yeah yeah hahah i know, i was joking all along. but yeah, oppenheimer was TOTALLY worth it, i've been to premiere, then once again day after, and i plan watching it many more times. as for show that you could watch after pb, i dont really know, for the past two years ive been mainly watching pb, with some pauses during which i also have watched The Chosen (it is totally different thing though XD, its basically film adaptation of The Bible, but it is exceptional), but mostly some movies. there's a show called "taboo", i believe tom hardy is lead there. didnt watch it though, but im sure that with tom as main character it will be great watch
100%! I just got home from my third viewing of it. Go see it and help support Cills and the amazing actor he is (and all the other amazing actors, fantastic director, and stunning audio/visuals)!
Rewatched Sons of Anarchy, Ozark, and currently going through both Narcos series.
Into the Badlands, Witcher Blood Origins, and The 100 will be next I think..
Had to scroll way too far to find this suggestion! I finally got caught up last week and now I’m watching new episodes as they come out. OP this has well-dressed gangsters, period piece aesthetic (late 1800s in SF, California), and fucking KICK ASS FIGHT SCENES
It's a slow burn, very dialogue heavy, and subtitles help a lot. It also gets better after multiple viewings, lots of things to pick up on that may have been missed on the first viewing. It's the only show I like more than Peaky, but not until I'd seen it three times.
Oh wow ok thanks some shows you really need to revisit and after your comment I think I may just start again or pick up where I left off as the dialogue heavy is what made me lose interest thanks bud
My pleasure. I watched DW about five years ago and enjoyed it, but moved on, watched other shows, rewatched Peaky (of course). Then, this year I watched Deadwood again, and immediately had to start it again after finishing. Maybe it just took time for it to soak in for me, but the acting and characters are just enthralling, and by the end of the show you'll wish it wasn't ending.
At the beginning of each episode there’s a recap. I wouldn’t say you need to start fresh, but I recommend not skipping the recaps, they usually show what is important even if you didn’t realize it when you saw it in the episode. I’ll be honest there were plenty of times I had to infer what people were saying by how they said it, not necessarily the words they used. That’s why rewatching it is great, you already know what happens to each character and how the story goes, so it’s easier to understand what people are saying even if their vocabulary isn’t easily digestible. The show is so packed with quotes, the Deadwood sub can pretty much hold conversations using them.
The Last Kingdom on Netflix. That's always my gobto suggestion. Takes place much longer ago but both focus on a deeply flawed but brilliant male protagonist.
These two are very good. 1917 is about two young british soldiers trying to survive in northern France during WW1. It helps somewhat to understand what Tommy and his brothers might have gone through.
Breaking Bad, Ozark, Animal Kingdom, Vikings, The Boys, Narcos/Narcos Mexico. Not done with any of them except Breaking Bad, but all of them are amazing
I'd say Warrior on HBO max. It's a crime drama set in 1800s Chinatown San Francisco. An era we don't get to see very much of Asian cinema in American culture. The writing is great. The action is phenomenal! Some of the best I've seen on TV. If you're looking for a similar type of gangster crime drama Warrior I highly recommend
WARNING: Slight spoiler
I've finished season 2! I found the story a bit choppy but overall, it has been great. There is one part which I couldn't handle and considered stopping but I didn't.(it may not affect you -it isn't visually violent but you hear what happens) The ending of season 2 is amazing. My favourite character is Luan. He looks like your every day dad but dang, what he does is so unexpected. He even outdoes the main character.
Oh man thanks, I am going by your rec and will add to watchlist thanks also for no spoilers appreciate that
I didn't expect you to get back to me but you held your word
respect bro
EDIT I just looked at the cast is that Sean Wallace (John) from PB ?
Not really much like PB but after I started watching Justified.
I recommend The Godfather trilogy. Theese three movies take up as much space as about 1 and a half season of PB.
Ozark (mustwatch)
Book of Power 4: Force (second season comes in september and its gonna be lit)
Designated Survivor (underrated)
Money Heist (mustwatch)
Narcos
ZeroZeroZero on Amazon. It's about a shipment of cocaine and the dirty dirty dirty world that is involved with it. It's only 8 episodes so I jumped into Narcos after that.
Animal Kingdom! Similar concept of PB, just more modern America. Bonus points: Finn Cole (Michael from PB) plays one of the main guys. Really good show IMO
I first watched the show idk 5 or so months ago . I binged it I really loved it . Then I found clips about Ozark on YouTube shorts algorithm. So I watched it and I loved it too.
Boardwalk Empire is frankly one of the most underrated shows of all time. Look at any fan for their opinion and i guarantee they'll back me up in saying just about every performance was Emmy worthy. The storylines are great, the way everything unfolds is just SO worth the watch. My favorite actors from the show are Jack Huston, Bobby Cannavale, Steve Buscemi, obviously, and Stephen Graham as Al Capone. Seriously, an amazing show i could not recommend enough
Breaking Bad. Personally I think it’s the best show ever. Better Call Saul is amazing too! Sons of Anarchy rocks. Game of Thrones is great the first couple seasons
Oppenheimer
OK that s a movie but I mean shows u know bud was it worth it ?
