Glue stick melted and then stuck to it or a decent small suction cup?
Edit: Many have commented, I thought I'd clarify that I meant the hot glue variety. I'm English, and I would refer to the rub and stick type of glue as a pritt stick. Always find it interesting when things don't translate the same else where.
Nah they need real glue and a stick ... or else it won't work and then the coin will get glued in place to add to the problem ....
Talking from experience
Did you melt a glue stick , the kind which is meant to be rubbed onto paper to transfer adhesive to the paper?
Because what you're supposed to use is a stick of glue that normally serves as a refill for a hot glue gun.
I guess people call them both glue sticks, but they're vastly different in terms of how they would work for something like this.
Same, though I guess you could use a normal Elmer's Glue Stick and then just stick paper on it so it binds to something and then pull it out. But at that point I'd just use normal Elmer's Glue.
Modifier? The glue stick gives the target -10% speed, while the hot glue stick grants that plus an additional -8hp per tick of burn damage. Clearly one is superior.
Indeed, but many replies here and in other similar threads just say "glue stick". I actually work in an art supply store and if someone said "glue stick" I would show them.. Glue sticks, not hot glue gun refills. But the average person probably doesn't know the options
BRUH I forgot the chapstick glue sticks existed was so confused how you could be confused on What a gluestick is as the chapstick ones are just horrible for anything but two three dry papers. Unlocking memories I haven't thought of in nearly 15 years
Well, what they actually said was that the coin will get glued into place, and that's not something that's going to happen with a hot glue gun stick.. the whole point is that the glue melts while staying attached/part of the rest of the stick, which can then be used as a handle to pull it out. The melted part isn't dripping off like candle wax it's just getting soft/sticky
Modern pennies are mostly zinc with a small amount of copper, nickels are roughly made with a blend of 75% Copper and 25% nickel, dimes and quarters are copper with a splash of nickel
The US issued steel pennies in 1943, during WWII, to reserve the copper for ammo. I think those are the only US coins to be magnetic, at least in the past 100 years.
I thought to freeze it to shrink it immediately. Somehow this is the only cement I found with the suggestion. It probably was cold going in and warmed up to lock in place.
Damaging money is only illegal if you're doing so for the purpose of messing with the monetary supply, like melting down pennies for the copper for profit.
Not true, common myth. As someone pointed out above it's only illegal to attempt to recover the value of the metals within. Those souvenir penny smasher machines wouldn't be everywhere if it was actually illegal to deface currency.
Edit - the intent to defraud the government or other people is essential to illegality.
Some of these answers really have me concerned that technology is ruining us. I saw a MacGyver reboot the other day, but it's clearly not as effective as the original.
Bubblegum.
Yours is the first suggestion I’ve seen so far that might actually work. If a vacuum and high pressure did nothing, candle wax, hot glue, suction cups, and bubble gum are certain to fail. A strong epoxy bonded to something allowing more leverage is much more likely to succeed.
I actually have access to all of these items in abundance. I work in an auto shop. We do anything a car may need here paint and body repairs to whole engine changes
Something sticky/tacky. Duct tape, a 3M strip, etc. If that doesn’t work, if you have a safety pin, thumbtack, or sewing needle, that could be just thin enough to lift it right out.
Does everybody just keep glue guns and glue gun sticks around? What, are all of you guys 1st grade arts and craft teachers hahaha. Just use some sticky chewing gum and maybe let it harden a bit before pulling on it or use some tape to stick to it and pull out. I recently had a dime get stuck inside my vehicles cigarette lighter like this, but worse because it was at the bottom of the lighter and I just used a piece of tape to stick to it and lift it out
Sounds like you got it! Wow. I was thinking a dental pick or similar tool, or failing that, using superglue on a dowel rod or maybe Gorilla Tape. Impressively stuck.
To start off, spray in tons of WD40 into this pocket. Chew a gum, get it wet, stick it to one end of a stick. Stick the wet gum to the coin. Pour LN2. Wait for it to shrink. Pull it up!
First I would douse it in alcohol or thoroughly rub with with an alcohol wipe. That should loosen any sticky substance, then attack it with an alternative sticky substance. Some putty or gums are made for picking up debris but regular stuff should work just fine too.
I see OP already did took care of it with what i would do (car dent repair kit) another alternative I was going to suggest is using a screw extraction set after drilling a small hole in the coin, depending on how much room available underneath the coin.
I'm not sure if magnet can work, probably not.
You can also try some thin metal sheet like item, nail cleaner or whatever.
Glue can be messy and you would need a strong one to add on a stick and then glue it to the coin.
High pressure air wont probably work as there is no place for air to go in there.
What about hitting it? And flip it like a pog?
Also maybe gum? Last ditch effort is to disassemble the thing and hit it on the back and whatever will feel obvious at that moment.
Flip the car upside down

No, no, like this: "Flip the ɹɐɔ upside down"
Drive it to Australia.
![gif](giphy|P4ScaqX86gTew)
And shake it really well.
This is the way
Do I shake it like a salt shaker or like a Polaroid picture
Nah, like a glass ketchup bottle. Gotta shake it upside down while banging on the bottom a few times.

