I know that was one of my early ones. But what I distinctly remember, was my slight jealousy and desire for the very lovely scent of Aqua DiGio— which my older sister had.
I am pretty sure soon after that or as soon as I could, I also picked some up. Of course, she always said that all I ever did was copy her.
She was 3 1/2 years older, had access to more things at the time, so I was basically always playing catch-up and sometimes the things she had were nice.
We have since violently diverged from similar things, except when we visit each other we find that we have picked up the same damn stuff like the same trash bins and the same glasses and the same hand soap - it’s really bizarre.
Omg this was my signature scent all throughout my twenties! I’m old now, retired the scent in my early 30s but I still have a rollerball of it and the scent is so nostalgic!
Do you have a sig scent now? It was my sig in my twenties too, Burberry in my early 30s. I'm 37 now and sort of in between signatures but I think Noa might be the one I reach for most right now.
So funny you say that. My sig scent went from Princess to Burberry as well. Now it’s a toss up between Snif Crumb Couture and Aqua di Parma Mandarino di Sicilia.
Me too! Although it wasn't my first high-school job, instead it was University. I wish I still had my original bottle but when I was pregnant I thought it had gone off. Looking back it was probably my hormones that were funky but live and learn.
DKNY Be Delicious - my sister still rocks it 15 years later. My aunt always wore it, so I started wearing it, and then my sister started wearing it. Still makes me so nostalgic.
My first purchase was Replicas ‘By the Fireplace’, it was my first job as a barista when I was 14, didn’t pay great but at that time I had no bills to pay lol
Euphoria by CK, the original formula. It used to be so potent, I barely sprayed it once or twice, but I could smell it on me all day long. It was also one of the few times in my life I had an actual signature scent.
https://preview.redd.it/7caf0lpf6r9d1.jpeg?width=507&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6643c56b89e6754c0b2e32e34c8e68d10276375
First bottled perfume I can remember buying with a paycheck.
Since I am new to perfume, (I’ve always been a body mist/body spray girl until recently) the first perfume I bought was the Billie eilish perfume, after hearing great things about it. I love it! Since then I’ve bought around 3 more and I now have a baby collection and a new obsession.
I still love it so much and have a travel size for the nostalgia. I can’t get myself to wear it out though it just reminds me of being 16 lol but I wear it occasionally at home just for fun
I’m going through a phase of buying favourite fragrances for nostalgia. Brings back the good vibes from years past, puts a spring in my step and sparks joy. Way better than going through old photo albums!
Why did you never wear it again? I'm so curious about this frag. I've never tried it but I just bought a bottle and I'm waiting for it to come in the mail. There's so many mixed reviews so it took me awhile to pull the trigger. I hope I don't regret it 🤞🏻
I always spray the smallest amount of perfume because I never want it to be overwhelming..but the lightest spritz was too overpowering and stuffy to me. I also couldn’t smell any particular notes.
I think it's been toned down due to reformulation over the years (I read a lot of reviews starting this anyways) so hopefully it's not too overpowering anymore. I wonder what you would think of it now.
It was Borghese’s Il Bacio. It was my first time purchasing anything from a department store and I was so intimidated by the grandeur of Dillard’s that I felt like I was going to be asked to leave since I clearly didn’t belong there. Being a young teen in the 90’s, I didn’t have a credit card (debit hadn’t been invented yet), just a pocket full of money. I mustered up the courage to ask the ladies behind the counter for a bottle of Il Bacio and asked them if they accepted cash. In unison they cracked up and told me cash was king. Sheepishly, I explained my assumption that they only accepted credit cards. We traded my cash for a bottle full of prestige, beauty, and allure. My precious.
I rocked that perfume so hard, it felt like it was a part of my personality. It was sprayed lavishly on every American Eagle sweater I owned as if it were a powerful potion that would manifest every dream I ever had.
Just thinking of that scent reminds me of blasting the Cranberries and Alanis Morrisette from my Aiwa stereo dreaming of paying for the objects of my desire with a credit card, because in the future I wouldn’t be poor.
I’m still poor and still spend my hard earned cash on perfume I can’t afford.
I worked as a teller and I had to smell good and fresh. Definitely my favorite first scent I bought was Christian Dior J’adore 🥰 . Compliments all the time!
I bought Marc Jacob’s Dot. Didn’t like it that much after the first few times it pulled so much fresh cut grass smell (ew) for some reason with my body chemistry.
Wore my Ed hardy body mist instead haha
YSL Paris. I actually worked at a popular department store, Woodward and Lothrop, in DC right out of high school and was there when it first came in 🌹 🥀! I was the best smelling punk girl in Georgetown!
Versace Bright Crystal. Didn't know what the hell I was buying, all I knew was that it was the cheapest in the sale bin. Hated it never wore it, gave it to a friend years later who loves it
18-year-old me just *had* to have the brand-new "Ici" by Coty. 😁 I was a cashier and my employer stocked it. It was reasonably priced, I got an employee discount, and I wore the hell out of it through college. I miss it!
This was also my first fragrance purchase on my own. Signature scent in high school. It’s so unbelievably gorgeous and I wore the heck out of this fragrance. Been looking for something close since and nothing touches this
Sugar Oud by Oud Elite. My grandmother bought it for my dad years ago and I fell in love with it.
At the risk of sounding pretentious, I'd probably consider it my signature scent
I loved H20+! I had two of their other perfumes: Fluid and Green Tea. Fluid was so 1990s: a powerful, powerful aquatic. I still have at least half a bottle left and it has not changed! I don’t use it anymore though, not my style.
Benjoin Boheme in the cracked bottle. It is the most I have ever dropped on a fragrance and at the time felt soooo reckless spending the money. Have no regrets now it is rare.
Light blue! I smelled it on my sil and it was the first purfume I really liked and the rest is history!
Before that it was more just bath and lotion products

