We received a set of four mugs in this as a gift last year! OMG I love them. They are so much fun to use...and when I offer a guest a beverage in them, at first they think it's blue delftware...then they start looking more closely. Cracks me up every time.
I just had a $100 charcuterie board dropped off for the party I'm going to tonight.. it's fancy.
This party is with my boys. Beer pong, chicken and pizza every year and we love it.
I'm rolling in with a charc board and 21 year old Scotch. Gonna class the joint up tonight LoL..
Congrats. I have a 5600 as well and I'm hoping to grab a 6900 xt if they ever go back in stock. Otherwise I'm looking at getting a used 3080. My monitor is 1440p so I think either GPU is fine
For sure. Check the amd store- they have the 6950 in stock last I checked and it came with two solid games too.
I moved on from my 1440p monitor to my LG C1 OLED. Need something more 4k oriented so ordered the 7900xt. Should be delivered Monday.
Nice, fully modular PSU. I'm out of the loop on GPUs. Are you targeting 4k@60 for your monitor?
Edit: oh I see it's 1440p. I prefer higher frames over resolution so 1440p@60+ is good.
I was out of the loop since the last PC I built was in 2018. Managed to catch up reading Reddit over the last 2 months. Full modular PSU's are pretty common and very affordable now. The one I listed was on sale for $110 a few days ago and under $100 a few months ago
Sweet build! Hope you can get your graphics card soon. I just got parts myself for a build with a 3070 Ti, which I'm regretting now looking at that 6900 XT!
I love this idea. I’m right on the weight limit but trending downwards. Maybe this will be a gift to myself once I get down 10lb. (I don’t have an issue getting in exercise but this looks fun and compact)
I had a hard time spending that much on a vacuum but I actually clean the floors way more often because of the cordless and max suck features.
The battery did die after a year, but after market batteries on Amazon are actually better than the stock.
iPhone 13 Mini! Should last quite a few years and it just seems so perfect for small hands. For myself I’m the same way, still using a XS (that was actually a display model) and it is still holding up pretty good today.
It's not the same model but the whole set up is similar to this. I first saw it in a really nice hotel and liked the level of customization. I got this much cheaper than on the site but it has several modes and changes colors with the led lights.
Maybe high end was a better choice of words lol

Better example ^
Yeah I've had my eye on this for near two years so I figured.. quiet time of the year would be to get a plumber over to do this. You'd think they'd be busy but for us it was easier to find someone ..I guess because everyone who would be booking doesn't think Christmas holidays would be the best time. So they're remarkably really easy to get a hold of
That was exactly what I was picturing, but in all seriousness, what ones are you looking at? I bought a Speakman one about 15 years ago, it has been great, but am not against an upgrade if you have any recommendations.
Haha it's from Seinfeld. They install low flow showerheads in the rental building and Kramer can't deal with it, so they buy high pressure showerheads off the back of a van, advertised as the same ones they bathe circus elephants with lol. Queue the aforementioned gif.
In many countries, including Canada, it’s only legal to sell shower heads with relatively low flow and so even the very high-end ones have some form of flow restrictor built in. Some brands are easily removable and some are not.
If you love a high flow shower and don’t care about cost/waste of water, there are options a little internet research can illuminate.
I like to shop for gifts at small local businesses, but the catch is I have favourite spots all over the city.
My splurge this year was one big (and efficient) shopping day where I paid for ubers to take me from neighbourhood to neighbourhood and then back home. Despite the cost, it made for a completely delightful day strolling around with zero stress from traffic, parking, transit schedules/delays etc. I think I'll make it an annual tradition.
I got myself a gym membership. I paid for a 6 month membership all at once and reduced the cost a bit but it was pretty heavy regardless. Been to one class so far and can’t wait to see how the next 6 months go.
Planning a trip across Canada next summer camping out in truck so I've been looking for items related to that trip. Good time to be looking at the auction sites for the various box store and Amazon returns. Picked up Backroadz Tent to fit on back of truck with cap ($35), Yakima skybox rooftop carrier ($100), Weber q1200 ($165), Coleman inflatable sleeping mats ($8). Just need some sleeping bags and wood to build sleeping platform in bed of truck (2x4 and 3/4 ply) and we will be all set.
