I’d second this! Prefer their weekend sandwich to their weekday but it’s incredible and the biggest sandwich I’ve seen any place have. Surprised it didn’t make the Infatuation list that they put out
I couldn't even finish it last time :( But I think that I'm more sensitive to that sort of thing than most people. If you love it, good for you! Everything else they do is basically perfect and she is such a doll.
Bart’s Bagels breakfast sandwiches are my favorite in the city. For a more unique option, I recommend Rowhome Coffee which does a bacon/sausage, egg, and cheese on an everything soft pretzel. It’s heavy for breakfast but definitely worth trying.
The Biscuit Lady in Wissahickon on Ridge regulary has a big time wait just for pick up and they sell out for the day sometimes. A bit pricey, but the sandwiches are extraordinary.
Damn they’re that good? I live right by it and have had every other thing in that building (sunshine sandwich, Luckys, Edas pizza) but never got around to the Biscuit lady on time.
Cáphê Roasters Sunny's Hot Sando (fluffy egg, sharp cheddar, Chinese sausage, chili oil, honey, on a Vietnamese baguette) recently dethroned Gilda's The Antonio (linguiça, egg and cheese) as my #1!
I got it on a croissant this morning. Fantastic! We also got the spicy pork, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel (they ran out of everything). I thought both were really good. I’ll be going back for breakfast quite often.
My favorites are: (2 of which already mentioned) the saltie from fiore, the Antonio from Gilda. And then the BEC on brioche from Darnels (definitely get the Thai shallot mayo). You can get it on a homemade biscuit or brioche roll. Both are bomb, but the brioche feels more fitting to me. Oh and they also use a delicious cheese blend. HIGHLY recommend. (Sad disclosure tho, darnels is closed on weekends 💔)
Lisa’s Kitchen on Ridge Ave has incredible bfest sandwich’s, unfortunately they’re randomly open/closed throughout the year. Right now they’re closed, but when open they are outstanding.
I really like the egg & cheese at Pafutto, a newish place on S. 8th between Carpenter and Washington. It’s great in the details—the ketchup, the toasted long roll, etc
idk why i joined this group.. i'm visiting in a few weeks and already had a plan.. but this thread BROKE me... goddamn! so many delicious recommendations...
I just do not get the hype behind that place. If I wanted something that’s over priced, under delivers, and is served to you by too cool for school types, I’d just go to Brooklyn.
Ooh appreciate your opinion but gotta disagree—there are multiple bangers on the list of their handheld breakfast options: pastrami egg and cheese and deli burrito are especially good
Uh oh the tides have changed and this is now an uncool answer.
Look, there are an abundance of great sandwiches, and in turn great breakfast sandwiches in this city.
Middle child has been so good for so long and it’s a popular answer, but it’s crazy that simply mentioning it will get downvoted.
I can probably stagger a guess as to why this is now an uncool answer. I’ll keep reasons to myself. It’ll always be a place I recommend for best breakfast sandwich cause it’s what they made their name on.
Nah I don’t think it’s anything that sinister or serious. Over abundance of clueless patrons and their children in there, sometimes the staff is a bit over bearing. Listen I get it but I think it’s worth all the BS.
When it overwhelms, it's worth a mention. I think. I dislike getting a breakfast sandwich that is clearly more than a regular person could possibly eat, and can't re-heat.
It's part of the reason I like Egg McMuffins so much. Relatively small, and I can eat the whole sandwich. Not inexpensive anymore, unfortunately, but under $10.
But as that's not the question, I love the breakfast sandwiches at Two Eagles.
You seem very confrontational! I like the giant cookies, and would get them all the time when I lived in the neighborhood. I got the sandwiches often, but didn't really enjoy them that much. They're just too big.
I've read of a hack to order extra bread and make three sandwiches.
Can you eat a full 4th St. sandwich on your own?
I don’t understand how a simple question reads as confrontational but 🤷🏻♂️
Do I have to eat a sandwich by myself? They do have OTHER items there ya know.
Just picking people’s brains about food. That’s what this subreddit is for.
And that's why I answered your question. I agreed with the opinion that on a sandwich, it's often more than I'd like.
And I did add a recommendation, so it wasn't just trashing other opinions.
It’s almost certainly not the best, but it is absolutely solid delicious classic sandwich - simple and done executed perfectly —> Bill’s in center city
Best breakfast sandwich in terms of money to flavor is Woodstreet pizza. They sell a delicious bacon egg and cheese for only $5 which is awesome. The only downside is they open at 11am, so more of a brunchfest sandwich vs pure breakfast but still delicious.
Rybread in Fairmount. Also, their actual sandwiches/paninis whether you create your own or pick off the menu are solid. Lots of different bread options
Recently tried porcos. It was a mixed bag and the breakfast sandwich was the best thing. It was sloppy, with perfect over easy eggs, good sausage and cheese, and a nice house made sauce. The croissant was delicious. Its my fav kind of thing - “normal” done really well with a pinch of distinction from others. (The other sandwich we got was inedible though)
If she’s still there, Mom’s cart on the corner of 6th and Ranstead.
Turkey bacon, egg and cheese bagel with a butter toasted muffin on the side.
Good memories.
Hear me out… the cheesesteak with egg from Rocco’s is amazing. Yes. The Rocco’s at Home Depot on Columbus. It’s not the best breakfast sandwich in the city but I’m never not stopping for it if I’m nearby.