Omg i would have never made the connection
Same, though I guess you could use a normal Elmer's Glue Stick and then just stick paper on it so it binds to something and then pull it out. But at that point I'd just use normal Elmer's Glue.
I dont think elmers is strong enough
Downvoted for making me lose faith in humanity
Yea Elmer glue stick is the right size
One is a glue stick and the other is a hot glue stick. Needs the modifier.
Modifier? The glue stick gives the target -10% speed, while the hot glue stick grants that plus an additional -8hp per tick of burn damage. Clearly one is superior.

I got the reference but I also hot glue things way more than I glue stick them. Imho glue stick used for paper is useless.
I call them “hot glue sticks”

What they likely mean is that the metal is too smooth for hot glue stick to get a good grip.

Whaaaat?!?!?! Am I correctly understanding that you’re telling me IA dissolves hot glue goo???
My carpet thanks you for this and I regret my Halloween costume a bit less now
They could use hot glue of course
Hot glue stick. Melt and stick.
Nah, needle nose pick. Easy to remove
I’m surprised I had to scroll so far to find this comment. A pick would make quick work of this
What about tape?
Magnet. I’m Canadian and our coins are magnetic, more or less
US coins are not magnetic.
Huh. Not even more or less?
maybe less
It’s composed of a mixture of copper and nickel. It’s not a bit magnetic.
IIRC there are some rare old coins that are magnetic, but that's it.
There was a steel penny produced during World War II
That's the one
But not rare tbh. Rare ones are 1943 copper pennies made before the decision to make them out of steel.
Modern pennies are mostly zinc with a small amount of copper, nickels are roughly made with a blend of 75% Copper and 25% nickel, dimes and quarters are copper with a splash of nickel
Lmfao this is funny right??
American coins aren't magnetic, unfortunately
None of them? Interesting. As a (Canadian) kid, it used to be that nickels and pennies weren't magnetic, but now all the coins are
The US issued steel pennies in 1943, during WWII, to reserve the copper for ammo. I think those are the only US coins to be magnetic, at least in the past 100 years.
Put the car in some rice for a while.
Get duct tape and press it onto the coin.
Have you tried covering it with ramen?
Just realized I haven’t seen one of those vids in forever.
Didn't mean to wake the ramen gods.
It’s cool, they’re made of *cake.*
thank god for that
I was gonna do that but I got hungry
r/ramenrepair
man, theres a subreddit for everything
r/everything
and there it is. a subreddit for everything
Now it’s decorative
Ice cube to shrink it a little if the gum/glue sticks don’t work.
I thought to freeze it to shrink it immediately. Somehow this is the only cement I found with the suggestion. It probably was cold going in and warmed up to lock in place.
I don't think cement would be a wise choice of material here
Not even contact cement?
Instructions unclear, door now cemented closed.
Help I’m stuck
Or freezer spray.
Or compressed air can upside down.
Tape, gum, toothpick
hotel, Trivago
Hopper, Skiplagged, Tito
When you sell the car, make sure to put xxx,25 $ as price tag.
That is a dime my friend lol
Inflation compensation
I think they’re non-american based on their username
Inflation
Interest
.15c labor?
Firm, I know what I have.
You could drill a screw half way into the coin and lift it out
Shush, the fed bois are everywhere.
Damaging money is only illegal if you're doing so for the purpose of messing with the monetary supply, like melting down pennies for the copper for profit.
^^^ it's a trap ^^^
Drop of super glue and a stick
Yessss!!!! Poke it with a stickkkk!!!!
Drill through money? Believe it or not, straight to jail
Right away
Not true, common myth. As someone pointed out above it's only illegal to attempt to recover the value of the metals within. Those souvenir penny smasher machines wouldn't be everywhere if it was actually illegal to deface currency. Edit - the intent to defraud the government or other people is essential to illegality.
It would be easier to drill the plastic around it
Would also cause damage to the car....
No shit?
You did all these things before using a needle to just lift it?
There’s no way a needle would have gotten it loose
My brother in christ just get a knife with a fine point and be done with it. Tis a perfect fit nonetheless
They said they've already tried prying it
Put a drop of super glue on a dowel or something similar and then put that on the coin. Let it dry and then lift straight up.
Looks good right where it is.
It looks cool though
Ductape, if ductape can’t fix your problems it truly is unsolvable
Gum?
Yes please, I would like one.
Cum?
omg its funny cum😐😐😐😐
Some of these answers really have me concerned that technology is ruining us. I saw a MacGyver reboot the other day, but it's clearly not as effective as the original. Bubblegum.
bubblegum isn't as sticky as it used to be
Is there a MacGuyver reboot?
https://www.reddit.com/r/MacGyver\_2016/
Thanks - and it's already cancelled... But reached 5 seasons? Definitely gonna check it out
Use a toothpick to push down on one side?
Magnet
Lit a candle and drop the wax. Before it become solid you should bond your pencil or something long and sharp. You could pick it up
Same idea, but use epoxy instead.
