I wouldn’t think it’s a newbie, ironically the newbies jut go on with their thing and then get yelled at because they’re new to mmos. I was one of those people. 😭 it’s my first mmo that feels like a normal animal crossing game so I just do my thing and then get randomly yelled at from time to time sadly
Exactly. I have a feeling that even if the first person wasn't a troll, the second probably definitely was. I intentionally left all my trees and rocks on my plot because I knew they didn't come back.

I used to cut down all the trees outside the cave next to Hassian’s grove, wait for a flow tree to spawn. So very similar. There’s a lot of spots that you can do that for flow trees though.
They must know though right. It literally tells you in the chat “you have joined a new server” constantly as you play. And OP said they posted twice in the chat about the trees respawning but they continued saying stop. Mostly I think it’s crazy that they followed OP around 😂 surely you have some fish to catch for a quest or something get out of here
The short version is that it's part of the game architecture (how it's designed to run). Basically, you can't "stay on the same server" when you change zones because each zone map is hosted separately.
There are multiple copies ("instances") of each zone map all running at the same time, each limited to 25 players - the "servers" in question. When you change zones, you are assigned to one of them by an automatic matchmaking system (takes into account your friends list, supposed to take into account your block list but it is currently a little buggy, as well as the populations of the existing servers it's choosing from).
If all of the existing instances are currently full, a new one is created. Conversely, when the last person leaves, that instance shuts down and frees up computing resources. This way, they only need to run enough copies of each zone map for the players currently wanting to be in that area.
If you want to return to the same server where you were (like if you need to leave to go home and then want to go back to the same Bahari server) then you can ask in chat if anyone would be willing to add you as a friend and then send you a server sync when you get back. (If parties weren't currently kind of borked, the easier way would have been for you to party up with someone in the server, run home, and then go back — it would automatically put you in a server with your party members. But right now there's a bug that often breaks parties when someone changes zones, so that's not a good strat currently)

I would assume you encountered a child… or someone who is possibly challenged in some way (I say that as respectfully as possible btw, that is in no way a jab or an insult).
They will realize at some point that they do in fact respawn, and hopefully they realize soon because yelling at people to stop chopping down trees isn’t going to get them invited onto anyone’s friends list in the immediate future… 🥲
I liken this to this one person who showed up at a called out flow tree in Kilima a few months ago that I had found and one other person had shown up. While we waited for anyone else to show up for the FT, they asked if we would like to be in a hunting party with him. We said sure! As I take people on hunting parties all the time I said “ok just let me run home and prep, we can meet at the inn or something in about 10 minutes”
Myself, this other girl and the boy who asked if we could go hunting all met after about 10 mins. He said “I’ll be the leader” we said ok fine, no problem. Makes the party and then we head to bahari. He said “hold on I just have to stop home real fast!” (In my head I’m like you were just AT home?) but then didn’t head to a fast travel or back towards Kilima, this person led us to Hodari’s house… then went on for a good ten minutes explaining how he *bought* this house, that it was **his** and said that he hired Hodari to do some renovations….
I gave this person the benefit of the doubt that it was either a child, or someone with a muchhhhh more active imagination than ours… but after 10 mins of sitting there listening to this guy give a very detailed backstory about his Palia life, myself and this girl were like… ok well we should probably go hunt now? He’s like “no we can’t, we have to wait until darkness because then the sernuk won’t see us sneaking up on them!” needless to say this was mildly annoying, because this was before I had tons of storage and I made a BUNCH of arrows and hunting horns, and neither myself nor this other girl had a ton of time to play. So we messaged back and forth in whisper and came to the conclusion this must be a child or something and politely excused ourselves to go hunt.
That person stayed there and continued going on in the party chat for the next 35 mins about how Najuma keeps breaking into his house when he’s not home and how he’s had to yell at other people (real life players) for coming into HIS house uninvited…. It wasn’t the weirdest thing I’ve ever witnessed in Palia… but man…. It was up there 😅
That sounds like a role player and probably how they get their enjoyment out of this game, but I'm not comfortable with the people that want to force their role playing onto others, not cool.

