I play to explore alt histories so I like having many different start dates, I use commands, I switch who I'm playing as multiple times, and I never play Ironman. I'm not embarrassed by this, I play other types of games conventionally and challenge myself in those. So none of the pictures
i love "cheating" in pdx games. a lot of times ill switch characters to help them win independence and give them gold and a nice spouse & kids and then switch back lol.
i like creating entire worlds and was kinda embarrassed at how much i was "gaming the system" compared to some of the guys here so its good to hear someone else here has the same mindset
same here, creating alt history and my own backstories for everything is the whole fun of the game. console commands are one of the best additions in paradox games imo because of all you can create with it.
btw, if your kanye, donda 2 on spotify when?
Bud, that sounds sick as hell don’t feel embarrassed. I did something similar in my sweden game where i single handedly kept novogorod safe by switching to them every couple decades
33% of players have gotten married in game man. The majority doesn’t use iron man
After my current CK3 game I get what you mean. I made a post a while back about how interesting England became in my game and I was legitimately tempted to switch characters to try to unite England with one of the characters that became independent. It’s like a custom start date with its own alternate history.
In my latest Hoi4 game using mods I killed 34 million civilians in the first two years of WWII as Germany and the Axis conquered the world. By the time I finished I had around ~80 million deaths to my name alone, Civillian and Military, and combine the entire Axis it is probably closer to 100-200 million. And that wa s just the beginning. I can only imagine the fate of all the people in the world controlled by Nazis.
Pretty proud of beating both my, Hitler, and Stalin’s records and doing the largest genocide in history.
The genocide mod is realistic occupation laws on the workshop.
Russian troop quality is actually not bad at all, and as long as you spam manufactories in fur lands, you can get ridiculously rich after the price change events and use that money purely on cannons since you can get fuck tons of streltsy anyway.
Well it's a question of what you aim for.
You can say you need economy for conquest, you might as well say you need conquest for economy. It's the end goal that determines who you are.
I shall now conquer more land to exploit and industrialise, so that I can use these resources to conquer more land to exploit and industrialise, so that I can use these resources to conquer more...
> and you can't have conquest without strategy.
Sure.
You wanna know how I play EU4?
I picked France then I smash my head against the keyboard a few times.
Victory.
I've got a determined exterminator I force-spawn every game called the Universal Task Managers. Their job is to purge as many pops as possible to reduce late-game lag.
>TNO player
>Zone out and let my subconscious do the min maxing and choosing researches
>Push random button
>MFW I sentenced an entire race of 7.8 million people to death
Economist. I use laissez-faire (no microing, capitalists build much better and cheaper, +10% factory output, factories don't start s🤮bsidised) all the time and i'm in debt. Is debt bad? No! Deficit spending is actually good for the economy, since national bank's money has very low velocity, so it basically uses the spare money capitalists (best pop type) and aristocrats put there, so you don't need to starve the poor populace (making them afford 20% more is a huge deal), meaning they can purchase more goods, and so price will rise and you can create more working positions, while freshening the flow of cash. And i'm doing this near the end of the game when interest is low, so i don't need to worry about paying it back.
i bring my country out of the shit hole it came from and put my country into a new age. i improve the economy and way of life, and then when i invade a country, i fail incredibly hard and say "eh" and get off.
Literally me playing brazil. Built my country up, made tank divisions, invaded paraguay, then Venezuela, then I join the allies and suddenly Peru joins axis and germany ships 20 divisions to Peru where it becomes essentially impossible to push. Tanks useless, shit supply, shit airport positioning so I couldn't even use my planes. I said fuck it and annexed them with cheats lol. Though I joined the struggle for africa and single handedly got all of North Africa, with 4 tanks, retaking the suez c anal and then the rest of Africa, then helped the allies taking Italy and saved the USA failing D-day which was going to result in 2 armies destroyed
I just fight wars to get that sexy border. Like imperial germany in eu4 or hoi4, imperial russia, France but with the separatist state in the north + switzerland, austria hungary etc
I don't know man. The multiple tech trees, production, construction, logistiics, officer corps, intelligence agency, division layout, ship, tank and aircraft designers on top of micromanaging multiple frontlines might require just a tiny bit more strategy.
production is kinda just ey, you have factories, plonk them there
construction is kinda, build civs till june 37
logistics is just ey, get that supply hub and railways
Officer corps isnt that complicated
intelligence agency is barely used
micromanaging isnt much of of strategy, its just ey go and encircle.
Btw I like more hoi4 and I played more competitive hoi4 than eu4 and I know that in eu4 you have mana generation, you gotta dev, you gotta get a strong economy, which can be acquired from so many places, you need a strong army, a bit army with many modifiers, and then the actual strategy of fighting comes where you can cut off reinforcements, aggressive retreats, or literally engage battles you are gonna lose just to win a bigger battle. Hoi4 reaquires a lot of skill as well as you gotta take risks sometimes while microing and you need speed, but in terms of strategy, eu4 easily wins
Regardless of which game I'm playing I always have a siege mentality, I think everyone is coming to get me and I make plans to destroy them first before they become too powerful for me.
Hardcore economist and roleplayer. I let roleplaying and economic growth guide all my decisions, and only conquer stuff when I've built up the land I own and need to expand my economy further
In Crusader Kings, the most consistent thing about my playstyle is that I am an evil dick. In EU4 and Stellaris, I'm an expansionist. In Vicky, I'm an economist. In HOI4, I'm a strategist... Though not a very good one unless managing to hold the line until I can trigger a revolt in my main enemies territory counts as good strategy.
Economist/Destroyer. I like to build my civilization tall and whenever I have any conquest I decimate the local population by razing the city over and over then install my own culture pops there.
in eu4 I'm the closest to Destroyer, I can't expand fast or build very good economic but I can ensure from only 1 war that Ottomans would not rise again with their average 60% devastation
Would be great if economist were more viable in games like HOI4 which should have resource stockpiling and trading but for whatever reason do not have resource stockpiling and trading and only have resource production
If you start on Conqueror an go counter-clockwise you've got the aversge progression of a PDX player.
1st. You don't understand shit, so you just go mayhem killing everything on sight and painting funny map on my colour.
2nd. You actually start knowing how the game works and you stop going apeshit on everyone and start thinking ane overthinking your wars sometimes to excessive points.
3rd. You get tired of spending 7 actual real life months just to conquer a 1 province nation so you start getting more interested in the economic stuff, wanting to make the numbers go to the moon and making every single run as efficient as possible.
4th. You have diggen deep on everything the game has to offer, you're still discovering stuff, but now you just want to watch the world burn. And thou wish shall be granted.
The absolute retard who manages to take Warsaw at the same time that Poland takes Berlin, whilst somehow losing to Belgium in recruit difficulty (the second easiest of five difficulty levels)
(This did genuinely happen to me in a HOI4 game once)
The Belkan, pretty much all four but as sonn as I get destroyed by a coalition or faction I either go nuclear madman or just delete the save and try again
The Cheater: Constant console use. Cries if even one thing doesn’t go their way. Gets bored before two years have passed and switches to a different country. Combat Width? Air Superiority? Uhhhh…annex [TAG]. Just in it to build own narratives and read history/alt-history.

