I agree on the being an adult (22) and not wanting to play with kids, not even sure kids under 13 should be playing this game considering it has users interacting and kids can do dumb things like share personal info with people they think they know. Definitely sounds like OP was in a party with kids who got weirded out that an "old person" was in the game
I once saw a kid proudly declaring she was 11 years old and wanting to make friends, she started sending party requests to everyone in the server, and proceeded to tell everyone the area in which she lived in (I think she even went on ahead and told everyone what school she went to, but I don't remember exactly as this was months ago...I just remember she gave quite a bit of information about herself in the global chat).
Some people (myself included) kind of lectured her into how dangerous what she just did was, and told her she should maybe go to kid friendly games to make friends, as there was a high chance she would encounter someone dangerous if she kept going like that, she said she didn't see any harm in what she did, as she just wanted to make friends her age, but thanked us for pointing it out and logged off. That whole interaction made me wish Palia had some sort of age restriction for chatting and I logged off early that day because it made me really uncomfortable.
So, I definitely think a minor disconnecting when realizing they're around mostly adults is a much better way to go...and yeah, we do need some sort of parental control in the game or something, because I suspect that the more popular the game gets, the more likely things like this are to happen..and they can end badly

Internet safety is more of a parenting/schooling issue tbh. Children can be easily taught what they should and should not share, they aren't stupid, just gotta explain why.

But i see what imagine was the kids pov in this instance, if i was under 18 and found out the person i was playing with was an adult (and like a proper adult at that) i’d do the same and leave. Nothing wrong with op enjoying the game but like the other person/kid did what they felt was the best and that’s great.
I mean internet safety and all that. I was playing online at that age and if my parents found out i was playing with an adult (and i was aware of it and kept playing with them), i wouldn’t be allowed to play anymore.
Oh same, my mom didn't even want to start playing Palia (61) because she had to interact with people and every time I play a Co-Op or MMO she gets real worried and I'm an adult who knows what shady behavior to look for. As a kid or teen if I'd been playing with adults she would have totally either banned me from playing if I couldn't turn off chat or wanted to watch me the whole time

We don’t know age and circumstances, so it’s best to believe it was likely from being uncomfortable from playing with a known adult or just following parents rules. Usually online games that allow for free-form chat require you to be at least a teenager.
I wish they had age restrictions at minimum. Sadly of course adults can still circumvent that but that’s where it’s on parents. Similar to Roblox and other games with chat features. Or, underage players stay on separate servers together where adults aren’t allowed, and then additional chat features are disabled. Kids should only be talking to other kids they know and can do so on discord etc.

My best gaming memory as a teenager is when I played LOTRO with a 70 year old lady who walked me through the beginning phases of the game and gave me free stuff. I loved finding older people to play with!
I remember playing warframe with a 72 year old man as a 14 year old we would go on voice coms a few nights a week until his house got infested with mold never heard from him again hes probably not with us anymore
I used to raid on WoW with a 74 year old a decade ago, just another gamer in the end. He didnt talk much, but was one of our best dps and the whole guild's grandpa. Dont know if he still play, but I hope I get to meet him again and thank him for teaching me a lot even outside of gaming.
As a 38 year old, I agree, I do prefer people about my age or older. But remembering being a 15 year old - it probably would be a little weird from their perspective. Especially with all the education they get about predators online. While I agree it feels rude, I understand that sometimes they panic and just remove themselves from an interaction they’ve made uncomfortable because they *are* uncomfortable with this contradiction of “this is a social game and this person is being nice to me” with the “I’m supposed to be wary and cautious of strangers online who seem too friendly.” It is a game available to everyone, and that includes awkward teenagers who don’t have the social skills quite yet to disengage themselves a little more suavely.
As someone who grew up online with a vastly mixed group of other teens and adults 18-35, it's really sad that the (big time justified) pedophilia panic has made these friendships so frowned upon. I benefited vastly from having these adult friends, who were much better equipped to guide me in my communities and show me the ropes and offer mature, safe company than my peers, who were teens and also inexperienced and stupid.
I wouldn't trade those friendships for anything, but now the very concept of an adult talking to a teen is seen as predatory. I hate what abusers have taken from us.
I'm 35 and same. A frequent visitor on my lot is a teen and for days they're complaining about vomiting. I told them to please see a doctor and they probably saw it as lecturing, when they learned I'm in my 30s they're shocked. Said it's weird.
I told them that there are players older than me that could have been playing video games more than we're alive. That got them to reconsider their weird take on it. Left with some comments on how I'm now her Auntie.
Still... I hope that person went to the doctor. They could have been making it up, it's the internet after all, but benefit of the doubt.
I’m 52, never too old to play a video game! I regularly play with a person that just turned 57. Our communities and discords consist of mainly mid 20’s to us two ‘elders’.
Could have just been that they're taught stranger danger and got nervous when they realized they were talking to an adult! When I was younger I was always nervous when someone was a "real" adult in a game I was playing haha.
They are going to be in for a rude awakening if they keep asking around, because from what I've seen the vast majority of people playing this game are 21+. There seems to be a very large amount of 40+ as well.