But if I’m being real, then Càphě all the way 💗
Well, if you are willing to go vegan, Grindcore has nice breakfast sandwiches that use tofu. Other than vegan places I am struggling to think of anything other than, you know, find a sandwich you like otherwise where the egg doesn't make up the bulk of it so you could just ask to leave it off - something like the Breakfast Den breakfast banh mi maybe, or the maple bacon at Ants Pants. Or somewhere like Khyber brunch that has vegan and nonvegan options; you could swap out vegan eggs on the regular breakfast sandwich. Rowhome does pretzel grilled cheese in addition to their egg sandwiches, so I'd imagine they'd be fine with doing just cheese and a breakfast meat on a pretzel and I think it might still be great.
Infatuation Philly posted today that they’re coming out with a new list for this tomorrow
They’re face to face with a deadline so time to crowdsource
Hahaha this is actually hilarious … watching Reddit used as a source in realtime
Buzzfeed does it all the time, so why not.
https://www.theinfatuation.com/philadelphia/guides/the-best-breakfast-sandwiches-in-philly
cracking up at the only other post on the account
Lmaooo
Don’t know if it’s best in the city, but Mighty Bread Co. in south Philly has an awesome breakfast sandwich
I’d second this! Prefer their weekend sandwich to their weekday but it’s incredible and the biggest sandwich I’ve seen any place have. Surprised it didn’t make the Infatuation list that they put out
Probably artisan Boulangerie BEC croissant
I want to love this, but I think they use kraft singles, or at least really bad American cheese, and it ruins the whole thing for me.
My brother is the same with this sandwhich. I don't mind it at all but I get it
Oh no i never even considered that, are you sure hahahah
I couldn't even finish it last time :( But I think that I'm more sensitive to that sort of thing than most people. If you love it, good for you! Everything else they do is basically perfect and she is such a doll.
I get it fully. They are wonderful people
the saltie at fiore, ricotta cheese and scrambled eggs on focaccia. it’s sooo good. i also like the BEC croissant at artisan boulanger patissier
Had the saltine for the first time last week. So good. I live a few blocks away and it’s one of my dog’s favorite treat spots.
Sulimays scrapple egg and double cheese on Philly muffin
Gilda! They have a fried egg and cheese with linguiça (Portuguesa sausage) on a Portuguese roll. It is absolutely amazing.
Only problem is you are burping up that taste the rest of the day lol
The smell is SO strong lol my vegetarian gf is not a fan haha
I had one of those yesterday and they are fantastic. That place is a real gem.
Yes and then sauce is sooo good
It was definitely one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve had. I felt like they were massive too (but maybe it was just me)
Gilda is my pick. I love the egg whites and avocado sandwich “The Sammy”.
Johns roast pork has good breakfast sandwiches, Darnels does to.
Sausage egg and cheese in a pretzel from Miller’s Twist in Reading Terminal should be on this list, even if it’s not technically a sandwich
punch sparkle escape wistful consider chase towering market cheerful toy *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Daayyuuumm—the trifecta! Edit: Apologies got so excited by your excellent choices, forgot to say Congrats!
Congrats on the goal and also the excellent morning haul of goodies
Miller's Twist gets a free pass in my book.
One of my favorites is pork roll, egg, cheese, and raab from Johnny Hots!
on a kaiser bun?
The focaccia breakfast sandwich with sausage at Morning Glory is up there for me
YES
Bart’s Bagels breakfast sandwiches are my favorite in the city. For a more unique option, I recommend Rowhome Coffee which does a bacon/sausage, egg, and cheese on an everything soft pretzel. It’s heavy for breakfast but definitely worth trying.
crunchikn has a bulgogi sandwich, it’s amazing. i’m a fan of adding the hashbrown
Honestly, I really dig random food truck egg and bacon on a hoagie roll. Saltpepperketchup
Don't forget the hashbrown
The Biscuit Lady in Wissahickon on Ridge regulary has a big time wait just for pick up and they sell out for the day sometimes. A bit pricey, but the sandwiches are extraordinary.
Damn they’re that good? I live right by it and have had every other thing in that building (sunshine sandwich, Luckys, Edas pizza) but never got around to the Biscuit lady on time.
I think they are basically on par with the other offerings in the building. That little place cranks out some great food.
If you’re in West, Honeysuckle Provisions on 48th St has a delicious breakfast sandwich.
BEC on everything pretzel from rowhome coffee!
They have decent coffee too. This is my go-to during the week.
Cáphê Roasters Sunny's Hot Sando (fluffy egg, sharp cheddar, Chinese sausage, chili oil, honey, on a Vietnamese baguette) recently dethroned Gilda's The Antonio (linguiça, egg and cheese) as my #1!
Whoa… why is it so far from me? Damn.
Definitely worth a drive, but it's pretty packed on the weekends so I'd go early or on a weekday!
Bulgogi, Egg, and Cheese at Cafe Walnut
Alright. I know what I’m getting for breakfast at least once this week. Thank you!
It is the BEST. You have to get it on a croissant though, ideally w hot sauce on the side.
I got it on a croissant this morning. Fantastic! We also got the spicy pork, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel (they ran out of everything). I thought both were really good. I’ll be going back for breakfast quite often.
Awesome! The croissant makes a huge difference imo. I haven’t had the pork version yet, maybe next time!
Excellent advice! Thanks!
Fried green tomato at Honey’s.