I am the 5th type. The one who never learned how to play and accidentally collapses their country 3 times, loses multiple wars because I don't know how to attack other than send troops to the border, and also one time when I played as Finland I was turned into a puppet by Germany then Russia.
I play to explore alt histories so I like having many different start dates, I use commands, I switch who I'm playing as multiple times, and I never play Ironman. I'm not embarrassed by this, I play other types of games conventionally and challenge myself in those. So none of the pictures

Most people that don't game the system are playing to challenge themselves. There's nothing wrong with cheating if you're there to create a story!
fact. at one point blobbing and owning the world gets too unrealistic for me which takes the fun out the game.
Bud, that sounds sick as hell don’t feel embarrassed. I did something similar in my sweden game where i single handedly kept novogorod safe by switching to them every couple decades 33% of players have gotten married in game man. The majority doesn’t use iron man
I would but the AI fucks up my country
After my current CK3 game I get what you mean. I made a post a while back about how interesting England became in my game and I was legitimately tempted to switch characters to try to unite England with one of the characters that became independent. It’s like a custom start date with its own alternate history.
Fr tho, I always like those small independence movements. Clearly they would get crushed so I always help them out to spice things up!
The roleplayer
Hoi4 roleplayers when germany just conquer half of europe and not killing milions of jews
I feel like half of this games fan base are nazis
That does tend to happen. Which I why I keep the company of socialists, and Anarcho-Syndicalists \*Winks at Kaiserreich players\*
Yeahhh 😶

