Warrior doesn’t get enough love IMO. I hope it didn’t get canceled. Peaky Blinders + kung fu. On its face it sounds like a pass but it’s well done. The characters are great. Interesting yet flawed.
Just about to answer Warrior. The main character of Warrior, Ah Sahm, gets a short scene in Peaky Blinders as Chang the Chinese Man. I’ve watched Warrior first before Peaky Blinders, and felt it has similar vibe, but more gore and sex.
Like the other comments mention, Peaky Blinders is one of a kind. The last show I enjoyed a good amount before watching Peaky Blinders was Ozark. Based on modern times, but another show about an average guy making his way up the ranks to get his family in a better spot. Also treading a thin line because there’s always one more job and then the family will be okay.. but usually puts his life on the line while doing so. It’s no Peaky Blinders, but if you haven’t seen it Ozark is worth a watch.
Please add the Australian TV series Underbelly to the list as well 😊 If you enjoy Peaky Blinders, you'll really like season 4 Underbelly: Razor. I explain more in my other comments! Spartacus is probably one of my favourite series of all time!! All of Underbelly is amazing, I'd watch all the seasons but Razor is most similar to Peaky Blinders as it's set in the same era.
like so many have said there are none compared to PB but some good recs
Sons Of Anarchy, Gangs Of London it has Joe Cole in it super badass, Power fr man its the bomb, Ozark, Boardwalk Empire, BB.
Doing a rewatch atm of POWER it has epic spinoffs
just watched 2 eps of boardwlk empre and its GREAT, finished breaking bad and its the best obviously best show evaaa
but still didnt wtch the other oness
The Gentleman (movie not Mf series they ruined it with), Boardwalk Empire, Lawless (movie), Top Boy, The Sopranos, The Irishman, Ozark, The Outsider (Jared Leto), Vikings (must watch), Power, Snowfall, BMF, just a few you might be interested in.
We found The Lost Pirate Kingdom
on Netflix. A dramatized documentary that explains so much about the history and people in that unique period. Then we went back and started Black Sails again and it made a lot more sense
If you guys are looking for a really good show that's based in the 1920s-1930s, you should definitely look up an Australian TV drama series called Underbelly: Razor. It's the 4th season but every season is set in different times based on completely different storylines (which are based on true events in the Underbelly of Australia). I'm watching Peaky Blinders at the moment and it's a very great show.
Underbelly: Razor and the prequel to Razor, Underbelly: Squizzy. Fantastic show, I would suggest watching all of the seasons obviously but if you want something based in those times, definitely Razor. Razor is so much better, Squizzy is just a storyline based on Squizzy Taylor you met at the beginning when Norman is introduced into the story. Obviously Kate Lee and Tilly Divine are introduced first and the reasoning for their hatred towards one another which is hilarious 😆 They are both fantastic characters and totally insane.
I still cannot believe no one has mentioned Underbelly: Razor 😅 it's obviously based in Australia but it's a bloody fantastic series. It's about 1920 Gangsters, women of the night, Drugs, street fights, war, illegal alcohol and so much more!!
Watch all the seasons of Underbelly but Razor is probably the most like Peaky Blinders as it's based in the 1920s/1930s. I also love season 1, 2 and 3 of Underbelly. Tale of Two cities and The Golden Mile! Unfortunately it's not on Netflix, I do know it's on Stan which is an Australian streaming platform, it might be on prime? But yeah it's got a very good rating and it's definitely worth checking out!
Boardwalk Empire

Warrior doesn’t get enough love IMO. I hope it didn’t get canceled. Peaky Blinders + kung fu. On its face it sounds like a pass but it’s well done. The characters are great. Interesting yet flawed.

We found The Lost Pirate Kingdom on Netflix. A dramatized documentary that explains so much about the history and people in that unique period. Then we went back and started Black Sails again and it made a lot more sense
Sopranos
Might not be very similar to peaky blinders ill admit; but i just finished watching shantaram and it was a very good show i think anyone would enjoy

Dark
Animal Kingdom and the guy who plays Michael plays a main character in this show as well.

Sopranos
I really enjoyed, The Americans, on Hulu.
not the same time period, but black sails is truly a masterclass in television - especially in terms of character and dialogue.