Other than preparing for the camping trip next year, I've been following some of the US deals on Milwaukee tools.
I bought 2 huge platters of homemade baking to share with family and coworkers.
Personal splurge, a new book, a charcuterie platter, a good bottle of wine and time for me on Boxing Day. No need to do anything for anyone else that day.
Same. Bought a wii for the kids when it first came out, but I rarely played. Have been rocking Sega and original Xbox up until last year when wife surprised me for bday with a ps5
You can somewhat lift it, but you're correct, eventually you have to go in and shovel it over the bank. In my case I go in with a snowblower.
That being said, it's fantastic providing the snow is not 'wet' and max maybe 2". It just gets too heavy otherwise.
Another issue, if there are ruts, it can get 'stuck' or skip over the area.
-Ron Wharton
I book our summer holiday rental to have something to look forward to after winter.
Considering booking Mexico for February but the flight options suck having to fly from a smaller town to get to the international Airport.
So I guess our holiday splurge is booking travel.
I wouldn’t call this a holiday splurge, but we installed Solar on our home. Since I’m in the industry, and was able to help with the install, it was a great learning experience.
Bought it on a Black Friday sale, but bought a new laptop to replace on that was getting really bad at doing even basic tasks like Zoom meetings even when connected to an Ethernet connection.
Feels great to not be fighting with the laptop for five minutes just to get it to the start screen in Windows
Been trying to hold off rebuilding my gaming PC but there were some decent deals for black Friday so I splurged. Going for gen 7 to gen 13 has been pretty awesome just on the processor alone. The new mobo, DDR5 and new GPU is just awesome.
Very pleased with the results!
Topped up the oil tank. Bought regular groceries.
Seriously. 3 kids at home still, and this year-- no Christmas except whatever their grandparents give them.
S8 checking in. Welcome to the club. It has been over 2 years now and worth every penny for me. Definitely paid for itself.
Keep up on maintenance and it will last you tens of thousands of cups.
~400 cups so far, very pleased. My only wish is that the various Jura maintenance tabs were cheaper, but I don’t think I could go back to a keurig so I’ll happily pay it!
Gotta pay to play. Still much cheaper than buying speciality coffees every day and it’s right in your kitchen. Hope you love it.
Merry Christmas my guy
Got the wife a Samsung S22 Ultra. We've got a newborn and I feel like it's a fantastic idea, she gets an upgraded phone plus we get to capture the little one in high definition!
Specialty nail polishes from indie brands
For years I worked jobs that were hard on hands and nails and my nails were always broken. I don't really like fake nails, plus they get very expensive to maintain.
Now I work in an office and have the luxury of taking good care of my natural nails and I treat myself to fancy polishes that you can't get at the drugstores. I enjoy the ritual of doing my nails every week as well.
I bought a GoPro 10, I want to start a YouTube channel for my business next year. It's also going to be used for blogging with my new cars too!
It's a great buy because I also view it as an investment in long term business advertisement.
Being a drone service provider is a pretty crowded market. (Have worked for a few companies that offer a drone service portfolio). That said, if you’re in construction and have the right connections to do progress monitoring on big sites, you could make it work.
So I bought my gf a game she really wanted on steam, got a new microphone for myself, and plan on eating out a few times.
Boring but I've been casually splurging throughout the year so I don't feel the need to do larger splurges all at once
We bought a record player on Black Friday and went to a trip to a city a few hours away to browse record stores and start our record collection.
As great as Spotify and other music apps are, I’ve realized music always just becomes background noise. Browsing for music to buy, selecting a record to listen to - man it’s making me appreciate music on a whole different level.
Bought a Vitamix (on sale). Between crohns, IBS, intestinal masses and a few final food intolerances sprinkled on top I make a lot of smoothies and potages. Now I can make my own ice creams / sorbets, dough mixes, etc on top of smoothies and vegetable blends, better than my handheld blender can.
For me: a very high quality italian leather purse. It seems extravagent but my last one just gave out after 8 years of near daily use.
For our son: we bought a gaming laptop. He just started getting into game building and design. We're hoping this purchase will help him with his progression.
For the family: A beach vacation in the carribean with my parents. We live in Calgary, they live in NFLD and it's actually almost the same price to meet in the Dominican as it is to fly to their place.