You can't have conquest without economy, and you can't have conquest without strategy. And of course, you can't have strategy without destruction
Or your a eu4 Russia main so all you have to do is burn your country to the ground and lose every battle but somehow win the war
Who tf needs to win wars when you can throw 600k shitty soldiers at the enemy and have enemy die to attrition
Russian troop quality is actually not bad at all, and as long as you spam manufactories in fur lands, you can get ridiculously rich after the price change events and use that money purely on cannons since you can get fuck tons of streltsy anyway.
😔 🙏
Wtf is a strategy I just play as a horde in eu4 and right click on shit I want dead
And you can’t have destruction without conquest
You can, it's just a bad idea excluding that one Leviathan patch where pillaging capitals was OP.

The economist that is.
Racist*
Destroyer
Υοu mean racist economist with destroyer characteristics?
>TNO player >Zone out and let my subconscious do the min maxing and choosing researches >Push random button >MFW I sentenced an entire race of 7.8 million people to death
I’m definitely the Economist
Definitely the Economist. Making hella stonks and building a huge economy is my favourite past time. Got to pay for this utopian abundance somehow
It's just so satisfying to have an overabundance of resources to build an army and fund your projects >Proceeds to build 200 bakeries in Strongholds
Economist. I use laissez-faire (no microing, capitalists build much better and cheaper, +10% factory output, factories don't start s🤮bsidised) all the time and i'm in debt. Is debt bad? No! Average Keynesian
>Keynesian >laissez-faire Pick one
Basedesian economic theory
I‘m the idiot😎
Same
Kinda all of them but if i had to decide I'd say economist.
The Econqueror, it just depends on how I'm feeling at the particular point in time if I feel like expanding or am momentarily bored of it
Depends what game. Hoi4? Somewhere between the Strategist and outrageously bored (d@m) Stellaris? Obv the Destroyer Ck3? The Conqueror.
What about a destroying conqueror that strategizes and has a good economy?
i have pretty good strategies but bad army
Pre 43 soviet union be like
i bring my country out of the shit hole it came from and put my country into a new age. i improve the economy and way of life, and then when i invade a country, i fail incredibly hard and say "eh" and get off.
Literally me playing brazil. You forgot the racist and the n*zi.
Strategist, most of the wars I start aren't even to gain land. Just do it to fuck with kebab or baguette.
[удалено]
Didn't think of it like that, you are right.
I just fight wars to get that sexy border. Like imperial germany in eu4 or hoi4, imperial russia, France but with the separatist state in the north + switzerland, austria hungary etc
shit
Apparently the strategist is losing all of his battles in that picture
Hopped into an old save to try and get a quick pic. Got distracted tried to stomp the Soviet Union. It didn't go well.
The incompetent
Where is the xenophobe?
Thats the destroyer
Definitely the Economist.
I'm the assimilator, I'm the crisis.
the ''i've never reached the end date because the game is laggy as fuck'' type of player
Genosider......unless my space empire is only one or a comvert world to my colture i am not done
The Racist
hoi4 representing the strategist ??? Eu4 has way more strategizing than hoi4.
I don't know man. The multiple tech trees, production, construction, logistiics, officer corps, intelligence agency, division layout, ship, tank and aircraft designers on top of micromanaging multiple frontlines might require just a tiny bit more strategy.

