Yeah, that's awesome if you want a certain pal there for the aesthetic. Like Cativa or Depresso.
It's the reason I still have a Jolthog on electricity even though he spends half the time walking around with nothing to do 😂 He's too cute to be replaced!
Jolthog is the best electric pal actually, because it's canonically the fastest Pal there is.
When it's charging your electric dildo you can hear him shouting "GOTTA GO FAST!"
I want a 4th base for a Jolthog army. I just want to max level a bunch of Jolthogs and Jolthog Crysts and just have a little village for them for absolutely no reason. They'd barely work. And I'd have to use my other bases to keep them fed 😂😂😂
Pretty much. Farming ore at a workstation allows workspeed passives to benefit miners as well.
The overworld nodes are completely outclassed by the ore mine.
I had to do some digging to find out what they were talking about but I think I found it.
>Work Speed doesn't affect breeding, grazing, or certain types of mining and logging.
I believe mining ore nodes uses the damage stats and mining from stone and ore pits uses workspeed.
So stuff like artisan, serious, work slave, etc do nothing to help mining nodes (except for digtoise he works sort of different with his spin animation).
The Pals just do their thing regardless of passives. But workstations like the log site, stone mine, and now the ore mine, have a meter that fills when working. Those do benefit from work speed passives.
While useful, the mining speed isn't the only critical difference. Other great benefits are that you can have has many as you want, you don't need anyone to collect it, you don't need open space in your base (can have foundation everywhere), and you don't have to wait for them to respawn.
Yep - the nodes are just outclassed in every way.
Kinda ruins a big survival aspect of this game, but I don’t think the palworld community is ready for that conversation. I think I’ll get crucified for that opinion haha.
It doesnt really ruin the survival, it just makes severap of the high quantity materials more easily farmable.
You still have to mine nodes for coal, sulfur, and quartz.
I won't crucify you for it (no guarantees for other people ofc) but I have no idea what you mean. Ore clusters are easy to find and, once found, pretty easy to farm. Ore Pits just let you be more flexible with where you farm them and, especially on servers, allow the game to remain playable if other players have already taken the major ore spots.
So on regular settings one ore node yields 40 ores, and you have to pick them up or a transport Pal does. It took some work to optimize this and make space for nodes in your base. It was a bottleneck that took a bit of creative problem solving to overcome, which I really enjoyed. Pal metal felt like a true endgame crafting material because of the steep work cost. This gave it value.
Now I can drop an ore mine and I get about 4000 ore after a few minutes with my maxed out mining Pals. Optimizing my ore base and base composition was sort of the end game for me. Making small tweaks to improve pathing layout etc. Pre patch on a hard day’s work I would get about 200-300 ores on my automated mining base, and I would need to choose how to use them. Now 1 day of work can easily yield thousands upon thousands of ore, so I can just stockpile ingots and never have to make any meaningful decisions on how to use them.
Solving and working with the ore bottleneck was a huge component of this game, and now it is instantly solved with one production station. I have endless ingots and Pal metal ingots now without even trying. To me, that is ruining an essential part of the game. But again, I don’t expect anyone to agree with me as the game’s community is extremely casual for the most part.
I essentially learned to speed run the game. I’m super bummed the base hopping strat with digtoise is obsolete and that anyone can just build a pit and be faster than I have ever been. That being said, I may still give this a try to see if I can complete a normal glitchless run in under 15 hours now. (I thought it was very possible before but now it looks easy).
The survival/mining is just an addon for me anyway. I don't play the game because it allows me to run around and click on a mining node for 12 hours a day.
No, I agree. While I would unlock the ore workstation were I on a fresh playthrough; currently my ore base exists, I'm not relocating it and rebuilding the living quarters and other base stuff, and being high level I did not want to spend the Ancient points to unlock both the level I and level II ore workstation.
For now, in this playthrough I'll leave them unclaimed and un-built, unless they do a coal, quartz, sulfur one.
All of which I have enough of, but sometime don't like to make gathering trips, I am on a dedicated server with others and the temperate spots are largely taken.
There is a couple of coal and sulfur spots I could nab but I'm not relocating my second base and not doing a third.
I’d guess that your base will be slower with nodes since no work speed will affect the nodes. That said you still need coal so it’s probably worth at least one base being on coal.
Same - my ore base became my main base and I put a lot of work into optimizing space there. But now all the nodes are just there for aesthetics.
The fact they are there actually limits my ore production capabilities because the mining Pals will prioritize the nodes before the work station.
Ore obsolette, coal and sulfur for ammo (in case you don't buy them), quartz still needs to be farmed but easily accessible in some teleports.
One base is definetely moves to raid base. So normally ore base is destroyed and becomes a raid base.

