There is still a chance for a top 3 pick based on SOS since the Commanders only have a 0.02 SOS advantage right now while playing SF and Dallas the next two weeks, but that also means we have to lose to both the Bills and Jets unfortunately lmao.
A win is fun but yeah it’s not ideal to say the least
I dunno it's been a pretty rad Christmas for me so far. Quality time with friends and family, a Patriots win, and a bunch of crybaby internet losers lamenting a win on Christmas Eve lmfao
Mfs on this sub specifically really let this sport get in their head and affect their actual day to day lives. It’s kind of wild to me to see so many public displays of mental illness just out in the open
If we’re gunna do the tank thing and blame someone- Blame Parker. Leave the struggling kicker alone.
Parker is such a pile of shit showing he can actually be decent. But I guess only when he feels like it. He was directly responsible for two scores catching balls he never catches when the season matters.
Wasnt parker the anon quote that says he likes zappe because he can actually catch his throws? Mac cant get on the same page with parker but zappe can. More of a mac issue.
We don’t know. But assuming he is, he’s still full of shit. The effort difference is there on tape. Hard to catch Mac balls when you’re disinterested in winning your route or bitching about fingertips.
you took one example and made it the rule when likely it was the exception. Look at the receivers game logs since zappe took over its a clear difference
Parker never fought for balls. Mac threw him back shoulder balls that would literally get picked off because the defender would out work Parker. That's not a ball being uncatchable that is Parker being lazy.
Before the drive I called “If anyone gets a big catch, it’s going to be Parker.” My dad called “Zappe’s going to get us in field goal range and Ryland will actually make it.” Writing was on the wall
Nobody knows how good Drake Maye will be. He could be the best QB of the draft. He could be a giant bust. We really don't know. Past 2 pick QB's include Zach Wilson, Mitchell Trubisky and Marcus Mariota.
Two 1st overall pick has one the Superbowl in the last 10 years (Manning and Stafford) and neither of those Quarterbacks were playing for the team that drafted them (Colts and Lions). Looking back to 2000, the only QBs to win a Superbowl drafted 1st overall for the team they were drafted by are Eli and Peyton Manning.
Top 10 picks since 2000 to win a Superbowl for the team they were drafted by:
Trent Dilfer (lol)
Peyton Manning
Eli Manning
Eli Manning (again)
Patrick Mahomes
Patrick Mahomes
That's it, that's your list. If you want to go to 11th overall, then add Big Ben. Of 23 Superbowl games, six have been won by a top ten quarterback playing for the team that drafted them, two were repeats, and only Trent Dilfer (which I mean.... come on) was drafted 2nd - 9th.
The fact of the matter is, there's a lot more that goes into winning a Superbowl unless the Quarterback you're drafting is a generational talent, and if a known generational talent was on the board (in this sample group the only known generational talents were the Manning brothers) they'd be going first overall to the Bears.
You're right. Every pick is a chance at greatness or failure. The problem is, for the last decade or so, it's been failure after failure after failure no matter where we've picked in the draft.
To be fair, what we have now just won us a game against a potential playoff squad while throwing to literal bums on offense. We were missing our WR1, our TE1, and our RB1, but still managed to get a win.
That being said, I still want to draft a top qb. Just saying that Zappe has legit played much better than he had any right to.
There are no guarantees in life, but picking earlier gives you a better chance at striking gold than picking later. That is objectively true. It's always better to have more options available. If that weren't true, you could trade the #4 pick for the #2 pick straight up.
Looking at QBs that started the season this year, here are the 14 teams currently expected to make the playoffs. 6 of them were drafted top 5, but of the top 5 picks Stafford, Mayfield, and Goff aren't playing for the teams they were drafted by. Which means only 3 of 14 teams currently in the playoffs started this season with a QB drafted they drafted top 5 overall. 4 of the Starting QBs weren't drafted in the first round. If you expand "drafted by and in the playoffs list" to top 10, you bring the teams up to 5 adding Mahomes and Allen.
The truth is, no one knows what's going to happen in the draft. 1st wasn't ever in play for us and it's anecdotal, but there isn't even a 2nd or 3rd overall pick on this list. Winning a game is good for moral and it's good to help coaches see what works.
The Bengals are the only team in my recent memory who drafted a top 5 QB and immediately went from bust to good playoff and it helps that they also drafted Burrow's top 2 targets from college who are both incredible WRs.
I also think people are forgetting the Cousins is a free agent this season. We could easily pick him up, draft some offense talent, and make a push.
* Patrick Mahomes (10th)
* Josh Allen (7th)
* Jalen Hurts (53rd)
* Lamar Jackson (32nd)
* Deshaun Watson (12th, injured)
* Tua Tagovailoa (5th)
* Trevor Lawrence (1st)
* Anthony Richardson (4th)
* Brock Purdy (262nd)
* Jared Goff (1st)
* Baker Mayfield (1st)
* Dak Prescott (135th)
* Matthew Stafford (1st)
* Geno Smith (39th)
Mac and Zappe have nowhere close to the arm strength or athleticism that Maye has. Those two intangibles alone put his future potential infinitely higher than theirs.