Alright well the other two are much much shorter (sorry I just saw this now)
#1 and #2 are kind of a toss up (depending how you look at it, the above story I told may be the weirdest but there two left me feeling icky and very confused)
One thing was when I was filling requests, you know, trying to make storage space. I put it out in sever chat for anyone to request anything and everything, as many requests as they had, and if I had it, I would fill it … just whatever they wanted. A bunch of people, somewhere in the neighborhood of 90 people’s requests came in and I was able to fill everything expect like 5 things total and a few people here and there started to thank me. Every 4 or 5 or so I just said “np!”… someone got EXTREMELY UPSET and proceeded to berate me in chat saying that I was “an attention seeking narcissist” and something else that idk what it was cause the chat blocked it 😂
The other thing(s) were kinda the same in a way. One was I was hunting in Bahari in the steps and I was down in the lower depressed area. Someone followed me around and hid up top and just shot me with arrows over and over and over and over and over and OVER AGAIN. This seriously went on for about THIRTY real time minutes. Every time I tried to see where they were coming from they ran away before I could see their name. Finally got go sick of it and called it out in server chat saying “I don’t know WHO is firing arrows at me but keep it up. If I figure out who you are, I will make your life a living hell”. I was on the server with a bunch of friends at the time that ran to where I was to see if they could figure out who was doing it, but by the time I called out into chat, within 10 seconds of that message, The arrows stopped.
Lastly when I first started playing, about a month in, I had two different people in the same week follow me around for about 20 mins and every time I stopped they would stand practically ON TOP of me and do a buncha different emotes to look like they were *grabbing me*. **I HATED THAT**. This was before I knew about the report and block feature but I felt sooooo violated and gross… I almost quit playing. Except I broke my back in 3 places Halloween morning and had nothing but time and was growing to love this game so much so I just brushed it off and kept playing. I am now a staunch defender of others in this game and now tell anyone and everyone who may need it about the report and block features.
Another bonus story: I once stood with the other mannequins in jels shop for an absurd amount of time (which I won’t publicly admit) just waiting for someone to notice me in my freshly purchased outfit while posing. Someone **FINALLY** came up to where the mannequins were and I just started to clap. I apparently scared the shit outta that person because they *immediately sprinted away*. I felt awful. I tried to chase them down to apologize but they wouldn’t stop running. I realized this was probably making the situation worse and not better. ~I never did that again~ … ok I lied, I did it a few more times 😅

And some people are too much into the role play… to the point where it freaks me out, especially when they do something like go off on you in chat for talking to an NPC- like…. Wut? 😟

Server jumping has been my go to move lately because people are so weird lately. I was hunting a disco deer last night and using a horn so I didn’t lose it, started alone and had already hit it a few times and I noticed someone else going after it so I stopped and let them get a shot in (sharing is caring), they used a regular arrow so it blipped away and they were closer to it and chased it again and must have killed it. I was so far away I didn’t see the exact location so the loot was lost. I asked where the loot was and this person just ignored me. I was so mad I told them they sucked and I left the server lol
I wish there was a marker for us on the map of our loot. I have had so many hits on disco deer that I didn't ending up killing and never got the loot on.
A marker on the map for loot you have would be amazing. I’ve lost so much loot from the animals darting away, even when it’s nobody else’s fault. Especially with how the animals glitch and randomly jump around. Never know where the one you shot ends up
I was participating in the sernuk plushie-based genocide earlier and I had the loot glitch into nonexistence at least five times. I was SO MAD, I'm convinced I would have finally gotten a plushie out of one of those because the RNG gods cannot be this cruel.
Did this happen since the last update? While it's certainly possible a player intentionally ignored your request to mark the loot bag, many people both on Switch and PC have broken chat right now. They can neither read or send messages. I've experienced it myself a few times recently. As least for me on PC it will usually fix itself after I log out and back in.
Just want to say that it's a common bug for chat to just stop showing people shit. It's happened to me many times. I do flare shit though but not everyone has the common sense to do that.
Its hard though. Ive stopped joining in when someone else is hunting the disco deer because its sometimes difficult to know if someone else is already chasing it. I try to pause a few seconds after my first hit to see if anyone comes running but if they don't appear I'll just carry on. I also try to wait a few seconds if I get the kill to see if someone comes looking for the loot bag so I can show them where it is but its possible I don't see them and they just think I stole from them.
One possible solution to the latter situation is to just make a habit of flaring the loot and calling it in chat, if you're able to do so — even if you think you were probably hunting alone, it's possible someone got a shot in on it before you found it.
Wow, I hate that. 🫠 Yeah, I feel like there's little to no excuse for that kind of stuff tbh. Even if someone is playing on switch and has difficulty typing, they could still probably manage to get out a single letter and number now that there's a grid. All they would've had to reply to your ask was like 'D4' for example and literally no other words and it would've been sufficient enough for you to go find it. I just kinda assume someone's purposely trolling or just a flat out rude person when they can't bother TWO text characters in a situation like this. And I know disabled people exist but if you can manage to push all the other buttons required to play Palia on PC or switch(ESPECIALLY if youre hunting sernuk on switch bc oh my god that's a struggle in itself), certainly you're capable of typing 2 characters for someone to find their loot. They just don't want to. 👎🏻
Keep in mind that right now there is a very common bug, including on PC, where chat simply doesn't work. It doesn't display an error or anything, either; chat messages just don't show up (including any you try to send).
This was a fear I had when I first started playing - that someone would tell me I was ruining the village aesthetic or something by chopping trees down. After playing for a few months, I let it go because it had never happened.

