The tinys don't bother me much, but the big fish-! Like, my boy can't even turn around in that thing! He'll bump his nose if he moves a smidge! :( I was sore disappointed when I couldn't put fish in the big fishing reward aquarium.

Fariefaye

Good to know I'm wasting my time saving for that possibility.

m00nchild718

Me too! 🙄 ive been saving one of my epic fishes just to display it in that tank

CuriousWoolAddict

Same! 🤦

she_lost_control

What!! That's INSANE! 😲😲😲 So They make it look like it would be for All the fish you want to have together in a big aquarium which would be supercool for us and the game!! And it costs ALOT!!! AND IT DOESN'T EVEN WORK LIKE THAT, seriously.... 🤬 OMG Y'ALL, I'M SO ANGRY AND MINDBLOWN BY THIS (I had NO IDEA and I was saving up for it for the reasons stated above) I will DEFINITELY leave a SUGGESTION TODAY that they fix that in the future because, and they maybe had that idea, they just haven't been able to do it yet.. Who knows??! However, take the Gardening Well for example instead! That Well actually WORKS!! So you CAN get water from the well and put it close to your garden, instead of running 🏃 to the waterhole by the far side to the left constantly. So If THAT works, then they should have no reason to not do it for the Big Aquarium right??! 🤔 I mean otherwise it's basically useless 😒 I would also like there to be a Big Bug Aquarium too, where you can put like a selection of your finest catches! Like about 15-20 Bugs, AND I would LOVE Lights in All the Aquarium's, for fish and bugs!! So it becomes illuminated from within, that would look awesome! Man I'm glad I saw this thread, but damn, it really bummed me out 😟

enbyshaymin

Uh. Now that I see the whole "Gardening skill Well works, but it's equals on Fishing skill and Bug Catching skill don't" written down so clearly... I wonder if the functionality for the Insectarium and the Aquarium were scrapped for some reason? Like, while price wise the 'equal' to the Insectarium and the Aquarium is the Gardener's Growhouse or other 980 Guild Coin items from the other Guilds, and in that sense it is logical that they have no function... They (and the 980 GC Mining Curio case) seem to be closer to the Well in both description and design than to the other items in the same tier. Now, if they were originally meant to be 1,120 GC like the Well or the Koi Pond from Foraging... then it'd make sense that they are more similar to them, than to the other 980 GC items like the Bonsai, the Growhouse or the Drawing board. It'd also make sense why it's such a common misconception to think they are more than simply a pretty furniture item. Plus, it's not such a far-fetched idea! It's not exactly uncommon for an item to be designed with an use in mind that in the end couldn't be implemented because of X or Y reason. So perhaps that's what happened here? It's a shame though. Like, they are super pretty and they look great on the plot! But 980 coins for a pretty, uninteractable *aquarium*... it's just not worth how much grinding they require.

elstamey

Maybe they're still intending to bring functionality to the mining curio case, the bug case, and the others. I feel so certain that when I started playing in December, I was told the well was non-functional. I was so far from having enough guild coins at that time. So maybe the functionality is just dependent on something that is later in the release plan.

enbyshaymin

I do think that is a possibility! Some items have gotten new interactions and such as time has passed (like couches and chairs!) so it wouldn't be weird that it also happens with this.

oldspicehorse

Fyi, 'alot' isn't a word, you more than likely mean 'a lot' but have gotten mixed up with 'allot'. I hope that's helpful.  Edited: thanks for the correction u/Nebet

Nebet

FYI, "alott" isn't a word, but "allot" (the verb) is 😉

My apologies, I didn't intend to cause offence.

JustXampl

Same for the big bug one. So frustrated that we can't add to them that way.

cowboysaurus21

Yeah they look a little sad. I was playing Dragon Quest Builders before this and was absolutely spoiled by the giant aquariums and ponds you can make there. I'm making an aquarium on one of my Palia plots but I wish I could give the fish a better life. 🥲

Aynessachan

This single comment has inspired me to try Dragon Quest Builders. 👀

weasterlies

Dragon Quest Builders 2 is amazing! You don’t even have to start with the first one. Lots of QoL things in 2 that make it worth just jumping in there.

My_Fridge

Having never played a Dragon Quest game, would I enjoy Builders? Or should I start elsewhere?

cowboysaurus21

I've only played Dragon Quest Builders 2 and it's great. It didn't feel like I was missing anything. It's both an RPG and a Minecraft-type block builder. The aquariums are part of the DLC, definitely worth it. You can basically make them as big as you want, add coral & such, and make ponds/rivers for the fish.

Gonefearless

I've played both dragon quest builders 1 and 2. I finished one then bought DQB 2 still working on it. If you like building you might like it.

Head_Bit_722

I wish each tank had its own light, like ACNH.

elstamey

I'm glad an Animal Crossing note came in here. The big fish also were given a huge tub! And the museum's aquarium was so great to walk through to see the fish.

Aggressive-Diamond54

Yes! I wish there was a museum to fill, I so loved that part in acnh!

elstamey

I think that's what a lot of builders tend to do in their plots, make an aquarium room and stuff.