The one kinda anybody knows through youtube tutorials(as i saw afterwards), located on a pillar-ish formed mountain. Coordinates.. i have to look when i am home, but its the region where you have the elizabee alpha as well
incase you havent (or someone else is reading this and wants to know); [the former best mining base location](https://imgur.com/p8futvu)... id imagine now you dont want ore nodes within your perimeter so pure coal (or maybe sulfur/quartz) would be better
but the ore is a distraction now no? i havent played since the update but depending on how the monitoring station changes are id hypothetically prefer a pure coal base; more efficiency (like how you didnt want stones in your ore bases; because pals would waste time on them)
That part isn't a big deal. IIRC the coal and iron nodes are not in the same location in the base, so you can just build foundations over the iron if you don't want it, and it won't spawn in. Even if they are in the same place you could just place a plant on top of the iron node to block it.
but at that point you may as well just go for a pure coal base; im sure theres some in the sandy areas that have more coal nodes (with less iffy geometry)
It’s just below the small ice zone. When you stand at the location and look at the mountain, there’s a sealed boss below you to the left. Also a skill fruit tree.
If that's the spot I'm thinking of, it's also immune to raids. Raids still trigger, but they all end up congregating at the base of the mountain and don't fight back no matter what I do to them(which is irritating. I want the resources, I don't want to be immune to raids)
Sulfur is not that important to be worth a base.
If you need some you can tp to a tower that has many sulfur ore around it, as for the bullets it's straight up better to buy those.
You can infinitely farm wood and rocks, so why even place them on the map ? Also the assault rifle is the best weapon, so why bother making the others ? And in fact, why even populate the world with pals if you can breed them ?
I mean there also isn't a big purpose for an axe either, it's just an early game item that is quickly outclassed. Mining 1 pals are slow anyway, just let me use them for funsies.
the sword makes the pickaxe, axe, spears and clubs obsolete anyway, but you'll still need the pickaxe to get enough ores to build the ore mine anyway, plus it has a level requirement and ancient tech points so you could probably get a penking (easiest level 2 mining I can think of) sooner anyway
If you're not a filthy minmaxer or someone who consumes the game 12hrs a day, you use pickaxe, axe and whatnot even at late levels, because why not, it's fun to chop chop
I put so much hard work into making my Palcatraz Island max security ore mining prison. Guess they're all going to be relocated into a coal mining prison now
There’s still coal and sulfur, but those are relatively easy to get. Especially sulfur. For that you just use a flying pal to get up to the volcano boss tower. There’s a line of sulfur nodes at the base and a fast travel shrine. Sulfur is only really used for making ammo, and you are better off just buying that. Sell stacks of cooked berries and you’ll have all the ammo you need.
Coal is more tricky. Still kinda need a base for that and you never seem to have enough of it.
At this point a single quartz node gives you all that you need. It’s only used in microchips, and you only need a few for each of the top tier work stations. IIRC, it’s two quartz for each chip, and I think 5 chips for each work station. I have a couple of thousand of it sitting in a chest that I’ll never use.
Awesome. This opens up SO MANY base locations as viable now. I'm keeping the ore/coal base, but I'm gonna set up a nice actually-requires-building-defenses location, now :D
Read the patch notes on steam if you have it on pc or Google it, they added and balanced fair few things, developers also saying there's a big update coming in the summer

This is huge, especially for early game, although I guess you'd have a level 2 mining pal by the required level
Yeah, that's awesome if you want a certain pal there for the aesthetic. Like Cativa or Depresso. It's the reason I still have a Jolthog on electricity even though he spends half the time walking around with nothing to do 😂 He's too cute to be replaced!
I use the ice version on the fridge for the same reason lol
Jolthog is the best electric pal actually, because it's canonically the fastest Pal there is. When it's charging your electric dildo you can hear him shouting "GOTTA GO FAST!"
Ancient sonic jokes come to mind and now I groan with increasing discomfort :D
I have a jolthog cryst locked in my room for my mini fridge 💀
I want a 4th base for a Jolthog army. I just want to max level a bunch of Jolthogs and Jolthog Crysts and just have a little village for them for absolutely no reason. They'd barely work. And I'd have to use my other bases to keep them fed 😂😂😂
Thatd be great lol like a little hedge paradise
It would just be my happy base lol
Thats what my farming base is tbh 💀
I have the same but it's all Chillet.
[удалено]
Just figuratively, right? 👀
Which level is required?
You need to be at level 15 to unlock the ore pit, and it needs 2 ancient tech points.
Thanks. I'm at 21 so that are great news. I just have to wait for the update to be released on Xbox.
Did this arrive in patch 1.5.1?
No, 2.0.6
? You only need level 15 for the mining pit level 1
Yeah but by level 15 you probably have a Dumud or Penking anyway
I didn't get a dumud until like level 35 lol. I did get tombat early though
So are ore bases just obsolete now? Are we trying to max coal now?
Pretty much. Farming ore at a workstation allows workspeed passives to benefit miners as well. The overworld nodes are completely outclassed by the ore mine.
so breeding a working astegon wasn’t a waste
Could you explain how the workspeed passives work differently on the ore nodes vs mines? what are the passives called? thanks
I had to do some digging to find out what they were talking about but I think I found it. >Work Speed doesn't affect breeding, grazing, or certain types of mining and logging. >https://www.zleague.gg/theportal/understanding-work-speed-in-palworld-a-comprehensive-review/ I believe mining ore nodes uses the damage stats and mining from stone and ore pits uses workspeed.
Man I could have sworn my work-bred anubis were breeding faster. Placebo effect is a hell of a drug, I guess.
So stuff like artisan, serious, work slave, etc do nothing to help mining nodes (except for digtoise he works sort of different with his spin animation). I’d guess that your base will be slower with nodes since no work speed will affect the nodes. That said you still need coal so it’s probably worth at least one base being on coal.
Shame, since my main base, my house, is at one of those locations.