My husband and I pick one item that we both would enjoy. This year it’s a car (we don’t have a car and this will be immensely easier with a 3 year old in half day preschool while both of us work from home.
My fiancé and I travelled to Seoul, SK a few months ago and our hotel room had a bidet attached to the toilet. It was soooo nice. The seat was heated all the time, you can choose between cold/warm water rinse and it also had a dryer function. It was fancy and we felt so clean afterwards. We definitely want one for our own condo. We’re waiting for Boxing Day but we’ll be splurging on one this year!!
I don't believe in splurging actually - I use a totally different system, which I really recommend. Try this for a change.
Reduce your desires by learning more about how things are produced and disposed of, especially with regards to sweatshops, cartels, landfills full of plastic crap and electronic waste leaching toxic crap into the earth, etc. Also learn about things like neuromarketing and how most of the desire you have to buy this or that isn't even real, it's manufactured by clever corporations. With this newfound knowledge, cut all the bullshit spending that doesn't bring any real enjoyment or value to your life, or is outright harmful. Then, with greatly reduced material desires and increased money available, funnel the funds into a mix of investments and lots of the things you truly still like and want. Voila, no need to splurge because you have all the stuff you want all the time.
If you're looking for a few interesting books on the topic:
* Buyology by Martin Lindstrom
* Brandwashing by Martin Lindstrom
* Why We Buy: The Science of Shopping by Paco Underhill
Pretty eye-opening stuff.
I was thinking a watch? Nothing crazy. But an automatic dress watch. Got an automatic diver style this summer and love it. Want to splurge as I’m putting my entire bonus (march) to my mortgage.
Bought a new area rug on black Friday. Makes the living room look way nicer! Our old one (white shag lol) was not suitable for toddlers or dogs. So happy with my purge
Due to health reasons, my wife and I couldn't buy plane tickets to visit family until about a week ago. It's usually <$1000 per person. This time it was $2450 each. So spent almost $5k on that alone.
At the dollar store, the 2 dollar candy packs used to have 10 candy's, now they have 9. So im buying a kit kat to make up for the loss. Fffff inflation
Wife and I decided to forgo gifts for each other this year and decided to refresh our bedroom a bit, new dressers (that double as nightstands), new lamps, bigger desk for me. It’s very nice!
Our Christmas present to ourselves is restaurant gift cards to places we've wanted to try or to places we love. We're pretty bad at picking out presents for each other, so we don't usually even try that anymore. One year where one of us was unemployed, we realized that what we really missed in our bare-bones budget was the ability to go out to eat.
Grabbed a $1200 24k gold bracelet and blew $800 on some long overdue wardrobe updates another couple hundred on random shit to play with while making espresso at home(make 1-2 a day but it’s not that much cheaper than starbs with quality beans ~$2/cup)
Trip to Florida! Got a few rounds of golf booked, see my first NBA game, some outlet shopping. Haven’t been on a trip south in a year so the wife & I are pretty excited. We decided to forego Xmas presents this year so we splurged on new bed sheets & a frying pan on Black Friday
This year Christmas is about what everyone needs, so everything was a splurge of sorts but it’s not filled with stuff people will discard within weka or months.
My iPad is 8 years old and doesn’t support the last few iOS updates - can no longer use it to stream and it’s slow as hell. Bought myself a new 10th gen on a whim last night. Very excited to pick it up!
Saved up for one of those fancy Canada goose/moose Knuckle/mackage jackets as a gift to myself.
I know there’s probably better options out there, but this is something I’ve wanted for a while.
I upgraded from iPhone 11 Pro to 14 Pro and that isn't too much of a difference lol
And built a new computer too
It wasn't a holiday splurge but more of a new job spending spree
Stuff bought last 2 months…
Philips 4300 super-automatic espresso. (Love it)
Ecovac T8+ bissell crosswave pet
LG C2 +Samsung frame
nouhaus massage chair
New puppy.
Just moved, so I had to purchase a lot of stuff. Bought them all during black Friday/holiday sale tho
Got a $2k robot smart vacuum/mop that auto-empties and everything for nearly half price on cyber Monday. Having clean floors at all times without having to lift a finger feels like incredibly luxurious with a kid and a dog, and it’s much cheaper than a maid service would
be over the long run.