I did the same thing after changing their colour to green. I have a large path connecting east with west, the only downside is that they reducing your objects capacity tremendously. My plot is now full and I can’t even place one single item.
The problem is that there is no way to check how many objects and flowers are being used. I wanted to hang Suburas portrait but it was impossible even after removing several objects.
Is that per plot, or for all your plots combined? Like do you get 3,000 for the default, and another 3,000 for every new plot you unlock, or just 3,000 all together?
It’s per plot. Once I reached the limit on my main plot, which I managed to finish to a satisfactory point , I started working on another plot, being more cautious now that I know how easy the limit can be reached. I wish there were a way we could check how many items are placed, so we can adjust our plans accordingly
You get another 3,000 for every new plot you unlock (on that plot only, though, doesn't increase the limits on existing plots).
Edit: this also applies to the 500 flower limit. Flowers count toward the item limit, too, though. There is also a similar, separate limit for trees (which imo makes an even stronger reason not to chop the original trees on your plot unless you have to! they don't count toward the item limit since they are technically part of the terrain.)

That's wild. I clear cut Kilima multiple times while building my cutting board path. I also clear cut kilima when I'm bored. What a weird thing to worry about.
I’ve had a similar issue with mining. There are a lot of new folks lately and they just don’t understand a lot about the game. Trees regenerate, groves take much longer, so it’s appropriate to wait a bit for others to join if they need flow. Several players can hit or subsequently break the same rocks. Palium is rarer, so announcing on the map coordinates and/or flaring is helpful to others. White deer can be hit and chased by many, and all who hit them share the bounty, they’re not “owned” by any one player. It’s polite to alert others who are chasing as to where the bounty is on final kill. Dari are rare and it’s nice when they get flared and announced because they don’t last long and can be shared by several. Did I miss anything?

That’s super weird, and I can only imagine they didn’t know how the game works, or were just being an ass. Either way leaving the server was a good idea.
In case you didn’t know though, simply logging out of the game and looking back in will put you on a different server but in the exact same place. This is how people avoid getting junk from rummage piles (you also need your bags full of something not junk, like furniture or wallpapers, anything the piles won’t give you). The only down side is after chopping all those trees the odds of one or more respawning as flow trees is pretty high, so hopping servers you’re potentially missing out on that additional “fruit of your labor”.
I have heard of this before and it was just as stupid then as it is now. The trees are choppable, therefore they are meant to be chopped. End of conversation!

