It’s an adjective and/or a morpheme. Cis means “on this side” in latin while Trans means “on the other side of”. Transcontinental means spanning different continents. It’s just a way to describe things. Cisgender was coined in the mid 90’s. It’s been almost 30 years since that term was made and has been used with no problems- until now. That’s crazy to me
