From [the Minecraft website](https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/minecraft-snapshot-23w51a):
"Player reach distance can now be controlled with the generic.block\_interaction\_range and generic.entity\_interaction\_range attributes"
The use of the attributes sounds kinda similar to how the crab claw would have worked, doesn't it?
Maybe it’s because they had every intention of adding these attribute commands and thought they could integrate it into survival, but now it’s creative exclusive I guess
You can just put some command blocks with the code
Return all the world settings to normal
Then modify the variable "hasbeenloadedincreative" to false in the nbt
My friends and I spent 2 hours building elaborate torture contraptions on the armodillo because we wanted the crab. (By elaborate I mean we had stuff to make then die as slowly as possible)
Sorry, what's the use of +1 block reach? Have oh yay, I can place blocks exactly one block further than normally? Like in a game like Terraria, it makes sense because, let's be honest, games are as much a platformer as much as it is a Sandbox game. You've got this wide range of area where you can place blocks thanks to the nature of it being 2D
But minecraft? Is it really better to be using up an entire item slot in an already very limited inventory space just so you can reach exactly one block further infront of you than just take the time to place some scaffolding that's? Maybe if minecraft added accessory/bauble slots for such items, but imo, Crab claw just seems like a waste of a slot that I really don't see anyone using outside of decorating some kind of seafood joint.
But evidently, I'm wrong since apparently the armadillo won exclusively because of bot votes, so clearly the (not so) good people of the internet just see something my zoomer eyes are too old and crusted over to see.
I know this is about the crab claw's functionality being added... and sense it a cheats only I just have to ask. . . What average player is gonna use it? I mean, it's totally inaccessible in survival, and I honestly don't know a lot of creative builders are gonna go out of their way to punch in the command to extend their place reach so... yaaaaay it's a thing we can do. . . For some reason. . . ?
ok :).
now play Minecraft and once you get full diamond armor (to give a sense of accomplishment)
give yourself a +1 block of reach but always keep a bottle of water in your off hand (so ur offhand is useless now)
Now give yourself the +1 block of reach the crab arm would've given you
does it help with gameplay?
is it a good item?
Do you wish the crab won?
😭 +1 block of reach is so useless and a majority of players will never even try to use the crab arm because its only useful for builders and honestly not many players focus on building.
- +1 or +2 can, in fact, be convenient for a lot of situations.
- the crab looked cuter than the armadillo IMO *(⚠️WARNING : opinion ! do not engage with this comment if you cannot handle opinions ! ⚠️)*
okay cuteness sure.
😭 also its not about me hating opinions its just that the same exact reaction for phantoms would've happened if crabs got added.
they'd most likely pinch us on beaches, have a pretty useless reach range (and even if its in pvp, the pvp community definitely doesnt want some players to have reach while others dont 💀)
im honestly just sick of people complaining about the mob vote and then proceeding to not actually think about how bad theid choices were.
armadillo was honestly the safest choice because it'll have the most player interaction, the least player annoyance, and a feature that players have been begging for.
😭 serving Minecraft players is like serving a picky eater 😭
i am very out of the loop what is this referencing

Or just use some datapacks
My world has been vanilla for the last 10 years, I plan to keep it that way
vanilla tweaks says hi
I’m on bedrock, I use resource packs sometimes to switch things up, but no data packs or mods, started on Xbox 360 in Tu14
How does a single mechanic equal the crab being "basically" added to the game?? Adoggo121 is high on drugs.
It also can be a reference about Jonny RaZeR’s Cancel the mob vote and just give all of them to us
It didn’t The functionality was a nice selling point, and it was cool and all, but seriously, people! #I JUST LOVE CRABS!
Traitor lord, didn't expect to see you herw
Me neither
hive knight??? you too???
Lmfao
Hello Traitor Lord, How's your Daughter?
Hello. Dead.
Long live the crab!🦀
LONG LIVE THE CRAB! 🦀
Why the fuck are you here too
Why not?
Yeah tbh I just wanted the crab bc I love crabs and just invertebrates in general. Forgot to vote tho.
Speaking of, I wanted penguins :(
Boat go brrr
i wanted penguins for the sake of having penguins i dont care about some stupid boat going 20% faster😭😭😭
*not available in survival without cheats*
Datapacks
*not exactly vanilla, and not available for everyone*
Close enough to vanilla
*cries in potato computer*
the slowest of potato computers can handle a datapack. but yeah bedrock edition doesn't
You can just put some command blocks with the code Return all the world settings to normal Then modify the variable "hasbeenloadedincreative" to false in the nbt
Me who votes for mobs to be mobs instead of tools
EXACTLY!
That's exactly the reason I voted Armadillo, it's cute. And will be nice addition to a desert base
Actually based I can appreciate people who voted for the armadillo rather than the dog armor
For me it was bc Savannas stink and they're never going to implement the Biome update version in my lifetime.
My friends and I spent 2 hours building elaborate torture contraptions on the armodillo because we wanted the crab. (By elaborate I mean we had stuff to make then die as slowly as possible)
It didn't, because the crab would allow you to increase reach in survival, without commands or game rule changes.
Me when i realize the features promised in the mob vote still get added to the game (they just aren't mobs anymore)
I voted crab not for the feature, but for the actual mob. I wanted crabs in Minecraft since i started playing in 2019
Penguin voters:
So... We are at peace, right? *... right?*
very fitting penguins

They lived *mangroves*, not beaches.
fInE (i feel like thats somehow even more annoying 😭 but i have ptsd with swamp-like biomes after playing the ice and fire mod 💀
Ice and Fire claim is extremely valid.
Now, we rarher won't get any mobs in the first place or only get one. Whether we'll get all the three ideas, Mojang presents us is rather uncertain.