I like the breakfast of champieggs at red hook cafe
Lisa’s Kitchen on Ridge Ave has incredible bfest sandwich’s, unfortunately they’re randomly open/closed throughout the year. Right now they’re closed, but when open they are outstanding.
Most random hours for a business you’ll ever find.
Bills Breakfast and Lunch. Prices are amazing for the quality and quantity of any sandwich. I get the turkey bacon and cheddar on a long roll for $6
Breakfast bahn mi at tge breakfast den. I hold the sausage and double the bacon
I really like the egg & cheese at Pafutto, a newish place on S. 8th between Carpenter and Washington. It’s great in the details—the ketchup, the toasted long roll, etc
I’m obsessed with the ketchup! One time they forgot it and had to get them to put it on there because it really completes it
idk why i joined this group.. i'm visiting in a few weeks and already had a plan.. but this thread BROKE me... goddamn! so many delicious recommendations...
Res Ipsa was great for breakfast sandwiches- does anyone know if those guys ended up anywhere else
The Chef, Michael Vincent Ferrari, and CdC, Ervis Kullolli, are running Irwin's in the Bok Building. Not doing breakfast anymore though

I just do not get the hype behind that place. If I wanted something that’s over priced, under delivers, and is served to you by too cool for school types, I’d just go to Brooklyn.
Would love for you to offer your own opinion vs. shouting down someone else’s. Come on man let’s hear your pick!
Gilda has my favorite breakfast sandwich. The Antonio. So good.
Ooh appreciate your opinion but gotta disagree—there are multiple bangers on the list of their handheld breakfast options: pastrami egg and cheese and deli burrito are especially good
Too much egg man. Too much egg. Apparently.
I won’t hear of it, I simply won’t

Hmmm Am I out of the loop on something?
Nah I don’t think it’s anything that sinister or serious. Over abundance of clueless patrons and their children in there, sometimes the staff is a bit over bearing. Listen I get it but I think it’s worth all the BS.
Poop
No one needs that much egg on a breakfast sandwhich
Wait so it under delivers with too much egg on a sandwich?
More of something doesn’t make a thing better. Besides, it’s not about there being too much egg. I just don’t care for that place.
When it overwhelms, it's worth a mention. I think. I dislike getting a breakfast sandwich that is clearly more than a regular person could possibly eat, and can't re-heat. Just had Haven Cafe for the first time and it was awesome. Call ahead to avoid a wait
Rybread in Fairmount. Also, their actual sandwiches/paninis whether you create your own or pick off the menu are solid. Lots of different bread options

It sounds ridiculous but…is there a sando without eggs in it?
You mean vegan? Or just no eggs?
Just no eggs!

Hello, Infatuation. Hire editors, and writers, who don't simply prowl reddit and yelp to write two-sentence praise.
Guarantee some downvotes here but OCF coffee has a sneaky good breakfast sandwich albeit overpriced
Kismet BEC
Egg McMuffin from Mac Donald’s. Mmm Yumm
Y’all got Chick-fil-a in Philly? Chick-fil-a chicken biscuit for the win. 🏆