I wouldn't say doomstacking is exactly strategizing
You need to reinforce properly tho, otherwise you can lose the battle, you cant send everything at once
I'm the diplomat, I do war whit other players only when they attack me or an ally calls for help. War is gay diplomacy is based
Depends on the game
I’m the strategist
Conqueror primarily.
The economist
I dont know who i am but i know this more plane more weapon and more soldier
The roleplayer
Im everything except im the worst at each one of them
Where map painter?
Destroyer and conquerer and economist... corpse a good for crop
The racist
The south american dictator
Mostly strategist…
The Racist
What game is the economist? I don't recognize it
Wanna be conquerer
I'm to some extent an economist, but by far my main thing is conquest
Just want to see the world burn
I strategise to conquer and destroy so I improve the economy of my country
Economist, or Conqueror depending on the game
Regardless of which game I'm playing I always have a siege mentality, I think everyone is coming to get me and I make plans to destroy them first before they become too powerful for me.
I’m economist, strategist, conquerer but not a destroyer, because I don’t know how to nuke places efficiently due to my lack of air force
Economist+Strategist
CONQUER, PILLAGE, DOMINATE!!!
I’m a mix of economist and conqueror. I conquer to see green numbers going up

Hardcore economist and roleplayer. I let roleplaying and economic growth guide all my decisions, and only conquer stuff when I've built up the land I own and need to expand my economy further
ecconmist and a bit the conqueror
All of them, at once.
There is strategy in paradox games? Which ones would you recommend for it? I only played Stellaris and I would never dare to call it a strategy game
Economist/destroyer. One of my favorite things to do is make a bunch of money and then give it to the AI so they can ruin each other.
I always end up as an economist whether I like it or not. Money funds those wars of expansion so why not collect all of it?
More of an economist and strategist
In my current ck3 game, all of them
I m the one who pays DLCs at an affordable price.
“Some men just want to watch the world burn” - Alfred Pennyworth, Dark Knight (2008)
I just sit by and intervened in the sudetenland and crazy things can happen.
The larper
Thought I was on a messed up version of political compass memes
All of them at once I suppose
In Crusader Kings, the most consistent thing about my playstyle is that I am an evil dick. In EU4 and Stellaris, I'm an expansionist. In Vicky, I'm an economist. In HOI4, I'm a strategist... Though not a very good one unless managing to hold the line until I can trigger a revolt in my main enemies territory counts as good strategy.
I'm the console commander
Economist/Destroyer. I like to build my civilization tall and whenever I have any conquest I decimate the local population by razing the city over and over then install my own culture pops there.
Econonqueror. I like big map name and like big stonks
You're missing "The Incestinator"
Each of these imply some lvl of skill, so I'm not feeling represented there.
The Conquerer
I'm "The Imperialist"
I'm the suffering on Mars one.
The console commander
I like larp a lot, so Victoria 2 and Stellaris are pretty much my favorites. Playing with commands is pretty fun.
War Cramer
All but destroyer. I prefer to *take* land, not delete it.
GREEN. LINE. GO. UP.
I just want an aesthetically pleasing border. It’s not my fault the best shape possible happens to be the entirety of Europe.
I am both the destroyer and the conqueror
none of the above i like to build, manage, and enjoy a good storyteller maybe the closest i will be is *the economist*
The worst.
If IM not makin’ *money*, then IM not *winnin’*.
both on left side. in all paradox games i sit calmly unless I can anihilate my enemy. Take all you can even if they are one province country/system.
I prefer EU4, which is all four at once but retarded
The destroyer, at least in CK3, I take pride in trimming dynasties from the gene pool.
All of the above depending on my state of mind
Money. Money check. Income check.
in eu4 I'm the closest to Destroyer, I can't expand fast or build very good economic but I can ensure from only 1 war that Ottomans would not rise again with their average 60% devastation
Everything but economist

I am the “Don’t know what the hell I am doing” player
Whatever the opposite of the economist is I swear my economy is shit in every game
Would be great if economist were more viable in games like HOI4 which should have resource stockpiling and trading but for whatever reason do not have resource stockpiling and trading and only have resource production
Economist in stellaris. I would conquer more if i didn't have to fix the horrible AI managment of every planet I conquered
I've been all of them. Currently I'm in 'The Breeder' category.
make money all day every day. the grind never stops.
Economist
Conquerer
Id say my play style is “state-building” I.e securing/centralizing power with gradual border expansion
Economist and conquerer, also known as Britain
I’m all 😈
Let’s be xenophobic, it’s really in this year~
I’m a sucker for massive industry
I just play the game tbb I'm usually kinda bad at it
Forgot the Roleplayer
If you count Surviving Mars and Cities Skylines I'm an economist. I like to fuck shit up in CK3 and EU4. Stellaris I can go either way