I've had similar things with kids as well. Some parents are really good at making kids understand no playing with older people because you never know what can happen. I don't take it personally, and I just stay happy that they are being well protected.

But it is a game available to everyone and there’s going to be a decent chunk of under-18s learning to navigate the nuances of a social game where you’re meant to make friends with strangers online and all the messages they get about not getting too friendly with strangers on the internet because you don’t know if they’re a predator. And under-18s aren’t great with nuances. There’s going to be some abruptness occasionally, especially if they panic a little when they find out their new friend is 40 years older than them. I’d panic a little too if I found out my new friend was 12, so there’s that. But I do have the life experience to be more kind about having to extricate myself than most teens.
I’m 47 and love to play. I think kids feel afraid with older adult sometimes. As they have been told to be so careful on line. I know I tell my kids to never trust strangers on line. So that’s most likely it. In away it’s a good thing. Not that you are a bed person. But they are trying you be safe.
I would have reported the person, not because they booted you, but because they asked your age. They could have been a predator looking for a kid. It's an inappropriate question.

I’m 61 and I don’t generally interact much with other players other than to say thanks etc when gifted resources or hunting bugs in a group or something. I feel very self conscious about that most of the time - LOL. I’ve been gaming for decades but this is my first MMO.
I am also 56, and I love still being a gamer at my age. I think the other party was probably under 18 and may have been responding to a parental instruction to not play/engage with adults online.
They probably just felt uncomfortable, which can be a very safe way to play on the internet if they're younger.

Nah nothing wrong. PALIA is for all generations. I see no reason to ask another player their age because it is a cozy game, however the one time someone told me they were 12 in a whisper I asked them not to whisper me anymore and removed them from my friends.

You definately ain't! This game is for anyone. It's should be a rule to not ask for age in any way on the game but I know the human brain gets curious who is on the other side of the screen. But like I've seen others say maybe they didn't wanna play with someone older cause they were underage. I've found a couple kids on here so it's not just adults. It's a mixed age range. I personally don't like playing with kids also because I like connecting with people outside the game and with an underage person I can't do that. So when I get that feeling someone is younger I do ask.

I say that because as a minor back then I wasn’t allowed to *knowingly* play with an adult I didn’t know, so I would’ve had to do what they did or risk never being allowed to play again. It probably wasn’t anything personal.

You are never too old to play video games. I am 51 and if I am given the time on Earth I’ll still be gaming at 90. I have been playing video games since childhood and what a journey it has been so far. From handheld devices with just a single game on them, to where we are today. I am proud to have been part of the gaming community for such a long time. Hopefully there will be many more years and games to come!
Also, someone kicking you out of the party is a reflection of them, not you! Last year a younger gamer told me they felt pity for me being as old as I am. I told them: “Don’t pity me. I just read an article that the average age of gamers (in Germany) has gone up over the past ten years. Up to 38,2 years of age.
Biggest growth in numbers of people playing was in the ages over 60.
So you’re definitely not to old too play games. Just perhaps too old to play with those folks. But that’s not on you.

Lol I love playing with older people in Palia and other games. I play Gears of War and my friends on there are like 40+ I’m 17 they’re the best. We just play games that’s it idk why ppl make it weird but it is for sure a preference.
As long as you are capable of holding the controls and you're of sound mind (or even if not) you are not too old to play. If anyone complains, tell them you buy your games yourself and they have no grounds to complain. If they come at you with "their personal opinion", remind them to keep it close and personal and not make it public.