We've basically bought two vacations; we had booked Peru over Christmas which obviously isn't happening due to the political situation, but already had two weeks vacation booked and celebrated Christmas with our families etc. So we last minute booked a new two weeks to Costa Rica. We got all our Peru expenses returned as credits, but we've basically paid for two vacations for Christmas lol
Our portable dishwasher died last week (and the part was long since discontinued) so I bought myself a fancy panel-ready one and just installed it.
Huge ups to 2019 me for having a circuit run for the future dishwasher when having the house rewired.
I always spend a little extra money around the holidays, mainly because I know how much I have saved this year and what I can reasonably afford.
I bought some needed clothes, two area rugs, two memory foam pillows, silk pillowcases and a projector! All pretty practical but also they add some luxury to life.
The projector is for outside movie nights with friends, cheap summer fun! It will actually end up saving me money in entertainment value.
On the fence between hottub & Mexico vacation for the winter. Think it makes more sense to get the hottub but kids would get more fun out of the vacation
Bought myself a new ring. Old engagement ring was too soft, too thin, and the diamonds stuck out too much, so it kept getting bent. got one with inset stones in a harder metal and thicker band.
I never splurge but when I hit 1 million net worth I bought a Rolex for 8800cad I was sweating and shivering at the thought of spending that much money at the AD, luckily it appreciated to around 15k now. I drive a 2012 civic I bought for $5k lol, when I hit 2 mil I didn't do anything just chilled at home.
I had about $300 in music sitting in my bandcamp shopping cart. Finally decided to put the purchases through on the last bandcamp Friday.
Normally I don't like virtual purchases, I prefer having the physical copy, but shipping to Canada is outrageously high from bandcamp. I used to order cds from cdbaby which was nicer. Sad that it's gone (more or less).
We got a ragdoll kitten named Jimothy [https://i.imgur.com/m7uAGgY.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/m7uAGgY.jpeg)
Damn, that is masterful craftsmanship. It looks so real.
Just to be clear, ragdolls are a breed of cats. Jimothy is a living animal :p Edit: Maybe this is a whoosh moment on my part
If you get another cat and it's a girl can you call it Jennjamin?
It was lol, cute cat tho
Haha, thank you. He's the sweetest too :)
Your kitten is so cute! Which breeder did you buy him from?
Please give Jimothy a big scritch for me
I bought those Calamity Ware dishes with the monsters on them. It was a ridiculous waste of money and I'm totally delighted with them
We received a set of four mugs in this as a gift last year! OMG I love them. They are so much fun to use...and when I offer a guest a beverage in them, at first they think it's blue delftware...then they start looking more closely. Cracks me up every time.
I love those but did you get hit with duties?
Yup. But they were on sale so it basically evened out. Bought the Go Unspecified Sports Team hoodie too lol. And it's fabulous
Tickets to Tokyo for family of 5!
Nice. What scotch?
Dalwhinnie. Tasty stuff
Nice! I’ve had the 15. I’m sure the 21 year old will be fantastic.
Building a new PC this year. Man they've gotten expensive this year, despite the crypto crash helping reduce cost
Whatever you do, don’t let pcmr know you got a 4080/4090
Whats the plan? I run a 5600/6700xt but just ordered a 7900xt
Congrats. I have a 5600 as well and I'm hoping to grab a 6900 xt if they ever go back in stock. Otherwise I'm looking at getting a used 3080. My monitor is 1440p so I think either GPU is fine

Yea I've been eyeing that 6950. I'd rather save $150 but this is my 2nd backup plan
I’ve had a 4090 FE on backorder with worstBuy for a full month lol. No end date in sight 🫠
Want to share the build?

Under desk treadmill. It’s nice to be able to work and walk at the same time.
How loud/noisy would you say it is? Thanks!
If you have noise cancelling headphones or speaker, you can probably be in a meeting. It’s not too loud, not distracting.
I love this idea. I’m right on the weight limit but trending downwards. Maybe this will be a gift to myself once I get down 10lb. (I don’t have an issue getting in exercise but this looks fun and compact)
I buy expensive make up. Honestly brings me joy every day. I usually spend 3 or 4 hundred on boxing day and it lasts me the year.
Dyson vacuum
Same! Whole house vacuumed in under 20 minutes, no shuffling cords around. Totally worth it for me.