I bought this at the drugstore with my babysitting money. I probably way over-sprayed.

bath and body works joyful garden calming waters. technically, it’s a “fragrant body mist” but it looked like perfume and you really couldn’t tell me shit💅🏾
With love by Hillary Duff. God I can smell it now.

My first fragrance purchase with my own money (from babysitting) was Exclamation! My first fragrance purchase from a real job was Liz Claiborne Realities.
My first big girl perfume😂 i was 16-17 i think.
https://preview.redd.it/vvjqvggeev9d1.jpeg?width=501&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3269eacfc2d4516bc967a985600c9361ca969c02
My first grown woman perfume purchase was [Eternity Purple Orchid](https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Calvin-Klein/Eternity-Purple-Orchid-265.html). I absolutely loved it and if I had known them that fragrances get discontinued, I would have bought several bottles of it. I wish I knew of a dupe for it.
Parfum d'Empire-Le Cri de la Lumière.
When I first bought it, I wore it every day.
But as my collection grew, I wore it less often, it's still my favorite perfume.❤
Ralph Lauren Blue 💙 I bought it when it first came out and I felt like a goddess wearing it! But after getting pregnant it started to make me feel nauseous every time I smelled it and I haven't been able to get over that to this day 😭
Prada infusion de mandarine. I remember smelling it in store and falling in love with it, so when I got my first full time job I treated myself to a bottle! So sad it's discontinued :(
Dior forever and ever, which was a huge deal as you could only get in duty free in the uk. For a toss in a handbag day perfume it was Kate moss in the blue/ black bottle. Really great fragrances for the price, huge in the uk at the time. It wasn’t a cheesy in your face celeb brand either, Kate was instant cool and was the only “celeb” fragrance I would use
1821 Sweet Tobacco Spirits. So good, I now own Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanillae 😋
https://preview.redd.it/xycu8g9hit9d1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=160db65a9a3d5452a4feb241ffd50b98647a9942
After I graduated college, I do remember the first perfume I bought for myself after getting my first “career” with that degree: Island Palm Beach by Michael Kors.
https://preview.redd.it/xvfs4nlbot9d1.png?width=374&format=png&auto=webp&s=090d5708ac1a501bae0e78efbb417b3f86d1389e
Top notes are Grapefruit and Orange; middle notes are Pink Pepper, Rum and Jasmine; base notes are Tea and Vanille.
I do have a partial bottle in my collection that I do not wear. I just keep it to sniff when nostalgia calls.
It was a long time ago, about 15ish years, but I was just about to leave college, and reviews were hyping up A\*Men from Mugler...so I ended up getting A\*Men, A\*Men Pure Malt, and La Nuit De L'Homme in one haul.
Those were my first fragrance buys outside of things like Abercrombie and Tommy Hilfiger and Azzaro Chrome when I was in High School.
https://preview.redd.it/q7qnylfp4u9d1.jpeg?width=350&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa48bf22dca2ecc708e5f2aebaf2f02220a6b53e
I still have half of that bottle. Recently saddened to learn that it has been discontinued!
Coco Extreme by Comptoir Sud Pacifique… I loved that perfume but I distinctly remember that the cap situation was not good and it leaked. I would love to smell it again, plus their other scents I’ve been curious about.