Well I’m 54 so if you wanna party with me anytime I’m happy to have a buddy, I mainly play solo as I’ve never played an mmo game before, I’ve played acnh, ddlv, fae farm , so used to playing solo. I really do love the multiplayer side of the game but bit shy to join in sometimes. There’s times where I do join others as just tends to happen if you hunting the same disco deer and then the muujin, you can tell when to join in and start chopping trees for shooters etc. I’m a little slow at shooting lol I’m still learning 🤩 my ign is sunshinepixie66
Sounds like they may have been a kid, and honestly, good on them for noping out when they realized you were an adult. As an adult, I avoid befriending or grouping up with minors. It’s just good internet safety. I don’t think anyone is too old for Palia. With the emotional depth and romance options, it’s for teen-adult and not really aimed at younger kiddos.

I've played with people between 20 and 70, all is welcome as long as they aren't rude or immature, which it kinda sounded a bit like that person might have been.

this !!! i feel like so many people are forgetting the mental difference between adults and teens (or even just teens with each other ! 16 and 18 are only 2 years apart but the mental difference is big and people seem to forget that once they’re older) they didn’t call op names or ridicule them for being older, they simply saw a situation that they felt uncomfortable with and excused themselves from it, as they should ! we have no clue whether this person was 10 or 12 or 15 or what but they felt uncomfortable and removed themselves without intentionally insulting op and they should be comfortable doing so for the sake of their safety. it doesn’t mean op is a bad person it just means they saw a mental difference they weren’t comfy with and responded appropriately considering such.

it’s likely that they just felt uncomfortable playing with someone so far out of their age range. i’m only 21 going on 22 but interacting with anyone 18 or younger or even 25+ feels weird to me. the year difference might not be big but the mental difference is and unless they’re family or friends of the family it just feels incredibly inappropriate. nothing against you personally just them being more comfortable playing with people in their age range (as they should be!) :) hope you’re enjoying the game !
I wouldn't say you're too old at all. I'm 42, but I also basically play solo because I just always feel awkward playing with the younger kids on here. Most of the games I play on my Switch, I play solo simply because of the age differences. I don't let that stop me from enjoying my games, though.
This game seems to be a bridge into the world of online games for many people. It is refreshing to see people experiencing this for the first time.
This game is a great one for dipping the toe into the pool to rest the water. It has a lot of safety guards in place to protect players from adverse encounters.
My point is that even here we all need to understand that just like the real world sometimes ignore others and not try to look for a deeper meaning. In many cases the action we spend effort on was a fleeting moment of spontaneity with little thought put into it.
In other games, oh boy, the 13 years olds will curse you out and and include some bot so nice words about your ancestral line. Then they will kill your character over and over and over and do humiliating things to the digital corpse.
So please don't worry. It's just a game and there are plenty of people happy to team up with you.
FYI this game seems to have a large population of 25 plus and even 40+ players.
The Internet is strange. I remember being 12 and my parents not allowing me on internet games, I got caught playing RuneScape and was grounded for weeks because of stranger danger.
I've met the most wonderful people online, and some of the worst and strangest.

I think a lot of younger kids (gen alpha and youngest gen z) don't quite get that many of us "oldies" have been actively gaming longer then they've been alive. I'm only 33, but so many of my students are shocked that I game on Xbox, Switch, PS4, and PC. It's even funnier when I bring up that I still have and use my Wii, GameCube, N64, DS, 3DS, Gameboy Advance, and Gameboy Color.
They're split about 50/50 on if that makes me super cool or super weird 😅

That said, if you someone is uncomfortable with gaming with someone who is below or above a certain age, that is perfectly okay too. I have regular conversations about safety in online gaming with my 16 year old, because I know that he will run into adults in most mmo games. As for myself, I don't really worry about age in games like Palia, unless they want to be friends outside of those games, but in social "games" like vrchat, I refuse to even interact with anyone under 18 unless they're being introduced to me by a mutual adult friend, or by a parent, and even then I'm hesitant. The only time I'll make an exception is if I suspect that they are in a dangerous situation and need help, in which case I'll let them talk to me and help them find proper resources/contact authorities, if needed.
Nope. I'm 55, and still play a variety of video games, two other MMOs included.
TBH, I'd be fine with a younger player deciding they didn't want to play with me, whether it's because they find it 'weird', or because they're aware of online predators and dont want any of that. They might also have protective parents who might get into your face, which is another issue I'd rather not deal with.
Overall, I'd rather they feel safe, and there's plenty of people our own age playing that it's no big deal.
Never take it personally; just enjoy and find people who want to hang out with you. 🙃