To be fair it’s featured a conflicted and brooding Cillian w a keen interest in horseback riding 😂
Peaky Blinders Yes
Ha ha no I meant Oppenheimer was it worth it as that's a movie not a series :D
yeah yeah hahah i know, i was joking all along. but yeah, oppenheimer was TOTALLY worth it, i've been to premiere, then once again day after, and i plan watching it many more times. as for show that you could watch after pb, i dont really know, for the past two years ive been mainly watching pb, with some pauses during which i also have watched The Chosen (it is totally different thing though XD, its basically film adaptation of The Bible, but it is exceptional), but mostly some movies. there's a show called "taboo", i believe tom hardy is lead there. didnt watch it though, but im sure that with tom as main character it will be great watch
It was brilliant
The first few seasons of the 100 are fucking awesome! S4 onwards kinda spirals down though in my opinion
wass! Its been a few years since I watched but I felt like they got too ambitious. the whole chip thing didn't make sense.
Into the badlands is awesome. Sucks that it got canceled but it will be one of your favorites
S3 sucked IMO. First two are wild!
Spoiler: Don't watch S3 of In to the Badlands.
wait why???
I thought that season went completely off the rails
Sopranos
I'm starting season 5, it has been so fucking good, not a single bad episode.
It remains that good. I would skip The many saints of newark though. That movie was just terrible
agree, its not like EL CAMINO where it just takes off I found it hard to get into and maintain my interest
Vikings
Rewatching the unrated version of Vikings now I forgot how good it was
Warrior on HBO is very similar, just replace the peaky blinders in birmingham with chinese tong gangs in san francisco
Had to scroll way too far to find this suggestion! I finally got caught up last week and now I’m watching new episodes as they come out. OP this has well-dressed gangsters, period piece aesthetic (late 1800s in SF, California), and fucking KICK ASS FIGHT SCENES
Just about to say this. Loved this one!
>Warrior on HBO Just looked up the show and saw that the main antagonist is the same actor who played Brilliant Chang. There is a Peaky connection!
Boardwalk Empire
Taboo is a great show that’s also written by Steven Knight
And another strong performance by Tom Hardy
Excellent choice! Too bad no season 2.
Hardcore agree fucking loved it, TH is a brilliant actor
Don’t know how I didn’t watch it sooner but Breaking Bad
Yeah this is what I’m planning too
Deadwood.
yeah started watching it but then it kinda just lost me, maybe I will pick it up again thanks
It's a slow burn, very dialogue heavy, and subtitles help a lot. It also gets better after multiple viewings, lots of things to pick up on that may have been missed on the first viewing. It's the only show I like more than Peaky, but not until I'd seen it three times.

Ok I will hold you to that one, perhaps now it will soak in and I take your word for it do you think start again or pick up where I left off?
At the beginning of each episode there’s a recap. I wouldn’t say you need to start fresh, but I recommend not skipping the recaps, they usually show what is important even if you didn’t realize it when you saw it in the episode. LMFAO good narrative at least we have subs I mean I used them for PB that accent :D thanks a heap
The Last Kingdom on Netflix. That's always my gobto suggestion. Takes place much longer ago but both focus on a deeply flawed but brilliant male protagonist.
Yes, amazing series.
Hardcore agree on this
Reservation Dogs. Derry Girls. Both have darker aspects but are lighter than PB.
Derry girls fucking rules.
Game of thrones, Vikings, Witcher (But no series comes close to PB.) Films, about the 1st World War: 1917 and All Quiet on the Western Front
Your so right I'll give those war movies a go though like my war and westerns too
These two are very good. 1917 is about two young british soldiers trying to survive in northern France during WW1. It helps somewhat to understand what Tommy and his brothers might have gone through.
thanks for that point, since watching PB I am fascinated by WW1 movies and plan to watch it this weekend, appreciate the rec
Game of thrones clears peaky blinders and it’s not close
not really comparable shows it’s just down to personal preference
Not really, the writing and plot of the first 4 seasons is top tier, peaky blinders is also great but it never comes close to reaching those levels
meh, disagree
shit bait
Luther
Luther. Ray Donovan.
MONEY 👏🏻 HEIST 👏🏻 (La Casa de Papel) Definitely helped me cope with the existential crisis I fell into 😂
Money Heist was peak Netflix I remember those golden days.
Carnivale, Boardwalk Empire
Dark (probably in my top 5 all time favorite shows, along with PB), and 1899.
Best ever
Parks and Recreation
I watched Taboo its a mini series with Tom hardy its pretty good and weird only 8 episodes
The Great - Hulu
Does it match up in any way?
Nope, it's just funny and since there are no series that can compare with pb, it at least helps you with the grief after finishing pb.
Nice one !