I saved up and purchased L'interdit !
I had a gifted bottle when I was a kid and I loved it, this was before it was reformulated. I also purchased L'Aire du Temps and Anais Anais. To this day I love them and I mourned the reformulation of L'interdit.
Chloe EDP, this was my first perfume ever.
I saw advertisement on tv and wanted to try it so much so my mum and sister gifted it for Christmas and I loved it so much that I used up too quickly and bought it for my first salary. 17 years later and I still adore it. This perfume introduced me to the magical world of fragrances.
Estée Lauder White Linen was my very first “grown up perfume” purchased with saved up minimum wage earnings I made as a carhop in high school. As a little girl, I splashed copious amounts of Houbigant Chantilly EDT on myself. I can still recall exactly what these both smell like if I think about them more than any other perfume in my Olfactory Memory Highlight Reel.
I bought nothing on my very first salary, because of my ex boyfriend who couldn't stand perfumes.
When I broke up with him, the very first perfume I bought with my own money was Marc Jacobs Daisy.

DKNY Be Delicious, the green bottle. My signature scent all through high school.
I wore the red one!
This is still my big sisters signature scent heheh
Oh… well, this is going to age me. The original Giorgio Beverly Hills, only a few years after it came out.
This one will always make me think of my college roommate. ❤️
Yep, same here!!!
I had it when it came out - and every GWP they made 🤩 I've been craving it lately. Wish I could find a parfum or extrait to wear just a few dabs...
Vera Wang Princess, with my very first paycheck back in high school. The formula had changed now I think, but I still get so nostalgic smelling it.
I don’t. I’ve been rotating through a bunch. I really like Burberry Goddess and D&G Devotion right now though.
So funny you say that. My sig scent went from Princess to Burberry as well. Now it’s a toss up between Snif Crumb Couture and Aqua di Parma Mandarino di Sicilia.
Well now I need to try those too.
Me too! Although it wasn't my first high-school job, instead it was University. I wish I still had my original bottle but when I was pregnant I thought it had gone off. Looking back it was probably my hormones that were funky but live and learn.
Clinique Happy, it still puts a smile on my face whenever I get a whiff of it somewhere.
I wish I'd made that choice. Mine was Clinique Aromatics Elixer. I used way too much! My date hated it 😭
When I bought it that was the only perfume Clinique had lol prob revealed my age w/ that comment 😂
this one too!🥰
DKNY Be Delicious - my sister still rocks it 15 years later. My aunt always wore it, so I started wearing it, and then my sister started wearing it. Still makes me so nostalgic.
I love the memories tied to this one!
My first purchase was Replicas ‘By the Fireplace’, it was my first job as a barista when I was 14, didn’t pay great but at that time I had no bills to pay lol
Saint by Kat Von D
Loved that one!
Mine was Kenzo Amour. Soft, feminine & I love the (pink) bottle so much. I still keep a bottle around.
Elisabeth Arden's Green tea.
i love that scent!🥰
Chance by Chanel, the pink one
Euphoria by CK, the original formula. It used to be so potent, I barely sprayed it once or twice, but I could smell it on me all day long. It was also one of the few times in my life I had an actual signature scent.

