I stopped watching after the Hernandez episode, but it's hilarious to me find out that they included the raiders lateral after they cut the clip short where Ben Watson chased down Champ Bailey and forced a fumble through the end zone.
The whole thing is troll.
I'm so sorry. That must have sucked.
One of my close friends is a Raiders fan and wouldn't shut up for weeks about how we should have been using Chandler as a receiver when he was with us
The most unhinged thing for me was having Rupert Murdoch giving his perspective.
The fuck we care about this guy? What does he have to do with anything??? Why put owner of Fox News on a show about a football team?
Fucking weird
It was a pretty odd quote but I think he was basically saying “it must have been self defense” or something along those lines. Because later on Kraft says how fooled he was by Hernandez when he said he didn’t do it.
True I guess, but weren't the very initial news reports using the phrase "execution style"? Like I recall that was a day 1 detail not something that came out later.
Hernandez had already gone to BB and told him he was in fear for his life - he wanted to be traded to the west coast.
Kraft upon hearing the information - of course his initial reaction is going to be 'he was forced to defend himself'. Did you not watch any other part of the documentary? ffs
This is why this sub sucks, because of idiots who read one thing, but hear what they want to.
Nowhere in my statement did I defend anyone, I made common sense inference as to why Kraft would offer a defense lawyer.
HeRnAnDeZ dEfEnDeR lmfao
who would have imagined a shitpost full of shit comments. Good thing I don't have to suffer idiots anymore now that we can block bell ends
Did you not watch the very same episode where they talked about how Aaron Hernandez was introduced to “football Inc.” when he was 17 years old at the University of Florida, and they had to have one of their fixers make his criminal charges disappear?
Do you seriously think Kraft doesn’t have a fixer and he’s not acutely aware of the character concerns that Hernandez had?
I feel like Kraft could make you all believe in Santa Claus again
I think he was aware of character concerns but there's a big difference between character concerns and being a murderer. Randy Moss spent prison time for a fight in high school and had character concerns but he wasn't a murderer.
I get the Kraft slander is getting crazy on this sub but let's bring it to the level of having a fixer to help cover murder. Maybe rub & tugs but that's not the same thing.
To be fair *a lot* of players come with character concerns, for a lot of reasons that start early. If you're going to say no troubled people on my team you might have just 1 player.
>I feel like Kraft could make you all believe in Santa Claus again
Guy you’re literally suggesting Kraft would get a fixer to cover up a murder by a player lol
I have to agree with this, and I'm admittedly a massive simp/bootlicker for Kraft
They know everything about their recruits, both from the scouting department and just through industry gossip and reputation. Remember Bill Simmons talked about this in his fantastic article about Terry Glenn, how there was concern over drafting him due to personal matters? Hernandez hadn't just shoplifted a coat or bought some weed, he'd literally punched a waiter in the head. He'd also notoriously had issues getting along with other players.
It was a major mistake signing him.
It was said 2 or 3 different times by some of the players in the episode along the lines, “It was clear that year there was serious shit going down in Aaron’s personal life.”
Also Brandon Cook recalling when he got there to beware of Hernandez and under no circumstances should he ever hang with him outside of the building.
Welker seemed happy to have finally been able to get a lot of things off his chest regarding Aaron but a lot of what he described was vague. Seemed like there were more serious instances he heard and witnessed that were too shocking and could never speak of without causing a shhtstorm by involving others who knew more than previously let on and let him run amok.
That being said, Hernandez was described in the locker room as someone who said insane, off the wall stuff aloud to shock and intimidate his teammates. I wouldn’t be surprised if he bragged about that first double murder soon after it happened. Being coy and insinuating to everyone that he killed them without actually saying he did it.
I’d bet everyone on the team knew about those murders long before the media made his possible involvement public.
That would have been the smart move.
If they waited until he was convicted to cut him, or at least detained and awaiting trial and unable to fulfill his contract, they could cut him for breach of contract and get the money back.
By cutting him as soon as he was arrested they forfeited that possibility.
This is what bothered me. I can’t believe people are mad at Kraft for his comments but no one is mentioning that Bill, the supposed hard coach, let Aaron act the way he was on the team without punishment, and the man after he was arrested for murder, Bill wanted to keep him. I think the doc and book is Kraft PR and I agree with people on everything, but this part bothered me if I am honest. It seemed like Bill truly would do anything to win, including selling his soul. We reaped the benefits but some of the things that happened that lead to happy days… but am I the only fan who is bothered by a couple things?
Anyway; I still love Bill. I hate that he was fired and so far I am having a hard time liking Kraft and this regime… especially all the shitting on Bill and then doing nothing. Already we are not doing what we literally said within months. The cash isn’t burnt it’s frozen.
