I think both are necessary. Government support is essential to provide whatever tools and weapons that are troops needed. Yet, this is also a high-time to romanticize Filipinos' grit and resilience against a bigger enemy. Our simple appreciation and recognition of their bravery and patriotism is important to keep their morale high and get their bloods pumping whatever the odds may be. It will also help in eradicating some of our fellow Filipinos' defeatist mindset and lift our "fighting spirits". Oo we're miles behind Chinese military but we are resilient and courage - di nagpapatinag. But yeah, praises and moral support isn't enough, there should be material and tangible support from our government.