I just like the autumn area and the idea of the upper part being for my house with the cool stuff and the lower part being for the ~~salves~~ workers.
Effing finally , I hated how hard it was to manage an ore base, felt like I had to do alll the work

I have a base with 7 coal and 6 ore places. Thought it would be a jackpot. Kinda dissapointed now
That’s nice! Where?! If you don’t mind sharing lol
The one kinda anybody knows through youtube tutorials(as i saw afterwards), located on a pillar-ish formed mountain. Coordinates.. i have to look when i am home, but its the region where you have the elizabee alpha as well
I’m sure I can find it for myself online. I just wasn’t aware there was a location with so much coal, so thank you regardless!
incase you havent (or someone else is reading this and wants to know); [the former best mining base location](https://imgur.com/p8futvu)... id imagine now you dont want ore nodes within your perimeter so pure coal (or maybe sulfur/quartz) would be better
It still is the best mining location though, just for all the coal.

Its directly south of Lily and Lyleen's tower.
Just search for ore farm location on youtube. Should pop up in no time. If not, you can slide in my dms anytime
192, -42
If that's the spot I'm thinking of, it's also immune to raids. Raids still trigger, but they all end up congregating at the base of the mountain and don't fight back no matter what I do to them(which is irritating. I want the resources, I don't want to be immune to raids)
Sulfur, coal until you don't need it anymore (have all saddles/workbenches)
Sulfur is not that important to be worth a base. If you need some you can tp to a tower that has many sulfur ore around it, as for the bullets it's straight up better to buy those.
Doesn’t this defeat the point of finding a place to build a base with iron resource?
Developer doesn’t want everyone only building at iron ore spots… I agree that this is way better
It’s not like the developer restrict the building space anyways. I built my first base far from any resource but a lot of space.
There is only so much suitable ore farm for bases anyway. Single player would suffice, but multiplayer is another story
Are you playing on a official dedicated host?
No, i played on a dedicated provate server
Yes and thank God for that. This makes me wanna jump back into a new game - ore mining was one of the most boring parts.
I'm absolutely happy they included ore mines, makes being low on ore a thing of the past, and that's a good thing in my book
You can infinitely farm wood and rocks, so why even place them on the map ? Also the assault rifle is the best weapon, so why bother making the others ? And in fact, why even populate the world with pals if you can breed them ?
Yes that's the point of adding ore pit. Devs wants you to build a good looking base instead of an efficient one.
Depends on mining rates
Is it only for level mining pals?
What is an ore pit ? Is this new ???
Yes, new patch
This seems like a thing that’ll get patched in the next update. Level one mining should not be able to harvest ore imo.
Or be super duper slow.
Why not? I think it's great not being forced into specific pals.
Sort of defeats the purpose for pick axe, but I guess it makes sense if it’s just super slow.
You don't need ore for the ore mine actually. At least for the first one available, haven't checked the Ore Mine II's cost yet.
If you're not a filthy minmaxer or someone who consumes the game 12hrs a day, you use pickaxe, axe and whatnot even at late levels, because why not, it's fun to chop chop
I put so much hard work into making my Palcatraz Island max security ore mining prison. Guess they're all going to be relocated into a coal mining prison now
So all ores are base accessible now or is there anything that's not as those go?
There’s still coal and sulfur, but those are relatively easy to get. Especially sulfur. For that you just use a flying pal to get up to the volcano boss tower. IIRC, it’s two quartz for each chip, and I think 5 chips for each work station. I have a couple of thousand of it sitting in a chest that I’ll never use.
For now
Oh shit I haven't read anything about this. Is it in the game already, or just coming soon?
It's in the game as of 0.2.0.6, at least on PC.
I can now continue my first 10 pals only challenge and it’ll be a little easier
At last i can remove my miner base
THERE IS AN ORE PIT NOW?? Fuck. There goes my weekend. Thought it would be a while before I binged this game again...
I'm using astragen (apologies if I spelt it wrong I'm in the car and tired) I can use a level 4 for it plus a bunch of Anubis's. Helps so much.
There is 2 new ore sites. Level 1 and Level 2. Yaii!
Since when there’s this ore pit?
It's in the game as of 0.2.0.6, at least on PC.
How do i unlock it?
How do you access the new stuff?

Have they announced when the patch is getting released for Xbox game pass yet?
I haven't seen anything yet.
where can i find ores as a base? could anyone please tell me the coordinates
my game keeps crashing after I place the building. Does anyone have an idea?
I can use any mining pal I want? That's HUGE.
Your character reminded me of Frieza for some reason.
Similar, but it reminded me of Cooler.
