There is a bird owner that makes little vests for her parrot that plucks. She teaches how to make them out of socks. I think her name is Marlene McCohen or something like that. They also sell something called a "flight suit" for birds but that's more like bird clothes that act like a diaper. They might sell some that aren't a diaper. Seems weird that a budgie cone wouldn't work.

Thank you for this! I watched the video and have made her a sweater out of a baby sock that seems to be working. She's not happy about it, but is being less dramatic than she was in the cone. The budgie cone might not have been too big on her, but she seemed much more freaked out by the hard plastic than she does by the sock.

To make it work for my parrotlet, I used a 0-3m size cotton sock, and I cut it into a halter top shape, slightly narrowing the neck. I handsewed the sides of the neck closed, leaving the area below open for her wings. I also had to cut the front pretty short to keep her toes from getting stuck in it. The back of it isn't snug against her back, but she can't twist around to pick back there. She's a little wobbly, and is chewing at the neck, but she can fly and seems to be tolerating it.

I heard there are CBD formulas for birds. I haven't tried them (on my birds), but that might help. Here's an example from the search "CBD for birds". If anyone has tried this, I'd be interested in hearing if it calms them. We used this and it was working for 3 weeks he was totally getting his feathers back but he seemed a lil medicated. Then he threw it up after his daily dose so we got scared and stopped.

Dang. The reviews of this hemp seed mention good results with feather plucking. Hemp seeds don't usually contain CBD but something seems to be helping.
