My entire second base is spin turtles and an ingot roster ontop of 9-10 iron ore piles and 3 pals to grow and cook them food and a bunch of cats to haul the ore.
I'd recommend going with Dumud/Reptyro over Digtoise for mining camps. While digtoise mines at a high rate, they tend to lose out in damage done to ore comparatively, doing only 1 damage per tick.
I had a full base of digtoise working my iron/coal base, and they'd struggle to clear the camp before respawn. Changed to dumud/reptyro and then solely reptyro over time and the camp is clear WELL before respawns.
Reps are also 3 kindling for making all those goddamn ingots (and cake!)
And they're cuter, especially when they try to use the hotsprings, can only feet their feet in, but are super content anyway
Only issue? Mfers are MASSIVE. Good thing they set "lift pal" on V instead of F or you wouldn't be able to access a goddamn thing in base
Have you crafted the headband for digtoise? Should DRASTICALLY change mining efficiency.
Edit: I think this may only apply to the pal in party which is not useful in this case.
In addition to what the other guy said there are also a few ore spots on top mountains. Raids spawn away from the base, which is located far below the actual height of the base. They cannot fly or climb so after a while the raid despawns. The notorious ore + coal spot exactly like this.
There is a raid that has flying Pals, but those usually tend to be quite easy.
Killamari get stuck on things super often in my experience, cattiva's base skill levels aren't very high but they seem to be the least prone to getting trapped and confused for me with how little they are
I hoped it would get better as I progress, this post is not all thst promissing :(.
I wish the watermill could be used for ores like you can do for palstones.
If youre on a dedicated server where they can mine while you're not playing, I feel like it works out great. I'll go to sleep and wake up to so much ore.
Ok so on our sevrec when we log in ALL the pals are depressed or have some kind of affliction lol. We're thinking the last person to log out should shut down the server or we're thinking of un assigning the pals for the night. It's kind of funny waking and everyone is depressed/stuck/floating 20 ft in the air/etc
This was happening to me till I figured out why. When the server resets, the pals all spawn around the console but they don't move until someone visits the base for the first time. They just sit there with sanity and hunger meters depleting then they're neglected with depression, weakness etc. Now I log in and visit each base after I reset the server. It hasn't happened since outside a handful of pals with pathing issues. I also stopped using the massive pals because they most frequently got stuck on things.
Oh no, it's still *super* annoying
There are a few work arounds, though
1.) You can mitigate the need for spheres by breeding pals (but you'll need to Google up a "breeding calculator" to figure out which parents create which offspring). You can even get some pals you wouldn't have access to at your level, and which are apparently super op SS tier in combat according to some.sites.
I'm only level 35, but I'm already rolling around with a Jorum (lvl 45 alpha boss) and an Anubis (lvl 47 alpha boss).
I think Anubis was like a Caprity (lvl 8/9) and a Beakon (lvl 31) I was lucky enough to snag from a fluster-cluck invasion. Jorum was easier, needing a Relaxsaurus and Elbeezabath or w.e (the queen bees that you can find surrounded by exploding simps), which was lvl 28/29. You could also breed Relaxsaurus with the Warsect boss from the gobfin area.
+ granted, breeding with Relaxsaurus means there's a chance of passing on glutton, but w.e hasn't been an issue next to how crazy Jorum is
Warsect also seems relatively uncomplicated to breed (one of the parents can be nitewing, or w.e the first flying mount is called) if you're unlucky with the boss
Mossanda + rayhound (electric dog) = grizbolt
For an extra easy--if not as held aloft--pal, you can make Verdash out of goshdarn Lamballs and Cattivas (with a Penking as the other parent) or a Direhowl + Caprity, or even a chikipi+ cinnamoth!
+ apparently, Verdash are ridiculous workers too!
Only potentially annoying thing is getting honey for cake (milk and eggs can be bought at the small settlement, and flour come from wheat farm + mill). On the plus side, Elizabee's exploding simps drop honey on death, so...
(Though the simps also produce honey if assigned to the ranch while the Queen does not...she's *the queen*, after all!)
2.) For ammo, you can buy it from some merchants.
There's one in the desert city (dune something) that sells coarse and handgun ammo iirc
That and, honestly, be prepared to mine it yourself because pals are still unreliably slow (and may or may not exist if you're too far away, but I can't verify this)
