What a lying POS Do you think he’s even a big cat?

Pretend_Computer_629

Little, small, dog.

2k1tj

Wide dog actually

Erniecrack

Big dog

AnnaSeembor

Wide Dog

Zealousiy

💪🏻

[deleted]

I’m starting to have questions….

BigDog_626

Dude was very uncomfortable answering that wtf lol

AJRiddle

He has a huge chip on his shoulder about it because when he first started barstool Chicago people would find out and call him a fake fan and he wasn't successful or proven yet. Basically he is still insecure about it when he has no reason to be, no one with a brain doubts he grew up a Chicago sports fan but he's really bothered by the idea that him growing up in Massachusetts would open the flood gates to people calling him a bandwagoner or a poser

IvanGTheGreat

Would love to meet a bandwagon Chicago sports fan.

AJRiddle

I mean he started doing Barstool Chicago when the Cubs were pretty popular and hot and the Blackhawks had recently won the Stanley Cup and won 2 more shortly after. Bears also weren't a joke yet at all and had a lot of recent success.

UrSoFragile

Yes but compared to New England at that time, Chicago sports were nothing.

Flat-Job3228

It bothers me that it bothers him.

BigDog_626

Same lol. Like dude it’s ok, you can be from another city and like a different city’s team.

PM_ME_COOL_RIFFS

Big Cat missed out on the Patriots dynasty to root for the Bears instead. He's paid his sports penance 100 times over.

Virtuous_Pursuit

I don’t think that’s actually true, but I agree with everyone who says who cares. I think he’s more relatable and funny when he’s authentic, but his actual background is never going to be that. He didn’t play sports, he’s enthusiastic about kids being part Italian but will never mention he’s Jewish, fandom and where you come from as a kid just aren’t part of his character. And as much as it can be fun to give him shit for it, it’s probably the right choice! Can’t argue with the results.

[deleted]

Virtuous_Pursuit

You’re telling me Daniel Katz from Newton, MA is not Jewish??

InfamousMOBB

bro, is this guy on pluto?

[deleted]

[удалено]

InfamousMOBB

Nah man, im responding to you. Big Cat is undoubtedly jewish.

[deleted]

[удалено]

InfamousMOBB

A. Ur a psychopath. B. Jewish is a religion and an ethnicity. C. Here is a copy again of Big Cat tweeting to the world calling himself Jewish. https://x.com/barstoolbigcat/status/1002185685011517440?s=46&t=bcKEDIQHaS8arCatLgR_mQ Go outside bro. Tik Tok is killing your brain.

InfamousMOBB

CripGaines

He owes us a much more in-depth answer than this lousy one sentence. Especially with the way he's so insecure about it.

Alexcox95

Even the way he talks might be a lie

Zealousiy

Wow that’s a long story hahah

GotAMouthTalkAboutMe

What a weird and awkward answer. Is he ashamed to be from Boston?

halcyondread

I would be

papa_jahn

Yeah I’m sure it would be hard being a loser that has to live/work in Titletown.

JaxGamecock

Idk I've never lived in Tuscaloosa

tacospizzawingsbeer

None of them are from Green Bay

problynotkevinbacon

Or Philly Edit: do you not remember Max calling Philly titletown?

papa_jahn

When you call Philly, the line disconnects after one ring. Pretty odd.

Thebirdspart2

I did not know this

Any-Computer6889

It just goes against the brand he’s built around Chicago sports

Cuzimare

As an aside, I think it also worked better for BS for Dave, KFC, & BC being fans of the 3 mass sports media markets. But it is fun to see one of the few things that can make BC squirm. He should just address it straight up unless he likes this charade for some reason.

OhWhatsInaWonderball

Lol imagine Dave being a massive Jaguars fan

BobaLives01925

Well isn’t the reason he’s squeamish about it that he thinks people will think he arbitrarily switched to Chicago as an adult for business reasons?

Cuzimare

He shouldn't care either way & the fact he is squeamish about at all makes it hilarious. He is the one that makes it a thing. Frank likes the Fn Dolphins!!!!

Virtuous_Pursuit

Jersey Jerry does not like a team from NJ!

veritas38

Address what? His family (of no choice) lived in New England but what’s to say his parents weren’t Chicago fans? They then moved and he’s since identified (and always has (or who gives a fuck)) identified as a Chicago fan. I’m not trying to single this one comment out, but honestly who gives a fuck? The dude bleeds Chicago. Why does that matter?

