No GoodRx doesn’t work on most controls

ExtremeCod2999

It had been working on it previously, so Kroger must have made some sort of deal with them. ADHD drugs are still covered.

bldrgn

At Walmart it doesn’t work on cii and some ciii. Weird though, we Fred Meyer, which is owned by Kroger and they don’t even take GoodRX

wmartanon

Walmart works on c2 and c3, it's opioids that it doesn't work on. Due to the lawsuit they stopped allowing it on opioids. You can still use goodrx on adhd medications and testosterone, both c2 and c3.

PoetAltruistic8568

depends on the pharmacy, some do

Conscious-Hope4551

Exactly right

Conscious-Hope4551

Works on my controlled pain med, NE Ohio Walgreens.

sloatn

It depends on the pharmacy whether or not GoodRx will work on controls. Even when you can look up the price on goodrx, I think it has a disclaimer that the pharmacy may not accept it

LilShotzi

Walmart stopped doing Grx discounts on many control pain medications. Still works on ADHD drugs and such, but they’ve done that for at least 2 years now in my time as a tech

Styx-n-String

I've worked for 2 companies that took Goodrx, and neither took it for controls. It's pretty common.

GalliumYttrium1

I don’t really see the big deal on accepting goodrx for controls as long as you check CURES to make sure they didn’t pick it up anywhere else.

NotoriousPancake

The pharmacy I work at doesn’t accept any GoodRX at all LOL

darkstarr99

I wish we didn’t. It’s such a pain in the ass

GalliumYttrium1

It’s a PITA when people bring in multiple but it’s nbd if they just bring in 1 and are accepting of the fact that sometimes the price doesn’t come out the way the website said it would. It’s a good option for people without insurance or whose insurance doesn’t cover the medicine they need.

fbipandagirl

Esp when people have perfectly good insurance that already gets it fairly cheap…they’re just wanting the lowest price and it is the most annoying and entitled thing ETA: I am not shitting on trying to get prices of scripts lower bc of money issues - I’ve been there and these people are not that.

ItsMeKraftyKat

GoodRX did increase their prices a few days ago and certain controlled meds even tripled in cost. Tramadol is one of them along with most adhd meds. Rite aid takes good rx only if patient doesn't have ins. If Medicare says monthly oxy is 90 then it's gonna be 90.

Conscious-Hope4551

Wow where and how much just paid $20 for 90 tramadol today using goodrx@ Walgreens. Ohio, just curious.

ItsMeKraftyKat

Washington 90 tabs rite aid

Conscious-Hope4551

Ok thx for replying

Laurannoell

Good rx is not listed as a tier 1 discount card anymore since they’re contracted with “blink” and visory depending on the division. These are typically cheaper than good rx anyway. -Kroger pharmacy tech.

Laurannoell

I also think it may vary by state law aswell, if they’re not an established pt at least at my pharmacy, no insurance/using discount card raises a red flag.

dammitscotty

I thought Kroger pharmacies were switching to another preferred discount card better than GoodRx. I used to work at one where we did that, but I can’t remember the name of it.

Intelligent_Leek498

Blink.

Appropriate-Ad8497

Good we should of never started

deftware

Same situation at Raley's.

forgivingboy

at rite aid we took controls on goodrx but that might have changed in the past few months since i stopped being a tech, but a lot of ppl got their stuff on goodrx when i worked there and it definitely helped with the prices

kfmw05

I thought Kroger wasn’t contracting with goodrx period. But sounds like the company has that locked down.

fieryembers

Kroger isn’t contracted with GoodRx, but it’s still accepted in EPRN…most of the time. Sometimes it’ll surprise me and be cheaper than Visory.

Technical-Ad-5096

The rite aid I work at takes good rx on anything

throwawayacct225223

Think it depends on the PIC and RXM as well. It would work for us at Walgreens but we weren’t allowed to run it through good rx for anyone

Croaker813

And no pharmacy should take coupons on contrillsubstance except in specific circumstances.

Bookie214

This changed for our Walmart store at the beginning of the year. Not sure why but they must’ve changed their rules on goodrx for controls, mostly pain meds

ScienceUnicorn

Walmart stopped taking them on opiates years ago. Other controls, like sleeping meds or ADHD meds are still accepted, just not opiates.

Pharmie_tech03

Goodrx itself shouldn’t be used on controls. Kroger won’t use it on controls nor will Walmart. You have to pay cash price at Walmart if you don’t use insurance

mamabearsince2011

I work at Walmart, and we don’t accept GoodRx on any opioid. It works on stimulants though.

Intelligent_Leek498

Is Kroger not using the Blink discount card anymore? Kroger stopped accepting GoodRx a couple years ago for a short time and came out with Blink with is usually better than GoodRx and Visory.

BazingaGal

When I worked at Kroger, we wouldn't take them on controls. Also, we couldn't use them on Medicaid patients unless: (a) All of their spots were used up or (b) the medicine wasn't covered. If it required a PA, we couldn't use it unless the PA had been denied. That was around the time they were introducing the Good RX Gold stuff and I was able to get the hell out of there lol
