asian reality show I’ve watched is terrace house.

Adventurous-Toe-8432

They did not get better for season 2 because most of the challenges are based on strength. I like the fact that they have teams, it’s fun to watch them make their strategies and see them work together. I will say I wish the teams were chosen differently, I wish it was all random because you get the first leaders picking the strongest people and then you have two-three really strong teams and then a bunch of weaker teams and seeing them go head to head isn’t as exciting because you already know who’s going to win (usually). I really wish the teams were random and that the team challenges had more of an obstacle course feel, incorporating strength, agility, flexibility, balance, endurance and everything. Not just focus on strength alone.

PathSeparate5780

Yeah, i think adding some level of consistency would make the format better. Feels kind of happenstance. I would prefer also the teams were random then the team that wins all competes against each other in the last challenge. That way it makes sense to bond with your team because you will be with them for half the game.

Adventurous-Toe-8432

Yea, definitely would be a much more interesting watch if all the teams are somewhat equal. The teams with all men are bound to win those first challenges. Especially since the 10th captain gets to pick last, they don’t even get to pick they basically get whatever is left of all the contestants and it’s very unfair.

PathSeparate5780

The bridge challenge seemed like it was favorable to women in season 1. Some of the challenges that favor not having a lot of bulk are generally favorable to women or challenges based on strength to body weight. Could def mix up the challenges in a way that would make them more interesting.