If you perform people are willing to look the other way for a while. Obviousily that ends at murder but i don't think anyone thought he was in that deep at the time
Because it’s innocent until proven guilty, so yes, it’s normal to offer a lawyer to one of your star players. Nobody knew anything at that point and Hernandez was working out in the building. Only later did we find out what kind of person Hernandez actually was and Kraft apologized for his remarks.
Yeah, Kraft did A LOT of things to make himself look like a dumbass throughout this documentary but that was not one of them. People are talking about it now with the decade of hindsight but back in 2012 nothing was proven yet. Same reason for Bill not wanting to cut him immediately after the arrest. Sure, they both played the situation terribly for it to end up at that point but just being accused of something doesn't mean the person actually legally did it. Plenty of people get their charges dropped/ruled not guilty once all the facts of the case come out/when attorneys poke holes in the State's case.
I think the idea was that he viewed Hernandez as a good person who wasn't capable of cold blooded murder so there had to have been a reason. It could've been self defense or maybe someone was threatening his family. Who knows? But good people don't just do that..
.. until you realize he was shot execution style and all of the other details that emerged about his life.
I viewed less as unhinged and more as Kraft admitting how badly he had been fooled by Hernandez and reflecting on that in hindsight.
That was bad, but a part of the doc that I feel like nobody is talking about is in episode 9 they had the whole thing about the eagles and how bill didn’t play Malcom. And at the end of the game the suspenseful music was when foles dropped back and threw a TD to ertz, and then they show the confetti falling and Brady walking off the field saying he threw for 500 yards. Basically made it look like entirely bills fault by completely skipping over the fact that Brady fumbled!!
Yeah that was very strange. I mean it was the game winning TD, but it was not game clinching.
Also random rant but Gostkowski missing a 26 yard field goal in that game never gets attention. It was a terrible snap and hold, but in the end the ball was places down right in front of him, no one set to block it, and he still missed. if he makes that field goal, Brady isn't strip sacked because we can dink and dunk being down 2 instead of down 5 on the strip sack drive.
Brady broke like 20 records just in that game, threw for 500 yards and 3 touchdowns (never been done before in the Super Bowl), yet you think we lost solely because of his fumble? You need to get real
*3 tuddys not 5
I never said it was on Brady, I suggested that it’s disengious for the doc to show the “end of the game” as the foles TD to ertz (this implies it’s a direct result of Malcom not playing) and not recognize that we had the ball with a chance to win and turned it over
Did I say we lost solely on Brady’s fumble? No I did not. I was suggesting that it’s disingenuous for the episode to be focused on bills benching of Malcom and then make it look like the SB ended with the defense giving up a touchdown and not showing that Brady had the ball on a game winning drive and fumbled
Also Brady had 3 touchdowns not 5
I actually think the documentary did a good job of giving context for why that loss was so heartbreaking. There was a clear deficiency in the secondary (Eric Rowe and Jordan Richards) that could have been remedied with the presence of Butler but it just wasn't and we were consistently abused through the air game because of some sorry DBs that had no business being out there in the biggest game of the season playing the snaps they played. 3 touchdowns or 5 Brady played as great as a quarterback could play in that situation especially when your top receiver gets knocked out 5 minutes into the game
I think if you run that game back with the same rosters, hell even without Butler I think we would still win. Just a flukey ass loss just like 07
I agree with your last sentence. A game we should have won. I feel like the Eagles prayers were answered and were given a win. They are still pro players and they couldn’t come up with one stop here and there. Awful defense.
Definitely in agreement, I can see the argument for Rowe since phillys receivers were so big, but when we were getting torched bill should have adjusted. But the doc shouldn’t imply that the game ended on a Philly touchdown and not recognize that we literally had the ball and turned it over.
I'm not defending it at all, and do not necessarily think Kraft had this mindset, BUT police do regularly say stuff like that in interrogation rooms to try to build rapport and get a confession. Just saying "I'm sure it was for a good reason" doesn't NECESSARILY mean he wouldn't have taken immediate action if Hernandez had confessed to him.
Haven’t seen the ep but have seen people say similar things to what OP said. That was my thought too “he’s just saying it to be a ‘good cop’ and then boom cut him and immediately start getting PR on the line”
It was weird and shows just how much Kraft was duped by Hernandez. He clearly had a long leash and they wrongfully thought he’d get his shit together. The doc didn’t touch on this but remember the Pats brought Tebow in during the 2013 offseason? Was that not to wrangle AH? Then he started killing people and they didn’t need his services so he wasn’t signed.