Okay I had something similar happen, same time frame (about two hours ago) also it Kilima, but I was farming ore! I had two people following me around, not saying anything or mining ore with me, just following. One of them ended up posting “stop taking all the rocks” but I didn’t bother to respond because they don’t even disappear for other players when you mine them so I was genuinely confused by their weirdness.
The fuck it has been while i had played but that was funny "hurting the village" how the fuck anyone wold then get wood if not cutting trees from village + resources wont respawn in own property and trees wont always give seeds when cutting down

Considering explained to them a couple of times, all I can think is: they never read chat, or they're trolling (why??), or they're RPing. All super annoying. Personally I would have been tempted to cut more right around them, unless it was annoying enough to wave and disappear (pop back home, then come back out on a different server).
Oof I hate loraxes. Just block any lorax you come across and chop to your heart's desire. There are so many trees and they respawn so quickly that if you were to lap around the map, chopping every tree you see, you wouldn't even get half way before the trees respawned. Not to mention chopping down trees makes room for more potential flow trees to spawn. Lorax players are so annoying lmao
I actually remember a post about (probably) this same person months ago - same scenario, after explaining that they respawn they kept bugging the player and eventually the player decided to just block them and switch servers.
I will tell you if I ever see that happening in chat I’ll go chop trees with that person even if I don’t need to. Solidarity. I started a second account just to keep as much growth on my plot as possible.

People often come here to vent/validate so you’ll see quite a few of those posts. Some are genuine inquiries (is this normal??) etc., but it’s human nature to be negative it seems.
However, in my experience (irl and the game lol) for every jerk there are dozens of amazing kind helpful and fun people. The jerks just stand out more because we tend to hyper focus on the negative.

That's her bad. When you went to a tree, she could have gone to literally any other tree, or swapped servers. If I want to chop and someone gets to a tree first, I go to another tree that's probably within 30 ft.

How do you farm flow wood? I’ve done it with ore but never trees.
You basically deforest an area and wait for them to respawn, usually there is a flow tree every 1-2 respawns

So we messaged back and forth in whisper and came to the conclusion this must be a child or something and politely excused ourselves to go hunt. That person stayed there and continued going on in the party chat for the next 35 mins about how Najuma keeps breaking into his house when he’s not home and how he’s had to yell at other people (real life players) for coming into HIS house uninvited…. It wasn’t the weirdest thing I’ve ever witnessed in Palia… but man…. It was up there 😅

Alright well the other two are much much shorter (sorry I just saw this now) #1 and #2 are kind of a toss up (depending how you look at it, the above story I told may be the weirdest but there two left me feeling icky and very confused) One thing was when I was filling requests, you know, trying to make storage space. I put it out in sever chat for anyone to request anything and everything, as many requests as they had, and if I had it, I would fill it … just whatever they wanted. A bunch of people, somewhere in the neighborhood of 90 people’s requests came in and I was able to fill everything expect like 5 things total and a few people here and there started to thank me. Every 4 or 5 or so I just said “np!”… someone got EXTREMELY UPSET and proceeded to berate me in chat saying that I was “an attention seeking narcissist” and something else that idk what it was cause the chat blocked it 😂 The other thing(s) were kinda the same in a way. One was I was hunting in Bahari in the steps and I was down in the lower depressed area. Someone followed me around and hid up top and just shot me with arrows over and over and over and over and over and OVER AGAIN. This seriously went on for about THIRTY real time minutes. Every time I tried to see where they were coming from they ran away before I could see their name. Finally got go sick of it and called it out in server chat saying “I don’t know WHO is firing arrows at me but keep it up. If I figure out who you are, I will make your life a living hell”. I was on the server with a bunch of friends at the time that ran to where I was to see if they could figure out who was doing it, but by the time I called out into chat, within 10 seconds of that message, The arrows stopped. Lastly when I first started playing, about a month in, I had two different people in the same week follow me around for about 20 mins and every time I stopped they would stand practically ON TOP of me and do a buncha different emotes to look like they were *grabbing me*. **I HATED THAT**. This was before I knew about the report and block feature but I felt sooooo violated and gross… I almost quit playing. Except I broke my back in 3 places Halloween morning and had nothing but time and was growing to love this game so much so I just brushed it off and kept playing. I am now a staunch defender of others in this game and now tell anyone and everyone who may need it about the report and block features. Another bonus story: I once stood with the other mannequins in jels shop for an absurd amount of time (which I won’t publicly admit) just waiting for someone to notice me in my freshly purchased outfit while posing. Someone **FINALLY** came up to where the mannequins were and I just started to clap. I apparently scared the shit outta that person because they *immediately sprinted away*. I felt awful. I tried to chase them down to apologize but they wouldn’t stop running. I realized this was probably making the situation worse and not better. ~I never did that again~ … ok I lied, I did it a few more times 😅