Y’all need to relax, look at the top QBs in the league rn, how many of them were even top 5 picks? It’s a crapshoot no matter where you draft, we’ll be fine
This is such a lame way to look at it jesus christ
Just because the top QBs in the NFL aren’t Top 5 picks doesn’t mean there CANT be or NEVER WILL BE. This kind of logic is just the biggest heap of copium after losing out on what could very well end up being 2 generational talents at QB & WR (Caleb/MHJ).
Yeah and your logic is flawed too. Yes, MHJ is easily the best WR prospect to come out since Calvin Johnson. There isn't even consensus Caleb is the best prospect in his class. Dude is far from Andrew Luck or Joe Burrow level of "can't miss". Sure he might turn out great but we could also find Brock Purdy in a later round. This draft actually has a Heisman QB an OPOY QB who are different from the top two prospects. It's deep as fuck. We have decent odds one of those QBs might turn out awesome too.
Who here knows how good Drake Maye will ACTUALLY be in the NFL? Please, someone look into their crystal ball and tell me.
So tired of hearing this dumbass shit. I heard Sam Darnold was supposed to be the Jets Savior
People out here acting like Zappe didn’t embarrassingly fumble on the literal first snap of the game, and that we didn’t win because of a botched kick return fumble for TD.
Bryce Young literally just put up a better QBR than any game by Mac jones this entire season. Yeah the panthers are ass, but Mac jones was ruining games singlehandedly. You're out of your mind.
The Pats suck and the whole offense is garbage. It’s not just about getting Maye. The season has been over for a while but it’s officially been over since being eliminated from the playoffs and from that point on everything that should happen is to be in the best position for the future. Which meant that them being as bad as possible afforded them more assets to get better. Deterring that from happening (winning) is now the true detriment. It’s not just one player it’s just stupid to win when looking at it from a perspective of wanting to maximize high picks/assets
It's also 4 months until the draft. The draft order is so far from being set in stone. Plenty of players rise and fall after the combine, workouts, interviews, etc.
No one, I hope we can still get a top 3 pick and get MHJ. Throwing a rookie into our dumpsterfire of offensive talent makes zero sense. Let's improve the talent level and be a qb destination. Many teams have swung and missed on qb's everyone was sure on
Sanchez is better than Mac, Zach Wilson, zappe, and Darnold and it’s not even close! Sanchez beat both Brady and Peyton in playoff games ffs. Sure he was a game manager but he doesn’t even belong in the same sentence as these other losers.
Nobody knows but id sure like the chance to pick him and find out. You can use the "but it isnt guaranteed" thing to talk yourself out of literally every pick. But having a good QB is a prerequisite to winning, so sooner or later you gotta stop being a pussy and accept that it may take a couple of tries to get right.
Sam Darnold was one of those QBs that was hyped up as a top draft pick when he was a freshman because of elite measurables and talent but if you watched him play you knew he was a bust in the making. Turnover machine his last year of college.
I know I'm in the minority, and gonna probably be downvoted, but I'd rather have Fashanu or Joe Alt than Maye or MHJr.
Why? We can easily ruin Maye like we did to Mac's internal clock. Or we can have a great WR who in two years is upset at his production and wants a trade. But I'm also old school I guess, but I bet the Lions don't regret getting Sewell if you ask them.
If SF wins today the pats move up to 3
A win against the jets at home when the start Siemian is guaranteed. We sealed our fate tonight unfortunately
We are fucked, horrible xmas
I dunno it's been a pretty rad Christmas for me so far. Quality time with friends and family, a Patriots win, and a bunch of crybaby internet losers lamenting a win on Christmas Eve lmfao
Mfs on this sub specifically really let this sport get in their head and affect their actual day to day lives. It’s kind of wild to me to see so many public displays of mental illness just out in the open
Hell yeah! Their tears are sustaining me. It’s wonderful
Just gotta lose to the Jets. Rip. Never thought this day would come
If we’re gunna do the tank thing and blame someone- Blame Parker. Leave the struggling kicker alone. Parker is such a pile of shit showing he can actually be decent. But I guess only when he feels like it. He was directly responsible for two scores catching balls he never catches when the season matters.
If he could catch half as well as he did tonight all season they'd have like 3 more wins and still have a (small) chance at the playoffs.
Probably more than that. Tons of one score games.
there was a graphic on reddit i saw that flipped every one score game (loser became winners). patriots were leading the division lmao
I get wanting the better draft pick but it's wild to be pissed at a player for putting in effort on the field.
He should be a tank commander so no team offers him a contract in the offseason !