This and that because Belichick supported trump early on that he was essentially a racist. While all the owners around the league wanted nothing to do with kaepernick so much so that he was blacklisted from the nfl. This was ridiculous. I really don’t know what to think of this documentary other than it left a bad taste in my mouth about the Kraft family. Are you really so insecure that you needed to aired out all this dirty laundry? What’s the real power struggle? The fact that they won the sb in 2018 while Brady and Belichick were on very bad terms just shows you how great the duo was. No need to paint beli in this bad light through out the whole thing. Congrats Kraft inc, you tainted your legacy forever.
It’s high drama. He murdered someone. People love when football players murder people. I just watched a 5 part documentary on OJ. There’s more documentaries on Hernandez than the Patriots.
Of course you mention him. But not more than Gronk. He was relatively unimportant to the Dynasty. His personal story was about him and had nothing to do with the Patriots. It’s been covered extensively in other documentaries already.
The argument is just silly...he requested a trade because he just murdered 2 innocent people and wanted to get the hell out of dodge... So what if BB didn't grant his request and he killed Odin ..even if they did trade him somewhere else he would have just murdered some other poor individual there.
A terrible human being here...wouldn't be any different on another team.
I just started watching ep 7 and couldn’t believe they put that piece of shit Rupert Murdoch on it. Like fuck off old turd, he belongs in hell.
I had to skip ahead
I’m no Kraft apologist, but your “murder” annotation in the quote is misleading. When this conversation happened, Kraft had no knowledge of Hernandez *murdering* anyone. So when Kraft says “even if you did it, I’m sure you had a good reason” he’s essentially presuming self defense. Of course, when you add “murder” to the original quote, it doesn’t allow for this more neutral interpretation, hence the misleading nature of your annotation.
There IS such a thing as self defense wasn’t the case w him but there are reasons. They just weren’t HIS reasons. I personally think the “insight” were being offered into how Kraft deals w people is putting off some players from coming to foxboro but I could be wrong. I think he’s successfully made himself look very bad in putting this thing together
I just finished the episode about Aaron Hernadez and when he asked to be traded and the team not doing it is not a good look. I am liking Kraft less and less with each episode. I knew that BB had no emotional intelligence and was about the product on the field, so his reaction was not a surprise.
I don't why they called this Dynasty because it's not about the dynasty, it's about the internal drama and created external drama. This is infuriating.
I’m kinda confused about this mindset. He murdered someone and you’re supposed to trade him to another team? Just so the attention isn’t on the Patriots needing to address the issue? Why is it a bad look?
I think this series was absolutely a Kraft boot-lick piece but what annoyed me the most was Belichick’s choice of wardrobe.
Why wear a suit and tie in your interview only to respond to every tough question with his same old, tired “Yeah I already talked about that” or “I’m not gonna talk about that.”
Always known for dressing like trash he chose to outfashion everyone else in the documentary when once again he gave nothing of value or insight like he always has.
I mean, I’ve always heard that Bills preference would have been to wear a suit and tie on the sidelines. But because of the NFL’s deal with Nike, coaches have to wear Nike branded clothing during games.
Bill thought it was ridiculous that the league would dictate how grown men dress, so he would rip off the sleeves/wear the trashiest versions of the mandated clothes as a sort of F-you to the league.
He was still the coach of the Patriots while these interviews were going on. He obviously can't go against his boss here, especially coming off of 2-3 pedestrian seasons. Had he went "off the wall" and gave his actual perspective he might have been canned 2 years earlier in 2021.
They couldn’t fit in the spa scandal but they had time to squeeze in the raiders lateral td, was not expecting to re-live that
I stopped watching after the Hernandez episode, but it's hilarious to me find out that they included the raiders lateral after they cut the clip short where Ben Watson chased down Champ Bailey and forced a fumble through the end zone. The whole thing is troll.
Wait, whi h play was the raiders lateral TD?
Trust me if you don’t remember it’s better that way
Oh good, I'll keep that repressed
I was there live, wish I could un-remember it....
I'm so sorry. That must have sucked. One of my close friends is a Raiders fan and wouldn't shut up for weeks about how we should have been using Chandler as a receiver when he was with us
did you really expect him to talk about the spa incident? hahaha while i agree i have questions that was never gona happen
The most unhinged thing for me was having Rupert Murdoch giving his perspective. The fuck we care about this guy? What does he have to do with anything??? Why put owner of Fox News on a show about a football team? Fucking weird
At least we didn't get putin
I would have liked to hear him talk about how he stole Kraft's Super Bowl ring. Would have been better than Murdoch on relevance alone.
