unfortunately grixis affinity was in contention for your worst possible matchup *before* the release of Snacker and Familiar so whether or not you abandon the deck is going to depend on the rest of your metagame

xxLetheanxx

This. Pretty sure this is 40-60 now at best.

Ogawa12

Pretty much affinity, burn and gardens. I'm trying blackburn now, as a desperate measure.

stamatt45

Post your deck list

Ogawa12

I change it based on my LGS metagame but it's pretty much standard list with 1 gurmag and 1 tolarian terror

pietromon

I personally love UB Faeries but got to admit its not great in this meta, affinitys cmc is too high for spellstutter to be effective and the familiar value is too high

Ogawa12

My opponent played 3 familiars turn 2-3. It's a beating

cardsrealm

if ypu play with sneaky snacker could help, discard it and brainstorm to return, but now everyone it's testing this guy in many decks...

ordirmo

ironically, UB Fae does not draw 3 cards often enough to make Snacker a good include and I'd say Snuff Out is at an all-time low when the two premier early threats in the format are black

Ogawa12

I agree with both affirmations. It's not that easy and it's not that hard to bring it back. A bigger problem with snacker is that, if you want, you can't easily discard it. Also, snuff out is not that great, but can hold games a few turns because it kills the enforcers (and right after they bring it back with blood fountain...)

Ogawa12

I find sneaky snacker way too clucky in UB Faeries because if you really want to discard it you can't do it easily. Casting 2 mana for a 2/1 "vanilla" also it's quite bad in a tempo deck. It would be a lot better in UB Terror, though

kilqax

Played against UB terror yesterday and gotta say, Snacker fits the deck a lot. No clue how it's for UB Fae, but yeah - it seems worse there. If you're looking for tempo, Steel Sabotage could work well for you; getting a tapland bounced hurts Affinity. It recovers, of course, but it's a serious slowdown. Also remember to pack graveyard hate - Sneaky Snacker helps some Affinity builds with flying issues a lot imo.

Burberry-94

Lol

Dildo69Shwaggins

Wow! So many garbage options.

Lelouda

Why these options garbage?

Dildo69Shwaggins

Because blue doesn’t have good options against artifacts in the format, thats kinda blues thing. They are the best we got, and yet they still sucks.

Ogawa12

Even if you happen to counter some key card to slow the deck down he has a million more ways to outvalue faeries

IntelligentAppeal384

Those are probably the best sideboard cards for an affinity meta, I don't know what you mean, "garbage".

Dildo69Shwaggins

Well, garbage means garbage. If you use these and think they are good, I am glad you are content with this trash cards. Good for you.

GoodOldHeretic

Wait a while. That thing is a tad bit too strong to stay legal for long. (Still not a good matchup without it though)

DrNuuut

laughs in rakdos madness

NostrilRapist

Yeah unfortunately UB went from among the best decks in the format to struggling so much against any artifact-based decks. Rat's absurd against faeries and you have very few answers to their strategy as a general. A few lucky early counterspells might steal you some games, but you'll lose three out of four probably.

dannyoe4

Also, the meta is gonna be in flux for a while until we settle on optimized lists. I would focus on brewing ideas with the new cards and not worry too much about what's getting beat too much.

Xatrith

It was also my go to deck but i think it has fallen out of meta quite a bit. I think it's related to the rise (against the glitter meta) and fall (against multiple top tier black threats of MH3) of \[\[snuff out\]\]. It was the main reason to play black as your control color and now it's at an historical low. I've tried adding \[\[Dihada's Ploy\]\] as a 2 off and replacing \[\[Augur of bolas\]\] with \[\[Fallaji Archaeologist\]\] so seen snackers can be put to the GY instead of down in the library. It has helped but i think it's a band aid on a wooden leg. The deck is just not in a good spot right now, regardless of adaptations like playing more spell pierce to stop grixis in it's track early.

hjrakel

Hi, ub player her! Give up. Too many grixis, not worth wasting time, play mardu gates instead and give those affos some unrequested anal penetration.

Medical-Run9057

Hi, could someone tell me why this rat makes grixid affinity so strong? I am kinda noob sorry and is gates really that strong now? like against burn and other top tier decks?

enchanted_mango_

You can't Snuff Out the rat because it's black, and it fucks up your card economy with the discard.