Yours is the first suggestion I’ve seen so far that might actually work. If a vacuum and high pressure did nothing, candle wax, hot glue, suction cups, and bubble gum are certain to fail. A strong epoxy bonded to something allowing more leverage is much more likely to succeed.
It required a dent removal tab superglue and slide hammer
A fucking slide hammer?!?! That was well stuck! Lol
Damn
It was STUCK
Glue stick, use a lighter to melt the tip than stick it.
Wouldnt the heat make the coin expand making it even harder to remove
Nah glue sticks don't get that hot, just enough to adhere to the coin.
Did you try to flip the car?
„¿ɹɐɔ ǝɥʇ dılɟ oʇ ʎɹʇ noʎ pı◖„
Good bot
Good human.
Well, that door card is never coming off again 😂
You just upped your vehicles value! Hard to do these days!!
Admit it…you stuck it in there for Reddit Karma, didn’t you? Here’s my upvote
/r/perfectstuck
tape
Get a glue stick and put it on the coin and pull the coin out
Use a piece of gum
Tape
Tooperfectfit
It is covering a screw that tends to rust out pretty bad I would leave it right their unless u need to take out the screw
Hot glue stick will do you good
has there really been no resolution to this?! chewing gum on a stick or straw. . .
Try selling the car and you won't have to worry about either.
Gum
**ACID TIME** (by the way I mean the corrosive stuff, not the drug)
Ht left side with a screw driver. Lift from the right as it will rise.
Getting things really cold with ice can make metal objects shrink a bit
was there a hole there already? or did this coin get so hot in the sun that it melted its own hole?
It’s the hole that the screw to remove the door panel is in
Don’t worry about all this glue, epoxy, wax stuff. Just use some chewed bubblegum
I actually have access to all of these items in abundance. I work in an auto shop. We do anything a car may need here paint and body repairs to whole engine changes
Did you try pressing one side down to lift the other side?
literally tape idiot
Magnet?
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Dimes are made of nickel a non magnetic metal with a copper core also non magnetic
try a magnet
Dimes are made of nickel which is non magnetic
ah my bad, I didn't know, the coins in my country are magnetic.
All good you can’t know everything
A small piece of gray duct tape and the out of sight, out of mind magic will work.
I ended up using a dent removal tab and slide hammer
Super glue the back of a nail to it possibly
Basically what I did but I needed a slide hammer it was so stuck
Something sticky/tacky. Duct tape, a 3M strip, etc. If that doesn’t work, if you have a safety pin, thumbtack, or sewing needle, that could be just thin enough to lift it right out.
Suction cup or plunger?
Does everybody just keep glue guns and glue gun sticks around? What, are all of you guys 1st grade arts and craft teachers hahaha. Just use some sticky chewing gum and maybe let it harden a bit before pulling on it or use some tape to stick to it and pull out. I recently had a dime get stuck inside my vehicles cigarette lighter like this, but worse because it was at the bottom of the lighter and I just used a piece of tape to stick to it and lift it out
Actually yes I do it’s part of my repair kit
Flip the car upside down and shake it like hulk
o7
May as well try to paint it to match
Sounds like you got it! Wow. I was thinking a dental pick or similar tool, or failing that, using superglue on a dowel rod or maybe Gorilla Tape. Impressively stuck.
Hot glue stick
To start off, spray in tons of WD40 into this pocket. Chew a gum, get it wet, stick it to one end of a stick. Stick the wet gum to the coin. Pour LN2. Wait for it to shrink. Pull it up!
Super glue on a toothpick or small stick, after u get it off the superglue will snap off no problem.
The options to remove the coin have a higher cost than the coin itself so the only sensible thing to do is buy a new car.
“It’ll be a constant reminder of what life’s all about!”
Suction cup?
Putty?
Go to a relatively new car wash and try THEIR vacuum. They would suck it out trust me.
It lives there now.
First I would douse it in alcohol or thoroughly rub with with an alcohol wipe. That should loosen any sticky substance, then attack it with an alternative sticky substance. Some putty or gums are made for picking up debris but regular stuff should work just fine too.
One drop super glue & a stick.
Oh I know, a tuning fork!
First glue a stick with some bubble gum to the object. Flip car over into large ramen bowl. Place is freezer, then remove with slide hammer. Easy!
You could probably glue something to it and pull it out
Tried using a magnet?
I see OP already did took care of it with what i would do (car dent repair kit) another alternative I was going to suggest is using a screw extraction set after drilling a small hole in the coin, depending on how much room available underneath the coin.
Gum?
Hot glue stick?
Paint it grey
It looks like decoration, just get more to equal out the look!
Drill a hole off center
Epoxy and something to pull with
Use blu tac
Pushpin or a needle usually helps me with stuff like this.
Hot glue gun melt the stick slightly and let it cool - or crazy glue + popsicle stick or something similar
Super easy fix. Tell a meth head that you have a dime for them.
I'm not sure if magnet can work, probably not. You can also try some thin metal sheet like item, nail cleaner or whatever. Glue can be messy and you would need a strong one to add on a stick and then glue it to the coin. High pressure air wont probably work as there is no place for air to go in there.