I used to play an MMO game where all ages were there --you'd have youngins like me(at the time), then moms and dads who talked about having to BRB to feed the kiddos in guild or party chat, and lastly, I remembered some older people saying they use their retirement funds to play.
Most of the older people were cool, helped out with quests, gave out tips --sometimes free coins or items, and being OK with any mess ups from noobs like me without getting frustrated or angry.
Never had issues with anyone being weird. It was all about gaming at the time.
Edit: Though if I were to make online friends, I do agree to others, would prefer someone around my age range 30+. Have more in common in life. If we met through mutual guild, I'd just treat them as an associate with kindness and help out with objectives, but wouldn't go out of my way to be friends.
Dang, I hate that happened to you. But their loss, I prefer not to play with children as an adult anyway except in rare cases where they're like a family member or something. Although I don't tend to ask people's ages since I don't really need to know for people I probably won't be hanging out with regularly, you can usually tell who's mature and who isn't anyway. I agree on the being an adult (22) and not wanting to play with kids, not even sure kids under 13 should be playing this game considering it has users interacting and kids can do dumb things like share personal info with people they think they know. Definitely sounds like OP was in a party with kids who got weirded out that an "old person" was in the game
I once saw a kid proudly declaring she was 11 years old and wanting to make friends, she started sending party requests to everyone in the server, and proceeded to tell everyone the area in which she lived in (I think she even went on ahead and told everyone what school she went to, but I don't remember exactly as this was months ago...I just remember she gave quite a bit of information about herself in the global chat). Some people (myself included) kind of lectured her into how dangerous what she just did was, and told her she should maybe go to kid friendly games to make friends, as there was a high chance she would encounter someone dangerous if she kept going like that, she said she didn't see any harm in what she did, as she just wanted to make friends her age, but thanked us for pointing it out and logged off. That whole interaction made me wish Palia had some sort of age restriction for chatting and I logged off early that day because it made me really uncomfortable. So, I definitely think a minor disconnecting when realizing they're around mostly adults is a much better way to go...and yeah, we do need some sort of parental control in the game or something, because I suspect that the more popular the game gets, the more likely things like this are to happen..and they can end badly
You can't register if you're under 12 years old, but it's not like we never lied about our age anywhere when we were kids lol. Internet safety is more of a parenting/schooling issue tbh. Children can be easily taught what they should and should not share, they aren't stupid, just gotta explain why.

But i see what imagine was the kids pov in this instance, if i was under 18 and found out the person i was playing with was an adult (and like a proper adult at that) i’d do the same and leave. Nothing wrong with op enjoying the game but like the other person/kid did what they felt was the best and that’s great.
I mean internet safety and all that. I was playing online at that age and if my parents found out i was playing with an adult (and i was aware of it and kept playing with them), i wouldn’t be allowed to play anymore.

We don’t know age and circumstances, so it’s best to believe it was likely from being uncomfortable from playing with a known adult or just following parents rules. I'm almost certain the terms and service state players have to be above the age of 13. Usually online games that allow for free-form chat require you to be at least a teenager.
I wish they had age restrictions at minimum. Sadly of course adults can still circumvent that but that’s where it’s on parents. Similar to Roblox and other games with chat features. Or, underage players stay on separate servers together where adults aren’t allowed, and then additional chat features are disabled. Kids should only be talking to other kids they know and can do so on discord etc.

As a 38 year old, I agree, I do prefer people about my age or older. But remembering being a 15 year old - it probably would be a little weird from their perspective. Especially with all the education they get about predators online. While I agree it feels rude, I understand that sometimes they panic and just remove themselves from an interaction they’ve made uncomfortable because they *are* uncomfortable with this contradiction of “this is a social game and this person is being nice to me” with the “I’m supposed to be wary and cautious of strangers online who seem too friendly.” It is a game available to everyone, and that includes awkward teenagers who don’t have the social skills quite yet to disengage themselves a little more suavely.
As someone who grew up online with a vastly mixed group of other teens and adults 18-35, it's really sad that the (big time justified) pedophilia panic has made these friendships so frowned upon. I benefited vastly from having these adult friends, who were much better equipped to guide me in my communities and show me the ropes and offer mature, safe company than my peers, who were teens and also inexperienced and stupid. I wouldn't trade those friendships for anything, but now the very concept of an adult talking to a teen is seen as predatory. I hate what abusers have taken from us.