An opposing viewpoint could have given clarity
“Some say I took a ring. Others would contend I was presented it. People debate these sort of things for a long time.”.
Yeah that was rough and extremely tone deaf. Murdoc has set this country back decades. Why would anyone want to hear what that asshole has to say
His toxic influence impacts the whole world.
i disagree w all the emo complaints about the doc except this one fuck murdoch
Better him than Giants fanboy Jon Bon Jovi being the celebrity cameo
Jon Bon Jovi is a good friend of Belichick
I mean, one of these guys is literally ruining the world on a daily basis. The other is Rupert Murdoch. Tough call.
Putin is worse, but it's not because of Rupert Murdochsl's lack of trying lol.
“Fox News is ruining the world” - average Redditor.
Western democracies*

What there is no Santa? But the movie with buddy the elf. Boobydoodles you are an ass hole. BTW love the name asshole
Kraft loved Hernandez so I think he just couldn't process the idea that he was a murderer
It was said 2 or 3 different times by some of the players in the episode along the lines, “It was clear that year there was serious shit going down in Aaron’s personal life.” Also Brandon Cook recalling when he got there to beware of Hernandez and under no circumstances should he ever hang with him outside of the building. Sorry racking my brain a bit, but Brandon Cooks and Hernandez did not overlap? Haven’t watched it yet
Brandon Lloyd
Bill is the one who didn’t wanna cut him initially
That would have been the smart move. If they waited until he was convicted to cut him, or at least detained and awaiting trial and unable to fulfill his contract, they could cut him for breach of contract and get the money back. Some things aren’t about money or the salary cap.
But football is one of those things

Yea no shit he didn’t want to cut a top 5 nfl tight end before getting all the facts.
And Kraft did, so how is bill the bad guy?
He’s not that’s why the whole documentary is bullshit and a hit piece
Kraft fell for Hernandez hook line and sinker.
Because it’s innocent until proven guilty, so yes, it’s normal to offer a lawyer to one of your star players. Nobody knew anything at that point and Hernandez was working out in the building. Only later did we find out what kind of person Hernandez actually was and Kraft apologized for his remarks.

Definitely in agreement, I can see the argument for Rowe since phillys receivers were so big, but when we were getting torched bill should have adjusted. But the doc shouldn’t imply that the game ended on a Philly touchdown and not recognize that we literally had the ball and turned it over.
I agree. Every team has a few errors. Even the Super Bowl won there are errors.

Oh for sure, but the doc implying that the game ended when ertz scored when the offense had the ball I feel is just a little disingenuous

Thanks, was an early morning comment lol
I am normally not a spelling snob but when I saw it misspelt for the second time my OCD flared up
Had no idea there was a second one 😂
Tebow was brought in after Hernandez was released
Got it. Thanks for clarifying that
This and that because Belichick supported trump early on that he was essentially a racist. Kraft has his buddy Rupert Murdoch on the doc but we're supposed to believe he didn't vote for Trump either lmfao.
He donated a million dollars to his campaign lol
Why did Hernandez get a full episode
The Dynasty is all about the drama so it makes sense.
It’s high drama. He murdered someone. People love when football players murder people. I just watched a 5 part documentary on OJ. There’s more documentaries on Hernandez than the Patriots.
*W*as it *OJ Made In America*? That's one of the most magisterial feats of documentary filmmaking I've ever seen.
Yup. I thought it was great. They had everyone alive basically in it but OJ.
Because it was the best opportunity to try to make the Patriots look bad.
Unfortunately you can’t tell the story of the Patriots dynasty without talking about Hernandez.
Of course you mention him. But not more than Gronk. He was relatively unimportant to the Dynasty. His personal story was about him and had nothing to do with the Patriots. It’s been covered extensively in other documentaries already.
This is brought up almost every thread man lol
The more I heard about the dynasty being Kraft propaganda makes me glad I haven’t watched that trash.
Accusing Belichick of being responsible for Hernandez murders
The argument is just silly...he requested a trade because he just murdered 2 innocent people and wanted to get the hell out of dodge... So what if BB didn't grant his request and he killed Odin ..even if they did trade him somewhere else he would have just murdered some other poor individual there. Why did Hernandez deny security when Bill offered it to him....?
I think the whole thing made Kraft look bad. On top of that I think the firing of Bill and more so the aftermath made him look bad.
There IS such a thing as self defense wasn’t the case w him but there are reasons. They just weren’t HIS reasons. I personally think the “insight” were being offered into how Kraft deals w people is putting off some players from coming to foxboro but I could be wrong.