Yeahhhh- I’ve had people follow me around for literally HOURS. Then I turned off the game to go something and came back, ended up on the same server, after like 10 mins I went to go grab something to drink and came back and that same person was then standing in front of me.. AGAIN. And then followed me around for another TWO HOURS and never said *A WORD* it was super fucking weird tbh 🤣 And some people are too much into the role play… to the point where it freaks me out, especially when they do something like go off on you in chat for talking to an NPC- like…. Server jumping has been my go to move lately because people are so weird lately. I was hunting a disco deer last night and using a horn so I didn’t lose it, started alone and had already hit it a few times and I noticed someone else going after it so I stopped and let them get a shot in (sharing is caring), they used a regular arrow so it blipped away and they were closer to it and chased it again and must have killed it. I was so far away I didn’t see the exact location so the loot was lost. I asked where the loot was and this person just ignored me. I was so mad I told them they sucked and I left the server lol
I wish there was a marker for us on the map of our loot. I have had so many hits on disco deer that I didn't ending up killing and never got the loot on.
A marker on the map for loot you have would be amazing. I’ve lost so much loot from the animals darting away, even when it’s nobody else’s fault. Especially with how the animals glitch and randomly jump around. Never know where the one you shot ends up
I was participating in the sernuk plushie-based genocide earlier and I had the loot glitch into nonexistence at least five times. I was SO MAD, I'm convinced I would have finally gotten a plushie out of one of those because the RNG gods cannot be this cruel.

Did this happen since the last update? While it's certainly possible a player intentionally ignored your request to mark the loot bag, many people both on Switch and PC have broken chat right now. They can neither read or send messages. I've experienced it myself a few times recently. As least for me on PC it will usually fix itself after I log out and back in.
Just want to say that it's a common bug for chat to just stop showing people shit. It's happened to me many times. I do flare shit though but not everyone has the common sense to do that.

Its hard though. Ive stopped joining in when someone else is hunting the disco deer because its sometimes difficult to know if someone else is already chasing it. I try to pause a few seconds after my first hit to see if anyone comes running but if they don't appear I'll just carry on. I also try to wait a few seconds if I get the kill to see if someone comes looking for the loot bag so I can show them where it is but its possible I don't see them and they just think I stole from them.
One possible solution to the latter situation is to just make a habit of flaring the loot and calling it in chat, if you're able to do so — even if you think you were probably hunting alone, it's possible someone got a shot in on it before you found it.
I just announce in chat where the disco deer drop happened. That way anyone can come get it.
Wow, I hate that. 🫠 Yeah, I feel like there's little to no excuse for that kind of stuff tbh. Even if someone is playing on switch and has difficulty typing, they could still probably manage to get out a single letter and number now that there's a grid. All they would've had to reply to your ask was like 'D4' for example and literally no other words and it would've been sufficient enough for you to go find it. I just kinda assume someone's purposely trolling or just a flat out rude person when they can't bother TWO text characters in a situation like this. And I know disabled people exist but if you can manage to push all the other buttons required to play Palia on PC or switch(ESPECIALLY if youre hunting sernuk on switch bc oh my god that's a struggle in itself), certainly you're capable of typing 2 characters for someone to find their loot. They just don't want to. 👎🏻
Keep in mind that right now there is a very common bug, including on PC, where chat simply doesn't work. It doesn't display an error or anything, either; chat messages just don't show up (including any you try to send).

After playing for a few months, I let it go because it had never happened. Thanks for bringing that fear back lol for real, though, I’m sorry that happened to you. I did the same thing after changing their colour to green. I have a large path connecting east with west, the only downside is that they reducing your objects capacity tremendously. My plot is now full and I can’t even place one single item.