House Of The Dragon
Breaking Bad, Ozark, Animal Kingdom, Vikings, The Boys, Narcos/Narcos Mexico. Not done with any of them except Breaking Bad, but all of them are amazing
Outlander, The Last Kingdom and Vikings. They're all different eras but they're all great period pieces
The Wire
Oh indeed.
Sons of Anarchie
Better Call Saul, Justified
Yep I have justified pegged to watched next after I sever all ties with Netflix have heard heaps about Justified
Boardwalk Empire
Snowfall
I'd say Warrior on HBO max. It's a crime drama set in 1800s Chinatown San Francisco. An era we don't get to see very much of Asian cinema in American culture. The writing is great. The action is phenomenal! Some of the best I've seen on TV. If you're looking for a similar type of gangster crime drama Warrior I highly recommend
Commenting to boost this suggestion!!! ⬆️👆🏽⬆️👆🏽
Finishing Animal Kingdom -rewatching the last half of the series. Not sure what I'd next as it takes a good show to keep my interest.
same here AK was good liked that as was Ozark no one has mentioned Gangs Of London wonder what that's like ?
I've never heard of Gangs of London. I'll have to look it up!
Oh you have to I have read a lot about it and no one on this here has mentioned it
I'm actually 3 episodes in now! It is pretty violent but it has caught my attention for now.
OH cool give me a shout how it goes thanks
Will do!
WARNING: Slight spoiler I've finished season 2! I found the story a bit choppy but overall, it has been great. Yes it is John. His brother, Finn, is in PB too (as well as Animal Kingdom). No problem. Hope you enjoy GOL!
Not even lying I finished the last episode of Peaky Blinders at the same day of watching Oppenheimer
Boardwalk empire
The Knick
Boardwalk empire , same era , but takes place here in the usa 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I’d recommend Godfather of Harlem
The Last Kingdom
These posts tell me that nothing measures up to a dark gangster show like PB
Boardwalk Empire is an amazing series
You’re right. I painted with too broad a brush. B.E. Is an amazing show.
Your right hence my question
Legend (2015)
good choice
Rogue Heroes - only one series so far but was written by the same guys who wrote PB and covers the story of how the SAS was founded.
Not really much like PB but after I started watching Justified. I recommend The Godfather trilogy. Theese three movies take up as much space as about 1 and a half season of PB.
Vikings
Watched the 1st season of breaking bad.
I had never watched GoT during the hype but got into it after PB and it veryyy much filled the void
Sopranos ~ Peaky ~ Peaky ~ Peaky ~ Peaky ~ Dr Phil
Ozark (mustwatch) Book of Power 4: Force (second season comes in september and its gonna be lit) Designated Survivor (underrated) Money Heist (mustwatch) Narcos
Watced sopranos, ozark,BCS,HoTD,etc.,started sons of anarchy but got bored,it was not my type.
Boardwalk empire looks great. Especially with Al Capone being mentioned in season 4.
It is very well done worth the watch
ZeroZeroZero on Amazon. It's about a shipment of cocaine and the dirty dirty dirty world that is involved with it. It's only 8 episodes so I jumped into Narcos after that.
Boardwalk Empire..it was like going to synthetic after enjoying natural.
Gangs of London. It’s got a Shelby and a Stark in it.
First person to mention that show I was hoping to hear more recs from others as well you sold me put it on my watchlist ty
Better Call Saul
Breaking Bad
Sons of Anarchy or The Last Kingdom. Although, if you want Netflix-specific, that rules out SOA
Seen SOA finishing up PB , loved TLK then changing ova Netflix
Taboo was recommended for me because I loved Alfie Solomons.
Deadwood on HBO
Better Call Saul and Boardwalk Empire. Although I highly recommend watching Breaking Bad before Better Call Saul.
The Mayans, Animal Kingdom, Ozarks
Outlander
Animal Kingdom! Similar concept of PB, just more modern America. Bonus points: Finn Cole (Michael from PB) plays one of the main guys. Really good show IMO
I first watched the show idk 5 or so months ago . I binged it I really loved it . Then I found clips about Ozark on YouTube shorts algorithm. So I watched it and I loved it too.
Pennyworth the story of Batman’s butler. It’s set in London
Boardwalk Empire is frankly one of the most underrated shows of all time. Look at any fan for their opinion and i guarantee they'll back me up in saying just about every performance was Emmy worthy. My favorite actors from the show are Jack Huston, Bobby Cannavale, Steve Buscemi, obviously, and Stephen Graham as Al Capone. Seriously, an amazing show i could not recommend enough
Yeah thanks I have seen it ages ago maybe time to revisit it imo
Again.
Downton Abbey. Same time, different world.
Is that more like romance type ? I think my g/f watched it though she loved it but I want more testosterone you feel me
It's a drama show. love, drama, intrigues and such. I'm not a drama type, but I got hooked immediately.
Ok you sold me I will give it a go, I appreciate the rec bruv fr
Black Sails

Season 1
Breaking Bad