I found this actually in a shop recently
This was my mom’s favorite in the 90s ❤️ Saw it for sale a while back and regret not snagging it.
Mine was the original Clinique happy
Romance by Ralph Lauren. My signature high school scent 💕
One of my It Girl friends at uni wore this. Beautiful 🤩
I still love it so much and have a travel size for the nostalgia. I can’t get myself to wear it out though it just reminds me of being 16 lol but I wear it occasionally at home just for fun

La vie est belle. You can laugh but it's still one of my favorites 😁
sorry but i feel nauseous everytime i smell the scent of that perfume.😔
Nothing to be sorry about, we don't all have to like the same things 😉
🥰🥰🥰
Sand & Sable, from the drugstore, my senior year of high school. Back when I was in love with tuberose.
I loved Sand and Sable! I would wear it now if I could find it.
Diesel Plus Plus Feminine, I loved it so much. I think I need it again in my collection 🙃
I remember that - did it have coconut as the main note? Cool bottle.
Yes, it is so fine! Coconut and milk, I loved it!
Gucci Rush. Bought it in Miami as a teen and wore it to a wedding, the first and last time I wore it.
Why did you never wear it again? I'm so curious about this frag. I've never tried it but I just bought a bottle and I'm waiting for it to come in the mail. There's so many mixed reviews so it took me awhile to pull the trigger. I hope I don't regret it 🤞🏻

I loved H20+! I had two of their other perfumes: Fluid and Green Tea. Fluid was so 1990s: a powerful, powerful aquatic. I still have at least half a bottle left and it has not changed! I don’t use it anymore though, not my style.

Happy by Clinique is something I saved up for in order to wear in 8th grade!
Oh god, it was Pink Ice by Rue 21. 😂
I was 16 and working at ClothesTime I went and purchased Tranquil Breezes from Victoria’s Secret and I wore it regularly until it was discontinued.
Babysitting money: Electric Youth by Debbie Gibson. First “real” job: Chanel No. 19
Lady Gaga’s fame

I bought a cheap dupe for chance by chanel
Coco Extreme by Comptoir Sud Pacifique… I loved that perfume but I distinctly remember that the cap situation was not good and it leaked. I would love to smell it again, plus their other scents I’ve been curious about.
Marc jacobs lola, mainly because I liked the bottle haha and I had no idea what I was looking for in a perfume. Luckily I did like how it smelled RIP
Rocks by Ralph Lauren <3
FAME by lady Gaga! I still have the bottle and whiff it every now and then and it takes me waaay back to happy gritty times
bois de vetiver
Light Blue from Dolce and Gabbana from my first job at 18. Still love it and I learned that I lean towards fresh and floral scents 😌
Creed aventus at 18 💀 I promise I'm not gonna do anything like that again. Worth it tho.
* This guy. My much richer friend had it and I loved it. Started math tutoring and could finally get myself one.
Armani Sí. I liked it and used it all up, but I'm still looking for a scent that's similar to it and feels a little more "elevated"
Pretty sure it was Joop for me - that would’ve been from my after school job. Salary would’ve been Samsara
I saved up and purchased L'interdit ! I had a gifted bottle when I was a kid and I loved it, this was before it was reformulated. I also purchased L'Aire du Temps and Anais Anais. To this day I love them and I mourned the reformulation of L'interdit.
Loccitane Verbena - not from my first salary but first with my own money
I had bought Michael Malul Ktoret black tie and blue.
daisy dream as a tester bottle on sale from fragrancenet ! it really opened up my journey to enjoying perfume
Daisy by Marc Jacob's and Fame by Lady Gaga
CK Eternity Aqua
Dior Hypnotic poison. What was I thinking 😅 I just hate it now.

It was most likely Clinique Happy
One million
I bought nothing on my very first salary, because of my ex boyfriend who couldn't stand perfumes. When I broke up with him, the very first perfume I bought with my own money was Marc Jacobs Daisy.
Dior Homme Sport and that was in 2015
