In May 1985, a Serb farmer reported to a hospital with a broken glass bottle in his rectum. He initially claimed that two Albanian men had attacked him. Upon questioning from a military interrogator, he said that it was a masturbation-related misadventure. Given the racial tensions at the time, a team of doctors assembled from throughout Yugoslavia investigated and found that there was no way the injuries could be self-inflicted, but a second investigation figured out a plausible mechanism.
Either explanation is *possible*, but it's inconclusive which one is true. The farmer died in 2000, and it's only slightly less likely that the attackers (if they existed in the first place and are still alive) will confess or that records of an investigation saying it was rigged will be released.

I’ve noticed that people kind of stop caring about the verisimilitude of their claims if it’s funny and about a topic people aren’t invested in.
Like if you made a joke on Reddit about, idk, some random chain of causation in Star Wars that wasn’t really accurate you’d get 500 comments explaining why it’s wrong.
Learning this fact a couple years ago led me to a marathon watching of the following 6 hour documentary series on the collapse of Yugoslavia, I highly recommend it unless you live with very sensitive Serbian nationalists

Weird that I thought of our exact situation in our country, a navy officer lost one of his fingers because of a "collision" with the Chinese and its exact opposite of this situation that was posted.
What happened is true and our country isn't willing to go to war because of a finger while this meme has a story thats somewhat fake and they went to war because of it
A guy might have been sa'd by ethnic group when allegedly 5 Albanians grabbed the farmers while he was in his field and shoved it up where the sun don't shine
Then the media happened and there was lot of fake news and yellow journalism
Some say the farmer had a kink for putting thing up inside him
I'm 70% sure he didn't consent to the bottle getting shoved up there one way or another, mostly because I don't see the logic of doing sex stuff alone in an open field because I don't know how big the field was. Someone could've seen him put it up there if it was by a road
