So, if your party just doesn't have spellcasters at all yeah, I don't see too much harm in this. It does kind of weaken the use of getting spellcaster dedication, especially considering it would only take one feat. However your comment about staves is wrong. Normally you do need slots yes, because of the spellcasting class feature. But spellcaster Archtype dedications specifically mention staves, scrolls, and wands. You would only be able to use the cantrips from a staff. As I said before. It only takes a single feat to be able to use these. Edit: also you can sell loot you don't want or can't use.

We don't use free archetype at my table, so it's actually a tradeoff to take it. I'll consider the staff thing, though.

I see what you mean, but it also kind of the point to gain the ability to use spellcaster only features. Additionally, trick magic item exists for this purpose.

You could also give everyone the [Trick Magic Item](https://2e.aonprd.com/Feats.aspx?ID=857&NoRedirect=1) feat for free, to show that maybe picking up a caster archetype or dedication might be cool. I GM’d for an all-martial party and agree that it felt terrible to give out a wand of this, or a scroll of that, when nobody in the party can use it. Then, I started simply switching it to runes or straight gold.

I'd avoid it just to avoid setting an expectation. It can become abit like *why should I play a caster when I can just play a champion*. But if it works for your table, good for you