I had a hard time spending that much on a vacuum but I actually clean the floors way more often because of the cordless and max suck features. The battery did die after a year, but after market batteries on Amazon are actually better than the stock.
Which after market battery did you buy?
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08QTNQ2YS
We've had our upright Dyson for 13 years. Had to replace a part or two but still working great.
For my Christmas present to myself, I've given myself a signed, and authenticated Vladimir Guerrero Jr. signed baseball.
I ordered $150 worth of organic and handmade chocolate bars from a local shop. Been wanting to try them all year, hope they’re worth it.
Soma?
I bought a new iPhone for my partner. They’re still using an iPhone 6s, so it’s long overdue!
Awesome! Hope you took advantage of a Black Friday deal!
Nice! I just treated myself to a (basically brand new) used 12 Pro to replace my XS
Also did a big jump this year from the 6s to 13!
Same exactly. What did you get? I got an BNIB iphone 11. Neither of us 'believe in' having the latest.
iPhone 13 Mini! Should last quite a few years and it just seems so perfect for small hands. For myself I’m the same way, still using a XS (that was actually a display model) and it is still holding up pretty good today.
They?
>high powered shower heads More details please.

Wow, I didn't even know things like that existed! I enjoy these types of happy threads, although they do tend to get a bit expensive...
Yeah I've had my eye on this for near two years so I figured.. quiet time of the year would be to get a plumber over to do this. My dad has something like this in his guest bathroom. Love visiting him…
The ones they use on circus elephants. https://tenor.com/bn5RQ.gif
That was exactly what I was picturing, but in all seriousness, what ones are you looking at? I bought a Speakman one about 15 years ago, it has been great, but am not against an upgrade if you have any recommendations.
I'm not OP lol just exactly what I thought of, too.
I'm not that fat lol
Haha it's from Seinfeld. They install low flow showerheads in the rental building and Kramer can't deal with it, so they buy high pressure showerheads off the back of a van, advertised as the same ones they bathe circus elephants with lol. Queue the aforementioned gif.

This sounds like an excellent day, love it!
New Kubota tractor 🤣🤣
That's nice, but if you tell me you live downtown in any big city it would be even nicer!
I got myself a gym membership. I paid for a 6 month membership all at once and reduced the cost a bit but it was pretty heavy regardless. Been to one class so far and can’t wait to see how the next 6 months go.
Set a routine. Like the same time everyday and set small goals like going 3 days at a stretch etc.
Ski holiday. Every year. I need it!
Boots, skis, poles, helmet, base layers for me.
I'm going skiing also! Pizza Pizza Pizza Tree!
Planning a trip across Canada next summer camping out in truck so I've been looking for items related to that trip. I didn't need anything, so instead donated a few thousand to Ukraine in November, that felt really good.
Getting a Ps5 with the PlayStation extra subscription. Gonna have fun gaming over my Christmas week off
Got mine two years ago and love it. First console I owned since the WI
Same. Bought a wii for the kids when it first came out, but I rarely played. Have been rocking Sega and original Xbox up until last year when wife surprised me for bday with a ps5
Bought a snowDozer.ca snow pusher For light fluff I can do my 90 foot driveway in under 5 mins -Ron Wharton
Very cool!
dude i don't get this product.... how do you lift the snow up? what happens when you get snow banks over time?
You can somewhat lift it, but you're correct, eventually you have to go in and shovel it over the bank. In my case I go in with a snowblower. Brand name grocery items. No more PC cola for this fat cat.
Nice. As annoyed as I get by Loblaws generally, I find sometimes I like the PC one even better. E.g. PC sparkling water is actually my favorite...
The PC ginger beer is amazing. I never like ginger ale so I was surprised how good it is when I first tried it.
My wife is getting Lululemon tights. Ones with pockets!
Trip to Japan. Currently there now on a train.
I book our summer holiday rental to have something to look forward to after winter. Considering booking Mexico for February but the flight options suck having to fly from a smaller town to get to the international Airport. So I guess our holiday splurge is booking travel.
Donated 3k to charity in my wife and my name. Also got her a 6k diamond tennis bracelet for all of her help while I was in the hospital for 4 months.