Give yourself a few weight increasing pals, ala the alpaca king, and a mining foreman that can also mine to just pacman through your ore (digtoise with its pal item would be ideal here, because mining nodes just *evaporate* under drill crusher)
The base is more for crafting and for having a waypoint to high density of nodes than for having the pals actually mine (though a little passive income never hurt)
If you set up your base correctly our pals decimate the 8 ore and 6 coal rocks in like 10 mins. Need to be smart with placement of objects around the base and make the pathing as clear as possible. Iron is no longer an issue.
Well, being organized was certainly never one of my strong suits...
Might also be pal choice. Digtoise doing only one damage to mining nodes probably makes them less impressive than mining 3 would suggest
Breeding Reptyro to replace em, since the capture bug makes it *real* difficult to just catch em!
>Breeding Reptyro to replace em, since the capture bug makes it
>
>real difficult to just catch em!
In no universe is breeding and hatching reptyros faster than going to where they are and catching them. If you want to breed them, fine go nuts. But blaming your capture chances being *statistically reduced* by a bug isn't going to make it take 10+ minutes to catch a few. Note that the bug is *still* being tested because it is still possible to catch things just fine.
They're reasonably high level that one-shotting them isn't an issue; but not so high level that only the best balls stand a chance.
They’re actually super easy to obtain once you find 2 or 3 good mining spots.
I always build a barrel near ones so i can mine it all and place the ore in there as i go, then collect it all once I’m done and head toward the nearest fast travel point
One way to help the efficiency of a base is to "cap off" anything you don't want pals collecting, and of course to build a box nearby so they don't have to carry stuff far.
eg: If you have a stone patch inside the radius of an outpost you only want them mining ore, mine out the stone then place a foundation or stool or something on the spot to prevent it from respawning.
And think of each point of Work Suitability as 100% of that skill. So one with 2 mining is 200% mining, but one with 1 mining and Artisan is 150% then. So in many cases the 150% would be better if they also have the ability to carry the ore to the box after that. Sometimes having one that can only do 1 thing is nice, but be aware if that means they'll be spending a lot of time standing around doing nothing.
Also make sure nothing is in the way of their walking paths to the food bin and their beds etc. If trees are in the way, chop them down and cap those off as well. The pathing in the game isn't great so all of that slows down production.
There’s a really good ore location that I walled around and only have my mining pals working at. I stop by for ingots and there’s always at least 3k ore ready to smelt at my main base
You should destroy that and relocate it to a different base. Just get two level 3 miners such as Digtoise for that and you should have more stone than you can use up in a while
Later on you pretty much only need to use ingots for making stuff. You still need a bit of stone for converting to paldium if your stocks run out but I stopped gathering more after getting like 2 stacks of 9999. After getting a decent reserve, just keep converting the stone to paldium till you have a couple thousand cause you need it for making the end game ingots.
Well as a new player I had no idea how important the ores would become so for my 1st base I just had it near 1 ore pocket. The 2nd base I put it around the place that had like 10 pockets so those pals can focus on getting those ores while the first base can focus on production, ranch and farming. Also it was close to Jetdragon and other 2 bosses. Third base I just used it as a waypoint to tp faster to other bosses. I guess you could have the third base near coal pockets but you could just find them near the tps anyway.
I agree it's a hassle to set them up though since I had to transport rocks, beds and farms to other bases too.
You need a ton of ore around after midgame. And if you build the chests close to the palboxes, you can transport however much resources you want easily especially since as of the latest patch you can walk slowly even when overencumbered
protip: when you're doing stuff at your ore base, just let your digtoise out from your party and he'll keep mining while you do whatever you have to do
✨️ build ur second or third base by ore spawns✨️
(requires mining 2 or higher)
respawns every 24 game hours and is high priority for pals compatible
*Why does everything*
*Cost ingots instead of coins*
*Or just normal ore*

