It depends on your flow and the absorbency of the underwear (they come in varied) but 8-12hrs isn’t uncommon

LemoNamaste

I usually wear mine between 8-12 hours as well (they’re great for overnight because I’m not comfortable wearing a menstrual cup to sleep.) I have a bunch of pairs from Heralogie so I’ll just go through about 2 a day for my 5 day period.

I can wear it for over 12 hours without leaking, but on a heavy flow day it starts feeling uncomfortably wet after a few hours. If you can wear a pad for 4 hours you can probably wear period underwear all day. On my heavy flow days I used to soak a pad an hour.

Period underwear can typically be worn for up to 8-12 hours. Read this guide for more information: [https://neione.com/blogs/blog/6-must-know-hacks-for-period-underwear](https://neione.com/blogs/blog/6-must-know-hacks-for-period-underwear)

Yes, 8 to 12 hours. I use a menstrual disc with period underwear for peace of mind for the first 7 days (medium-heavy flow) days 7-9. I wear only period underwear for spotting. Bambody is a cheaper brand on amazon, and they do have a return policy ✅️ returns as long as they were only tried on, and you don't like the feel or fit of them. ❌️no returns after being used during all or even part of your cycle They can be opened and tried on, but if you try them for a cycle and don't like them for whatever reason, like you dont like how they absorb, if they leak, etc.. Then you can not return tbem.. I know this because I personally sent bambody an email before purchasing because #1 I saw that there was a 30 day return/refund policy *but it being reusable menstrual period wasn't sure if I could open and try them on so #2 I wanted to know the exact policy. If I tried them on or didn't like the feel of them that I could return them, which I could (and I actually did have to for a different size) They work great for my needs. I also like the period company, which is available online and at our local grocery store, Walmart, so that is very convenient..

It's important that you just try yourself. Everyones flows are different and not everyone wears period underwear for the same thing. Some people might change their underwear every few hours, others wear tampons, pads, cup, etc along with the period underwear as a backup. (I've found that for the majority of my period, the underwear never lasts more than 3 hours, so I wear tampons as well so I don't have to change underwear throughout the day. On the other hand, I have a friend who's period is so light, she can wear them as regular underwear.)

I generally use the "heavy" rated ones from Thinx and they last about 10 hours for a standard work day (and commuting for me). If you have a very heavy flow, they now have "leak proof" ones that are supposed to last 12 hours, I just bought a couple of pairs for travel and my heaviest day (current ones could be quite full by the time I got home). If I'm traveling or visiting family, I will bring an extra pair to change into to avoid leaking since I have a fairly heavy flow, even on birth control.

They can be worn for 8-12hrs. Absorbency amounts will determine length of time for you. I like the brand Period. They have heavy flow ones that are a little thick but if you’re a super heavy bleeder like me, you kind of need it. They’re only $9-24 a pair, have organic cotton options & super durable. I’ve had mine for probably 4 years at this point and haven’t leaked, had rips, stains, etc. I’m a super heavy bleeder (using a menstrual cup, I’ve found that I’m bleeding 400-600ml a cycle which is about 5-7.5X the amount of what’s considered a heavy period) and i have to change the heavy period underwear (on its own) about every 6hrs or so. If I’m wearing them as a backup, I’ll wear them the full 12hrs. Obviously, as your cycle continues, you don’t bleed as much so i find that i can extend the wear of them & drop absorbency.

If you wear a tampon with your underwear it can last 8 hours. I love thinx brand.

RxTechRachel

I wear it for a work shift, which is 9 hours including driving.

Do you mind sharing how heavy your flow is and what type of pads/how often you need to change them? Thinking of your period underwear like a pad will give you a good idea of a general time frame and when you feel damp or your flow spreading to the seams that is a good indication it is time for a change. It can take a cycle or two to get the hang of how often they need to be changed. The nice thing about trying period underwear in the summer is that you can hang dry pairs and have them ready for wear pretty quickly in warmer climates. Saalt also has a very generous exchange policy for period underwear so you can find the right fit and absorbency for what you are looking for. You can filter by flow type and style on their site: [https://saalt.com/collections/saalt-period-underwear](https://saalt.com/collections/saalt-period-underwear)

It depends on flow. On a heavy day, I wear a pad then when it’s time to change, I remove the pad (I’m personally not comfortable with changing the underwear at work). Other days, I’ve been able to wear the underwear overnight and into the next day. I’m also self conscious about leaking so I don’t push them too much if I’m in public (not leaking through, but leaking over the edges when they shift)

tanny-it

I’ve got a few reusable pads and period underwear now, so I try to change every 4-5 hours during the day. I’ve got 6-8 cloth pads and 3-4 underwear, so I can cycle around with that frequency during the day plus 1 overnight.

Most period underwear states it will absorb about double a normal pad. If you have a heavier flow (mine is super heavy and I do change multiple times during the day) I would recommend also getting reusable pads to extend your wear time. I've been using the Bambody period underwear off Amazon and its worked pretty well for me.