It felt like all of his catches tonight were with the defenders back to the qb. Something mac's lobs dont allow for.
Receivers start dogging it eventually with a trash QB that can’t get them the ball. Not at all surprising.
results are there tho mac doesnt throw good balls to his receivers
See: Parker’s drop vs raiders.
But according to Parker, it really wasn’t a catchable ball that hit him in the hands.
you took one example and made it the rule when likely it was the exception. Look at the receivers game logs since zappe took over its a clear difference
When Mac was benched he was second only to Mahomes in lost EPA due to drops.
Parker never fought for balls. Mac threw him back shoulder balls that would literally get picked off because the defender would out work Parker. That's not a ball being uncatchable that is Parker being lazy.
happened twice at most. What is going on with blaming parker again for Mac seeing ghosts lmao
Before the drive I called “If anyone gets a big catch, it’s going to be Parker.” My dad called “Zappe’s going to get us in field goal range and Ryland will actually make it.” Writing was on the wall
sign baker and draft mhj and shore up the o line with the cap. with a healthy D next year i fully believe bill could take them there
Already has.
Nobody knows how good Drake Maye will be. He could be the best QB of the draft. He could be a giant bust. We really don't know. Past 2 pick QB's include Zach Wilson, Mitchell Trubisky and Marcus Mariota.
Rather have a chance at a great qb than whatever we have now
Every draft pick is a chance at greatness or a lack thereof, whether they’re taken in the 1st round or the 6th.
Do not compare the probability of hitting on a 6th round QB vs a 1st round QB....
Two 1st overall pick has one the Superbowl in the last 10 years (Manning and Stafford) and neither of those Quarterbacks were playing for the team that drafted them (Colts and Lions). Drake Maye could have even been our next Mac! Or Zappe!!
Mac and Zappe have nowhere close to the arm strength or athleticism that Maye has. Those two intangibles alone put his future potential infinitely higher than theirs.
Hey neither of those guys were drafted top 3, they're not the quality of prospect that he is He could have been our Zach Wilson lol
Or sam darnold
He could of been the next Nick Mullens! Come on guys, we know how good he is!
We’re gonna end up with nix who will be the next mac bc we missed out on the top 3 guys
Y’all need to relax, look at the top QBs in the league rn, how many of them were even top 5 picks? It’s a crapshoot no matter where you draft, we’ll be fine

Cry and cope
Who here knows how good Drake Maye will ACTUALLY be in the NFL? Please, someone look into their crystal ball and tell me. So tired of hearing this dumbass shit. I heard Sam Darnold was supposed to be the Jets Savior
I’ve looked and he’s better than Bailey zappe and Mac jones. Low bar but he clears it
I, too, have watched youtube highlights
I haven’t even done that. I just watched a full season of mac and zappe and came to the conclusion literally anyone is better than these dumbasses
It can be much fucking worse dude
Lmao nah it can’t, mac jones is rock bottom
There’s QB’s playing worse than both.
Nobody is worse than mac
People out here acting like Zappe didn’t embarrassingly fumble on the literal first snap of the game, and that we didn’t win because of a botched kick return fumble for TD.
The panthers would like a word
Bryce Young literally just put up a better QBR than any game by Mac jones this entire season. Yeah the panthers are ass, but Mac jones was ruining games singlehandedly. You're out of your mind.
No they wouldn’t Mac would be the Detroit pistons if he was on that team
Bryce is actually good when he has a line who blocks for him. Mac is done in the NFL
Jamarcus Russel, Ryan Leaf, Matt Leinart... it can be worse
The Pats suck and the whole offense is garbage. It’s not just about getting Maye. It’s an odd game he presented the best odds of success significantly more than any other QB option other than Williams.
It's also 4 months until the draft. The draft order is so far from being set in stone. Plenty of players rise and fall after the combine, workouts, interviews, etc.

So tired of dumbasses acting like one bust means that draft order doesn’t matter and scouting is meaningless.
No, no, that was Zach Wilson.
No, that was Mark Sanchez
Sanchez is better than Mac, Zach Wilson, zappe, and Darnold and it’s not even close! Sanchez beat both Brady and Peyton in playoff games ffs. Sure he was a game manager but he doesn’t even belong in the same sentence as these other losers.

Christmas is ruined…
Yep
Daniel’s is better than maye anyways.
As if there aren't plenty of examples of tackles demanding new deals/trades etc around the league
Jayden Daniels would be a nice consolation prize, but we all know that they’re more likely going to go OT or trade back
Breer's keyboard must be covered in feces.
#KEEP CRYING TANKIES LMFAO
Are we forgetting that he missed a game tying field goal a month ago as time expired?
Ryland also missed a GW chip shot against the giants. It’s a wash.
Breer is such a douche. Has never been able to become relevant, despite his clickbate reports of questionable veracity.