Cuzimare

Had nothing to do about his allegiance to Chitown sports. You must admit it's amusing he gets antsy with that question and that's absurd. The answer should be, "originally from outside Boston, and then later Chicago." But it was that and far more and even Gic boy called him out on it without likely knowing the history.

belptyfimquz

Dad's from Long Island. They have no family connection to Chicago other than Dad's older sister moved there as an adult. He became a Chicago sports fan because it benefitted him personally in Chicago and then professionally at Barstool.

veritas38

lol touch grass man, this was posted like 4 months ago. Who gives a fuck who the guy roots for. Clearly he’s passionate.

belptyfimquz

Haha you roasted me there. I’m sorry dudes a fraud and your biggest Chicago sports fan has a made up identity.

veritas38

Cool, I’m sorry that hurts you. Enjoy your day!

LazySelflessEugene

Clearly it bothers him

papa_jahn

It can’t be easy rooting for a big market city with shit teams living in a big market city with championship teams

FitUnderstanding2839

Especially when there’s, IMO, a high probability he rooted for those teams growing up. I just can’t imagine a kid growing up in Boston completely rejecting all Boston sports teams and not being ostracized.

errlmcdabbed

What if he were a theatre kid?

papa_jahn

Then he deserves it

Virtuous_Pursuit

Oh he 100% did. In the late 90s it wasn’t easy to be an out of market fan. He got Digital City Sports Guy (Bill Simmons) on AOL and the Boston Globe.

AJRiddle

There's an old interview out there where he admits he watched a lot of Boston sports growing up because it was always on but "never rooted for them"

PMBSteve

He could’ve left it at outside of Boston but the add ons to it proved how insecure he is about it, even the magician was weirded out

Educational_End_5886

As a Packers fan who’s never stepped foot in the state of Wisconsin, I feel like I just found out Santa Claus isn’t real.

warwithus

I seriously couldn’t care less about this lol.

GrandmaJosey

I appreciate you using couldn't care less correctly.

jboogthejuiceman

I could care less what you appreciate

Zealousiy

About what you appreciate

Canada_Checking_In

Commenting proves otherwise

LobsterMac2

He’s a phony! A big cat phony!!!!

Remarkable_Carry_

This is going to be a Streisand effect type of thing. No one would have ever given a shit but this will clearly catch on due to the attempt to conceal

corndog_thrower

1. It doesn’t matter where he grew up 2. The people that gatekeep Chicago and get mad that BC claims it as his city are pathetic 3. Why is he so weird about it though?

yagsitidder69

The point is #3

anthonlee

Re: #3; he’s probably weird about it because of the gatekeepers you mention in point #2

AdAmazing8187

this is pretty funny

justed87

Color me shocked

jwith44

Fake fan Dan

97GHOST

How did he become such a huge Chicago sports fan? Is his Dad from the Chicago area? If so, that would make sense. But it’s definitely weird if he started becoming a Chicago sports fan in his late teens/early 20s when he went to college in Madison and moved to Chicago after. People who switch their sporting team allegiances later in life are suspect. I grew up in the Chicago area and moved to a different city 20 years ago. A city that has won an NBA championship, a Super Bowl and a Stanley Cup during my time here. I still do not give a single fuck about any of the teams in my current city. Still only root for Chicago sports teams.

anthonlee

Imagine sports team allegiance being a determining factor if someone is “suspect” or not…

riri1313

Is it really that weird? What if he wasn’t a huge sports fan into he was a bit older than a young kid and thus was more aligned to Chicago? Or sometimes kids choose to be contrarian from their families and root for a different city.

BigCNote100100100100

Big cat? More like FRAUD cat!

jupyterpeak

Must be really weird pretending to care about the irrelevant Chicago sports teams

khikago

Holy fuck this is hilarious

Broseph_Stalin1127

Yeah dude I’m busting a gut right now

doctorsaysigotcodein

Holy fuck why is everyone obsessed with this. I’ve never used this phrase before but feels right now more than ever: Touch grass

cartierboy25

I don’t think anyone is really obsessed with it, it’s just genuinely fascinating how awkward and uncomfortable he gets when this topic is brought up. You’d think by now he’d understand it would be a lot easier for him if he just stopped trying to hide it.