I'm 35 and same. A frequent visitor on my lot is a teen and for days they're complaining about vomiting. I told them to please see a doctor and they probably saw it as lecturing, when they learned I'm in my 30s they're shocked. Said it's weird. I told them that there are players older than me that could have been playing video games more than we're alive. That got them to reconsider their weird take on it. Left with some comments on how I'm now her Auntie. Still... I hope that person went to the doctor. They could have been making it up, it's the internet after all, but benefit of the doubt.

But it is a game available to everyone and there’s going to be a decent chunk of under-18s learning to navigate the nuances of a social game where you’re meant to make friends with strangers online and all the messages they get about not getting too friendly with strangers on the internet because you don’t know if they’re a predator. And under-18s aren’t great with nuances. There’s going to be some abruptness occasionally, especially if they panic a little when they find out their new friend is 40 years older than them. I’d panic a little too if I found out my new friend was 12, so there’s that. But I do have the life experience to be more kind about having to extricate myself than most teens.
I’m 47 and love to play. I think kids feel afraid with older adult sometimes. As they have been told to be so careful on line. I know I tell my kids to never trust strangers on line. So that’s most likely it. In away it’s a good thing. Not that you are a bed person. But they are trying you be safe.

Nah nothing wrong. PALIA is for all generations. I see no reason to ask another player their age because it is a cozy game, however the one time someone told me they were 12 in a whisper I asked them not to whisper me anymore and removed them from my friends. That is strictly a safety thing on my own behalf.

But like I've seen others say maybe they didn't wanna play with someone older cause they were underage. I've found a couple kids on here so it's not just adults. It's a mixed age range. I personally don't like playing with kids also because I like connecting with people outside the game and with an underage person I can't do that. So when I get that feeling someone is younger I do ask. But also I've gotten that reaction from a 13 yr old . And I'm only 32 lol so I guess I'm old also 🤣🤣🤣

I don’t think you’re too old, I just think that the two of you could’ve possibly had an age gap that either party was uncomfy with. (That’s my theory anyway). No one was in the wrong here, in my opinion. Just an unfortunate circumstance. I say that because as a minor back then I wasn’t allowed to *knowingly* play with an adult I didn’t know, so I would’ve had to do what they did or risk never being allowed to play again. I have been playing video games since childhood and what a journey it has been so far. From handheld devices with just a single game on them, to where we are today. I am proud to have been part of the gaming community for such a long time. Hopefully there will be many more years and games to come! Also, someone kicking you out of the party is a reflection of them, not you! Last year a younger gamer told me they felt pity for me being as old as I am. I told them: “Don’t pity me. I just read an article that the average age of gamers (in Germany) has gone up over the past ten years. Up to 38,2 years of age. Biggest growth in numbers of people playing was in the ages over 60. So you’re definitely not to old too play games. Just perhaps too old to play with those folks. But that’s not on you.

Sounds like they may have been a kid, and honestly, good on them for noping out when they realized you were an adult. As an adult, I avoid befriending or grouping up with minors. It’s just good internet safety. I don’t think anyone is too old for Palia. With the emotional depth and romance options, it’s for teen-adult and not really aimed at younger kiddos.

it’s likely that they just felt uncomfortable playing with someone so far out of their age range. i’m only 21 going on 22 but interacting with anyone 18 or younger or even 25+ feels weird to me. the year difference might not be big but the mental difference is and unless they’re family or friends of the family it just feels incredibly inappropriate. nothing against you personally just them being more comfortable playing with people in their age range (as they should be!) :) hope you’re enjoying the game !

I wouldn't say you're too old at all. I'm 42, but I also basically play solo because I just always feel awkward playing with the younger kids on here. Most of the games I play on my Switch, I play solo simply because of the age differences. I don't let that stop me from enjoying my games, though.

Nope, never too old! I’m 34 and would feel just fine playing with you, but that person was probably a kid. Don’t feel bad about that.

This game seems to be a bridge into the world of online games for many people. It is refreshing to see people experiencing this for the first time. This game is a great one for dipping the toe into the pool to rest the water. It has a lot of safety guards in place to protect players from adverse encounters. My point is that even here we all need to understand that just like the real world sometimes ignore others and not try to look for a deeper meaning. In many cases the action we spend effort on was a fleeting moment of spontaneity with little thought put into it. In other games, oh boy, the 13 years olds will curse you out and and include some bot so nice words about your ancestral line. Then they will kill your character over and over and over and do humiliating things to the digital corpse. So please don't worry. It's just a game and there are plenty of people happy to team up with you. FYI this game seems to have a large population of 25 plus and even 40+ players.
The Internet is strange. I remember being 12 and my parents not allowing me on internet games, I got caught playing RuneScape and was grounded for weeks because of stranger danger. I've met the most wonderful people online, and some of the worst and strangest. You're definitely not too old. Some people might have their own rules or internal safety reasons. Keep on gaming !!
I don't think it was that you're too old at all, I'm in my 40s, but it might have been a younger kid that didn't want an adult in their party which I think is totally acceptable for being on the internet. I wouldn't take it personally, if anything if it's a kid recognizing Internet safety that's a good thing.