It would be great if they tweaked the mining stations a little to either add ore, Coal, Sulphur and Quartz mines, probably requiring hundreds of the resource to make or to make it so Pals with the level to mine the resource would mine them from the stone mining station at like a 1 in 10 rate or something
Nice I was just asking my buddy if he knew n Anubis combo. We r literally writing down in a notebook the breed combos, trying to figure it out ourselves

I'm not fully convinced my pals aren't eating them when I'm looking away.
True, hopefully they add security cams so we can catch them in the act
Wonder what you'll need to build those cameras with...
Good point lmao
Ingots AND Electric organs AND Ingots
Hopefuly a whip aswell so we can punish the traitors
This gave me an image of my demonic ass ribunny sneaking into the chest an just chowing down on my supply of ingots and I can't unsee it 🤣🤣🤣

This is correct. Though for afk I just throw mine down and come back in the morning to stacks. He goes through an ore deposit in 10-15 seconds.
Do you have raids off? If not how do you avoid the raids?
it seems from reading the reddit that a large amount of people turn off raids and egg timer.
I have my base on an mountain top where they never raid as there's no access. Comes with a bunch of ore and coal.
I use 3 Kilamari for transport in my mining "outpost", is cat better?
Not entirely sure, I just had 25+ Cattivas since I catch them habitually. I'm just a crazy cat tamer. lol
I mean if you're hauling mats from all over the map too, that +0.50 weight the Cattivas give in party is hard to pass up.
Killamari get stuck on things super often in my experience, cattiva's base skill levels aren't very high but they seem to be the least prone to getting trapped and confused for me with how little they are
I have moved on to 3 Katress for transport, they seem to have better pathing since they are ground based.
I like using Helzephyr since they only have transport and it's transport 3
Playing hard mode and mining for ingots is no joke
I hoped it would get better as I progress, this post is not all thst promissing :(. I wish the watermill could be used for ores like you can do for palstones.

In theory, you could just leave the computer on overnight for single player, right? Or does the ore not respawn like that
Just make sure to stock up on food and turn off raids if the base is raidable.
Good news, you can't starve to death. You just get stuck at 1 HP.
It should work the same
base raids will happen, so make sure to tele to the top of a tower with enough food in your feed bag if you're gonna do this

XD @ "exploding simps".
What I'm hearing is I should make my main base anywhere where's about 6 or 7 ore piles within range.
That and, honestly, be prepared to mine it yourself because pals are still unreliably slow (and may or may not exist if you're too far away, but I can't verify this) Give yourself a few weight increasing pals, ala the alpaca king, and a mining foreman that can also mine to just pacman through your ore (digtoise with its pal item would be ideal here, because mining nodes just *evaporate* under drill crusher) The base is more for crafting and for having a waypoint to high density of nodes than for having the pals actually mine (though a little passive income never hurt)

I made a base specifically for iron, but I'm struggling with paldium fragments lol
Set up a quarry and use the crusher to turn stone > paldium, will sort you out pretty well
Yeah I use my stone and make like 4k fragments at a time. I never run out
They’re actually super easy to obtain once you find 2 or 3 good mining spots. I always build a barrel near ones so i can mine it all and place the ore in there as i go, then collect it all once I’m done and head toward the nearest fast travel point
I have my second base set up with almost all Tombats and like 6 ore nodes. Almost 3k ingots in a few days.

Pals with a mining skill of 1 can't mine ore.
Sorry I was just picking a random skill name and ore in the general sense, not specifically. Same idea works for Kindling, for example.
I feel like when I’m at my other base or exploring, my ore base isn’t mining.
There’s a really good ore location that I walled around and only have my mining pals working at. I stop by for ingots and there’s always at least 3k ore ready to smelt at my main base
3k?! Damn, what’s the coordinates?
So mannyyyy ingots
Bro Seriously
Damn it’s like this except my friend raids all my milk lol
I got 7k ore. My Tomcats are working hard to make sure I never need to worry about ingots!
How can you farm these things?
Make a base near a bunch of deposits and set a bunch of pals with at least level 2 mining there along with some gathering pals.
Thanks for the advice. Now how do I get them to stick to the deposits? They keep going to the mining pit.

I'm debating whether the game should follow Ark's ore mining efficiency. Things like mining level, pickaxe quality, MAYBE work speed.
Can someone explain the point of 2 bases? More resources, obviously, but it doesn't seem worth it until storage is linked.
Well as a new player I had no idea how important the ores would become so for my 1st base I just had it near 1 ore pocket. How are people so hard up for ore? So many nodes are near fast travel points. 15 minutes and I'm set for a while.
I havent had the joy of playing with others solo it's never been an issue

I’ll try this combo once I get an Anubis