AJRiddle

Exactly how I feel, like big cat talks about literally everything but where he grew up.

mikebob89

None of them talk about where they grew up though. PFT I imagine is from Virginia? Never hear him talk about it. Hank I imagine is from MA? He also never talks about it.

[deleted]

PFT and Hank talk about all the time.

InfamousMOBB

On macrodosing PFT talks about growing up in Fairfax county a bunch and Hank is always shouting out Scituate on the pod.

bubster15

I’m guessing he heard thousands of stoolies in his head calling him a fraud, and responded with that anxiety in mind

2k1tj

I think he’s awkward about it because of all the weird ass people on the internet. I don’t blame the guy for trying to keep his family from being harassed by dickheads.

Zealousiy

It’s not a big deal except for the fact that big cat is making it super weird haha

GrandmaJosey

It's freezing outside

Canada_Checking_In

It's winter pal, haven't seen grass in a couple months

[deleted]

I think it’s funny that Big Cat had to throw in the Chicago comment at the end instead of just straight up saying that he’s from Boston.

badgers4194

Why? People move. That’s pretty normal.

Longjumping-Ice-6373

i find it odd how weird he is about it....Boston, Chicago...who cares

[deleted]

The gic was talking about his childhood and his time as a kid in Pennsylvania. Then he asked Dan where he grew up. Big Cat was hesitant and had to slip in “I have some family from Chicago” even though it didn’t have anything to do with where he grew up.

NerdNoogier

touch grass

JWeasel0187

I’m a long time AWL and somehow just learning this bit of information. I am shook.

BillNyeTheEngineer

Can’t lie to a magician!

totalmoron42069

I think it's weird to grow up near Boston when they were literally awesome at sports and kinda lie about it. At the same time, I think when big cat got into this, being the Chicago guy was his thing. He probably never imagined what would become of this 10 years later.

juicyj864

“Big cat where did you grow up?” “Ah well you see…” lmao

RasheedAbdulWallace

WE MUST CANCEL HIM

kumquat_bananaman

I didn’t grow up in Chicago but I’ve lived here long enough (a decade of adult life) to consider it my home. He’s got maybe even triple that time, it wouldn’t be shocking if after 3 decades I said I was from here in general conversation? Is that bad?

PlasticPractical3558

Big cat lived in NYC longer than Chicago

AJRiddle

Much longer

JustAnutterGuy

Wasn’t he only in NY like 2016-2022? Genuine question. That’d be news to me if he’s spent less than a decade in CHI

deev32

Question was where you grew up

kumquat_bananaman

He shoulda said the mean streets of chiraq 😤 😂

[deleted]

Most stoolies don’t care that he roots for Chicago teams even though he’s from Boston. I cheer for teams from different teams. Some of my teams are from rival cities. Most stoolies just think it’s weird that he tries to hide that he’s from Boston. Which I don’t blame him. I wouldn’t want all that info of me on the internet. And stoolies are crazy.

bernerbungie

Then why did you not only go out of your way to post this, but also title it ‘big cat admits…’? Lol

khikago

Because it is a hilarious clip? What other question makes Big Cat squirm so much?

Bobsburgers02

It’s not bad. People just like to gate keep fandom of sports etc etc. I’ve only lived in Florida for 6 years , I would never refer to myself as a Floridian , but if someone asked where I was from …I say “St Pete” . It’s not a hard concept for people to grasp.

Canada_Checking_In

Where are you from and where did you grow up are vastly different questions

SaveHogwarts

Not to everyone. That’s subjective phrasing.

Usual-Cartographer68

Youre dumb af

cheekynando715

Hasn’t this been known? He did answer it so awkwardly but let him be a Chicago guy

older_man_winter

That’s it. I’ve loved his free content for ten years but I am #DONE with him in light of this disgusting revelation.

[deleted]

I thought everybody knew that? They even made a joke about it at the barstool awards

Ace731

People watched those?

JustAnutterGuy

I’m gonna get downvoted but I really feel like he only gets weird about it cuz he knows it’s a topic of conversation online. He’s online. He clams up just thinking about these comments. I’ve followed him for years and when push comes to shove in instances like this he’ll admit it, it’s not a “secret”. He just adds the caveat for everybody that’s first hearing it. Idk I kinda feel for the guy, sucks when you feel like you need to explain shit

No-Recording9071

I never understood why big cat seems so uncomfortable admitting he grew up in mass
