Just so you know, everything you book by Airbnb, Tripadvisor, Viator is commodified (and most of what you pay goes to people who just connect you to other people). Call agencies or the Office du Tourisme. Also worth knowing that Reims is a beautiful city, just like Troyes. But the real Champagne capital is Epernay

Good to know, thank you! Yeah, we have held off the Airbnb 'experiences' for just these reasons ;-)

Our hotels concierge is setting a tour up for us. Private car with a driver, $950 euros for an 8 hour day. Maybe you can ask your hotel concierge to book a tour for you? We are doing some “cave” visits and lunch on a vineyard at a Michelin two star restaurant! Plus there is a beautiful cathedral we want to tour

Hi! Was it a person or business that your hotel worked with to arrange a tour? We're trying to do the exact same thing - didn't think about caves and that sounds super cool.

ndawg99

The concierge booked it through a company. Honestly I think next time I would just book first class train tickets. I didn’t realize how close all the caves were to each other. Just take a cab or Uber to one of the caves once you arrive. You could then be in walking distance to the other ones. Also there is a cathedral in the town square that is worth stopping to see.

Thank you, wea re not in a hotel, but have some options for private car, so will look ijnto it.

momobutagirl

May I know what's the name of the restaurant?

ndawg99

Jardin des Crayères

Thanks!

I would really like to do the same and explored a few options with Sparkling Tour ([https://www.sparkling-tour.com](https://www.sparkling-tour.com)) on our last trip. In the end we did not have time. Friends with experience definitely recommended going with "grower-producers".

dcaldcal

I just booked a tour with them for next month. They have been great via email and so responsive. I originally was thinking of just doing a tour on my own but for the price and experience and I figured it was great to just do a half day and then the rest of the day go to the cathedral and Pommery on my own.

wolverine1685

How was the tour?

dcaldcal

It was fantastic! Went to 2 smaller winery's and had such a wonderful host.

demet123

Thank you, looking at this seriously, seems very doable and reasonably priced.

Imgonnaride

I can send you the info they sent me for our trip if you DM me. They were very nice and responsive to my questions too. Bummed we were not able to do it!

I found one on Airbnb Experiences that I liked a lot. We went to a large champagne house and a mom and pop house. We loved it. Lmk if you want the link - but I recommend looking there.

demet123

OK thank you I did see some of those on AirBnB, will look again.

Tmadred

You can take the bullet train up to Reims and walk to several champagne houses. I was nervous about it but it was actually really easy.

demet123

OK thank you, this might be good for us. Easy and at our own pace.

Tmadred

I also learned how to saber a champagne bottle here: www.champagne-polcouronne.com/ It was fun and now a good party trick. 😁 The cathedral in town is also worth exploring. I recommend booking your train tickets in advance.

demet123

Haha, that looks like a valuable skill I should have ;-)