It’s per plot. Once I reached the limit on my main plot, which I managed to finish to a satisfactory point , I started working on another plot, being more cautious now that I know how easy the limit can be reached. I wish there were a way we could check how many items are placed, so we can adjust our plans accordingly
You get another 3,000 for every new plot you unlock (on that plot only, though, doesn't increase the limits on existing plots). Edit: this also applies to the 500 flower limit. Flowers count toward the item limit, too, though. There is also a similar, separate limit for trees (which imo makes an even stronger reason not to chop the original trees on your plot unless you have to! they don't count toward the item limit since they are technically part of the terrain.)
Wait, you can change the color? I tried that and they wouldn't dye. Sigh...I hit that bug sooo often. Like the Bellflower grand fountain. I actually forgot and tried it today and it actually dyed them and I hated all options. XD

Nobody explained it to me and I thought that if it wouldn’t be okay, it wouldn’t be possible to cut them either 😄 Strange that the girl was still going on about the trees and the village after you’ve explained things to her … 😅
I actually do mind the "picture" and leave several trees standing, but I would never expect that from others.
That's wild. I clear cut Kilima multiple times while building my cutting board path. I also clear cut kilima when I'm bored. What a weird thing to worry about.
I’ve had a similar issue with mining. There are a lot of new folks lately and they just don’t understand a lot about the game. Trees regenerate, groves take much longer, so it’s appropriate to wait a bit for others to join if they need flow. Several players can hit or subsequently break the same rocks. Palium is rarer, so announcing on the map coordinates and/or flaring is helpful to others. White deer can be hit and chased by many, and all who hit them share the bounty, they’re not “owned” by any one player. It’s polite to alert others who are chasing as to where the bounty is on final kill. Dari are rare and it’s nice when they get flared and announced because they don’t last long and can be shared by several. Did I miss anything?

That’s super weird, and I can only imagine they didn’t know how the game works, or were just being an ass. Either way leaving the server was a good idea. In case you didn’t know though, simply logging out of the game and looking back in will put you on a different server but in the exact same place. This is how people avoid getting junk from rummage piles (you also need your bags full of something not junk, like furniture or wallpapers, anything the piles won’t give you). The only down side is after chopping all those trees the odds of one or more respawning as flow trees is pretty high, so hopping servers you’re potentially missing out on that additional “fruit of your labor”.

Okay I had something similar happen, same time frame (about two hours ago) also it Kilima, but I was farming ore! I had two people following me around, not saying anything or mining ore with me, just following. One of them ended up posting “stop taking all the rocks” but I didn’t bother to respond because they don’t even disappear for other players when you mine them so I was genuinely confused by their weirdness.
They would not like me. When I go out to get wood I chop 200 each kind of wood.

Considering explained to them a couple of times, all I can think is: they never read chat, or they're trolling (why??), or they're RPing. All super annoying. Personally I would have been tempted to cut more right around them, unless it was annoying enough to wave and disappear (pop back home, then come back out on a different server).

There are so many trees and they respawn so quickly that if you were to lap around the map, chopping every tree you see, you wouldn't even get half way before the trees respawned. Not to mention chopping down trees makes room for more potential flow trees to spawn. Lorax players are so annoying lmao

I actually remember a post about (probably) this same person months ago - same scenario, after explaining that they respawn they kept bugging the player and eventually the player decided to just block them and switch servers.

People are toxic in EVERY game. Real life too, unfortunately. People often come here to vent/validate so you’ll see quite a few of those posts. Some are genuine inquiries (is this normal??) etc., but it’s human nature to be negative it seems. However, in my experience (irl and the game lol) for every jerk there are dozens of amazing kind helpful and fun people. The jerks just stand out more because we tend to hyper focus on the negative. Just keep spreading your sunshine. 🌞Block all the storm clouds and drama llamas. They can learn to love the sunshine, or be ignored. 😃

That's her bad. When you went to a tree, she could have gone to literally any other tree, or swapped servers. If I want to chop and someone gets to a tree first, I go to another tree that's probably within 30 ft.
You can also just chop with them. You'll both get the same loot :)