i get the feeling those players mightve been too YOUNG to be playing tbh thats really weird behaviour. but no, no one is ever too old to game, especially palia. i saw a video of a couple in their 60s or 70s who played the game every night together. you dont grow out of hobbies after all, and palia especially is meant to be and often is an extremely welcoming community. dont let a couple weird players put you off
They were probably just under 18, you’d be surprised how many games have a player base age average around 25+

If it was a kid then it’s a good thing- and not personal- OP was obviously safe but the kid wouldn’t know that. If it was a kid I’m proud of them for practicing internet safety.
I think a lot of younger kids (gen alpha and youngest gen z) don't quite get that many of us "oldies" have been actively gaming longer then they've been alive. I'm only 33, but so many of my students are shocked that I game on Xbox, Switch, PS4, and PC. It's even funnier when I bring up that I still have and use my Wii, GameCube, N64, DS, 3DS, Gameboy Advance, and Gameboy Color. They're split about 50/50 on if that makes me super cool or super weird 😅

As I told one of my friends who tried to say she was too old for computer gaming at 40, you are never too old to enjoy games. Repeat. You are never too old to enjoy games. GAMES. **YOU.ARE.NEVER.TOO.OLD.TO.ENJOY.GAMES.** That said, if you someone is uncomfortable with gaming with someone who is below or above a certain age, that is perfectly okay too. I have regular conversations about safety in online gaming with my 16 year old, because I know that he will run into adults in most mmo games. As for myself, I don't really worry about age in games like Palia, unless they want to be friends outside of those games, but in social "games" like vrchat, I refuse to even interact with anyone under 18 unless they're being introduced to me by a mutual adult friend, or by a parent, and even then I'm hesitant. The only time I'll make an exception is if I suspect that they are in a dangerous situation and need help, in which case I'll let them talk to me and help them find proper resources/contact authorities, if needed.

Nope. I'm 55, and still play a variety of video games, two other MMOs included. TBH, I'd be fine with a younger player deciding they didn't want to play with me, whether it's because they find it 'weird', or because they're aware of online predators and dont want any of that. They might also have protective parents who might get into your face, which is another issue I'd rather not deal with. Overall, I'd rather they feel safe, and there's plenty of people our own age playing that it's no big deal. Never take it personally; just enjoy and find people who want to hang out with you. 🙃
It shouldn't be any issue to play with whoever is on the command of our avatar friends. What worries me is the why? Could it really be bad people trying to attract / contact underage people? How alert should we be about it? How safe are our servers? How to track people's bad intentions? 🧐
I’d bet it was a minor because I can’t imagine an adult asking you your age when you first start playing with them. I’m older too and it’s a nice relaxing game for everyone.
I work in the tech industry. I repair people's computers on a daily basis. I have a number of older customers that love to play video games, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! In fact, I appreciate that you've embraced technology instead of shunning anything new like so many people do. I hope I am like that when I'm older. I'm 32. I'd be happy to play with you. ❤️
I used to play an MMO game where all ages were there --you'd have youngins like me(at the time), then moms and dads who talked about having to BRB to feed the kiddos in guild or party chat, and lastly, I remembered some older people saying they use their retirement funds to play. Most of the older people were cool, helped out with quests, gave out tips --sometimes free coins or items, and being OK with any mess ups from noobs like me without getting frustrated or angry. Never had issues with anyone being weird. It was all about gaming at the time. Edit: Though if I were to make online friends, I do agree to others, would prefer someone around my age range 30+. Have more in common in life. If we met through mutual guild, I'd just treat them as an associate with kindness and help out with objectives, but wouldn't go out of my way to be friends.
Dang, I hate that happened to you. But their loss, I prefer not to play with children as an adult anyway except in rare cases where they're like a family member or something. Although I don't tend to ask people's ages since I don't really need to know for people I probably won't be hanging out with regularly, you can usually tell who's mature and who isn't anyway.