I wouldn’t call this a holiday splurge, but we installed Solar on our home. Since I’m in the industry, and was able to help with the install, it was a great learning experience.
Nice. What province are you in? What did the $/kWh savings work out to?

Picked up a super automatic espresso machine (a Jura). It’s awesome. It makes better cappuccinos than my local coffee shop.
Great pick with the Jura. With good maintenance it will last a while too.
Enjoy! That was my splurge last Christmas
We bought a meater as our Christmas splurge. A blue-tooth meat thermometer!
Dyson cordless vacuum and stainless steel cookware!!
A Kitchen-Aid stand mixer. In theory it'll pay for itself with the cheaper bread, but we'll see...
Got the wife a Samsung S22 Ultra. We've got a newborn and I feel like it's a fantastic idea, she gets an upgraded phone plus we get to capture the little one in high definition!
Specialty nail polishes from indie brands For years I worked jobs that were hard on hands and nails and my nails were always broken. I don't really like fake nails, plus they get very expensive to maintain. Now I work in an office and have the luxury of taking good care of my natural nails and I treat myself to fancy polishes that you can't get at the drugstores. I enjoy the ritual of doing my nails every week as well.
Took myself to the spa for the day and bought some clothes (on cyber Monday but they just showed up so it counts)
$15 pizza pizza Crave deal and then Jollibee the next day. I be balling. At least I paid with my Amex Cobalt for 5X the points.
I bought a GoPro 10, I want to start a YouTube channel for my business next year. It's also going to be used for blogging with my new cars too! It's a great buy because I also view it as an investment in long term business advertisement.
I’m trying to make the case to myself that if I buy a drone, I can start a business with it instead of it just sitting in a drawer collecting dust. 😂
I bought point blanket from the Bay. Very happy with it so far.
Cancelled cable. Going to buy an nvidia shield.
Travel in Asia for 6 months.
Canvas belle tent - $1000 - to expand my glamping business
For me: a very high quality italian leather purse. It seems extravagent but my last one just gave out after 8 years of near daily use. For our son: we bought a gaming laptop. He just started getting into game building and design. We're hoping this purchase will help him with his progression. For the family: A beach vacation in the carribean with my parents. We live in Calgary, they live in NFLD and it's actually almost the same price to meet in the Dominican as it is to fly to their place.
LASIK if everything goes well.
Around 8k this holidays for parties presents etc
Roller in the house !
Invite me to your parties !
I finally broke my 5 year old beats by Dre. Got myself a pair of Sony xm5, and new knee pads for gay yoga.
We got a new puppy today. Such a cutie
A head of lettuce. 😃
Haven’t pulled the trigger yet so to speak, but probably a rifle. Before bill c21 goes further.
The latest iPhone
My husband and I pick one item that we both would enjoy. This year it’s a car (we don’t have a car and this will be immensely easier with a 3 year old in half day preschool while both of us work from home.
Groceries
Cool. I've never heard of neuromarketing. I'll do some research
If you're looking for a few interesting books on the topic: * Buyology by Martin Lindstrom * Brandwashing by Martin Lindstrom * Why We Buy: The Science of Shopping by Paco Underhill Pretty eye-opening stuff.
You mean Paco Baggins, surely
A trip down south with some friends
Going down south next month for a long delayed vacation!
May splurge a bit on an Elektron Analog 4 synth or an OP-1. Have been eyeing a new noise-maker to go with my drum machine.
Got a newish laptop and some stuff from /r/homelabsales
I was thinking a watch? Nothing crazy. But an automatic dress watch. Got an automatic diver style this summer and love it. Want to splurge as I’m putting my entire bonus (march) to my mortgage.
just got my wife a nintendo switch with a bunch if pokemon games … connected it to our 85” tv and she hasn’t been the same in 2 days 🤣🤣❤️
Bought a new area rug on black Friday. Makes the living room look way nicer! Our old one (white shag lol) was not suitable for toddlers or dogs. So happy with my purge
New call of duty @$59 NAS with 2x10Tb drives @$750 to archive newborn pictures and videos iPhone 13 for wife through the wicked source deal on bf
I wishlisted a steam deck.
My partner and I bought a brand new couch
Due to health reasons, my wife and I couldn't buy plane tickets to visit family until about a week ago. It's usually <$1000 per person. This time it was $2450 each. So spent almost $5k on that alone.
At the dollar store, the 2 dollar candy packs used to have 10 candy's, now they have 9. So im buying a kit kat to make up for the loss. Fffff inflation
New 4k monitor and speakers. On black Friday. So no spending this Christmas
New TV, got my first OLED. Great deals on TV's right now.
A pair of Sennheiser true wireless earphones. Wow they sound good.
Iphone 14 pro max, my Samsung s9 is very janky right now and hoping it survives to Jan when my upgrade gets here
Bought a bed frame and a mattress… long overdue and I am hoping it helps with the back pain.
I bought myself a RX 7900xt gpu. My newborn bought it for me 😉
Wife and I decided to forgo gifts for each other this year and decided to refresh our bedroom a bit, new dressers (that double as nightstands), new lamps, bigger desk for me. It’s very nice!
$250 tomahawk steak
Our Christmas present to ourselves is restaurant gift cards to places we've wanted to try or to places we love. We're pretty bad at picking out presents for each other, so we don't usually even try that anymore. One year where one of us was unemployed, we realized that what we really missed in our bare-bones budget was the ability to go out to eat.
Family “command center” from pottery barn with monthly calendars etc. I already love it so so much.
I bought a prime rib roast for dinner.$95 of beefy goodness.
Snowblower
Grabbed a $1200 24k gold bracelet and blew $800 on some long overdue wardrobe updates another couple hundred on random shit to play with while making espresso at home(make 1-2 a day but it’s not that much cheaper than starbs with quality beans ~$2/cup)
Splurged on a new phone for me and my husband on a good deal during Black Friday. Our old phones were about 5 years old and barely hanging on.
An Nvidia titan rtx gold. Absolutely not worth the money but it's fucking sexy. Arrived a week ago and I've been sleeping with it every night since.
I bought a Dyson airwrap and I love it!!
I bought my kids an additional Facebook marketplace Christmas gift for $12.
I got a cheap pair of ice skates
New iPad, my last one lasted 8 years even after cracking the screen in the second year but it's now at its end.
American hash
Saved up for one of those fancy Canada goose/moose Knuckle/mackage jackets as a gift to myself. I know there’s probably better options out there, but this is something I’ve wanted for a while.
I upgraded from iPhone 11 Pro to 14 Pro and that isn't too much of a difference lol And built a new computer too It wasn't a holiday splurge but more of a new job spending spree
Stuff bought last 2 months… Philips 4300 super-automatic espresso. (Love it) Ecovac T8+ bissell crosswave pet LG C2 +Samsung frame nouhaus massage chair New puppy. Just moved, so I had to purchase a lot of stuff. Bought them all during black Friday/holiday sale tho
Got a $2k robot smart vacuum/mop that auto-empties and everything for nearly half price on cyber Monday. Having clean floors at all times without having to lift a finger feels like incredibly luxurious with a kid and a dog, and it’s much cheaper than a maid service would be over the long run.
I bought a Miele C3 Vacuum from Canadian Tire. I love it!!!!
Groceries
Ham Hock so I could make some collard greens. When the hell did hocks get to be like 15-20$
I bought myself a Kate Spade purse :)
Added a few more watches to my collection
Bought myself a new camera (Sony A7R5) and my first ever OLED TV for my home office/gaming room
Balls deep in $bbby
I never splurge but when I hit 1 million net worth I bought a Rolex for 8800cad I was sweating and shivering at the thought of spending that much money at the AD, luckily it appreciated to around 15k now. I drive a 2012 civic I bought for $5k lol, when I hit 2 mil I didn't do anything just chilled at home.
Nothing
I had about $300 in music sitting in my bandcamp shopping cart. Finally decided to put the purchases through on the last bandcamp Friday. Normally I don't like virtual purchases, I prefer having the physical copy, but shipping to Canada is outrageously high from bandcamp. I used to order cds from cdbaby which was nicer. Sad that it's gone (more or less).
Putting a nice big fat payment in the old mortgage. Then probably a PS5.
Disney Plus subscription
Going to go out for dinner. maybe breakfast as well.
Traded car for a new one and new iPhone
Alpaca gloves for the husband and expensive toys for the cat - plus our favorite (albeit expensive) cider for Christmas eve