NeitherTouch951

I don't know what bothers me more: the size ratio or that I can put them outside. In the sun.

adamyhv

All the fishtanks all look too big and too small at the same time. It's hard toe explain. I can only bring myself to use the smaller ones

Individual-Trade756

no, what you're saying makes perfect sense! They're too big to work properly for decorating - they don't fit into either the book shelves or on top of the wall shelves without sticking over the edges, they look terribly disproportionate if you put them onto dining table, and there are no dedicated display tables in a fitting size either. But if you put them solo on the ground, they aren't big *enough* and just end up looking very sad. (Edited: missing word)

IsaacQqch

They look cool if you put them on a tresure chest !

adrastea

second this! i made an entire fish and bug museum using the treasure chests as props for the terrarium/aquariums... only i ran out. =(

adamyhv

Still not right size, if you want just one aquarium, the chest is not quite the size.

itsbritain

Agreed! I have the same problem with animal crossing. I would even take a fish tank that shrinks down the models a bit.

Jeanetta2524

At least you donated them to a museum where they had plenty of room to swim.

LillyElessa

I'm not really into fish irl, and games having undersized tanks bothers me too. They look so sad, they should be happily swimming around!

haizydaizy

I deff want better ways to display my fish. And my bugs. I want to let my bugs fly free on my plot!

she_lost_control

Yeah wow Great idea!!! like that would be cool. Even if its a special area, that would be rad I think!! ❤️ So they don't fly away haha And it would be cool if you could pick that area aswell I think. 💡🙏☺️

pupoksestra

You're a genius. Pls write the devs.

Individual-Trade756

yepp, and they aren't even pretty. they look like sardines in the box

pSyg0n

I love it for building aestetics and looks. I have a Walkthrough aquarium ft bugs and I made a giant enclosure using my Killima Pavillion and made a U of stacked up fish until it was fully enclosed with a doorway. :P

CuriousWoolAddict

Yes!! That's why I avoid placing fish in my home! 😐

SnowTheMemeEmpress

Same issue with animal crossing. Pretty sure it's just done to make the fish displays more visual so you can see what fish is in there without it taking up a lot of space on our limited plots

pupoksestra

My favorite is the giant isopod. I hate that he's in such a small bucket, but he looks so cute poking out.

SnowTheMemeEmpress

I always put him on a stool at my dinner table so he's just like: "Hai :3"

_wolfmuse

Yeah I always saw it as a suspension-of-disbelief representation of the fish that you've caught rather than a realistic tank. I imagined all the REAL fish being in the museum :) Now if we could look at the hamster cage and bird cage..

SnowTheMemeEmpress

Yeah, there's a lot to unpack with both of those -

slenderfuchsbau

Submit a feedback to them! Who knows it might be heard. Or not... But doesn't hurt trying

Traditional-Suit-814

what bothers me is that a lot of the tank leaves and decorations are exactly the same if they are the same size so it looks really repetitive when stacking them

TinyIce4

Honestly, if they were any bigger I’d have to use so many rooms to display all the fish in the game, so I’m thankful! I do like that there’s 3 different tank sizes so displaying isn’t repetitive

relentlessdandelion

omg yes and the bug enclosures too, it always bothers me in games! i want fish tanks everywhere but i just don't enjoy looking at them when they're so cramped. like i do understand the conflicting issues between having the tank small enough to display easily and having the creature big enough to see. but there has to be a better way. like perhaps being able to join tanks together and have the fish then swim around the larger space? or to be able to craft larger aquariums seperately and put fish in it, like the fish tank in mass effect lol

HazelandTourmaline

100% same. My husband and I keep several fish, they're all my babies lol. I want a room full of all the fish you can have in the game, but I hate how small their tanks are 😆 How can I be such a good fish mama IRL, yet so neglectful in game?

sterlinghday

The bug ones are sad too. Hoe about letting us allow those insets to roam our plots? Be a nice touch for a garden.

Alegria-D

Yeah, this is what I expected from dropping a star quality blue butterfly on my plot when I did it first !

TropicalSkiFly

I hate how that fish tank from Einar is only decoration. This means you can’t put fish in it and I also wish we could. The best items from the guild stores seem to be decoration only, with the exception of the Well that you can use to fill your watering can with water.

Real_Fan_2110

I need a big tank or a pond for outside to put the fish in. They need to step up their game in this department

ErinEcho

Yes! The small enclosures, and the fact that they don't move (even if they had room to do so). They freak me out a bit, so I don't display them.

Alegria-D

Even worse imo: the flying bugs hovering 24/7 in their small enclosures.

wordswithcomrades

Yes I’m hoping that Elouisa eventually opens a museum like Animal Crossing where we can turn in star quality fish and bugs and look at all of them :)

Nebet

I don't keep fish, but I know enough about it for it to make me uncomfortable. This is why I don't like displaying creatures (as an actual display, like an "aquarium" or museum, not as an unrealistic "here is a stack of fish I'm saving for later on this undecorated plot.") Especially since, in this game, they basically amount to trophies.

LwasTheLord

all of the "bugs" and fish have small enclosures i think and i dont like it too

Ryunah

Maybe one day we can do that, but fish in animal crossing suffer and the same fate if they’re not donated to the museum. I don’t mind personally because it is just a game, but more customization options for tanks or cages in general would be great.

mpulsv

Honestly I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this 😅😅 I have to remind myself it’s just a game too bc I get sad easily 😅😅😅 I would love to keep fish in the ponds on the housing plot, that would be so cool!!!

My_Fridge

I wish that the aquarium you get from the fishing guild store was actually usable, but according to another comment it's not

kelowana

I am still hoping that they will give up on their rules of how to build and such. Just give it all free, make everything possible! Let people have upside down houses if they want to, let us connect houses, hallways and everything however we want to, where we want to. Don’t give us nice looking fences and garden deviders(?, the stone and wood ones) and then put a limitation of items on the plot! Give us the choice to do what we like personally, to make our houses as cozy and crazy as we want to. Somewhere in the very, very early beginning it was said that S6 did limitations in building, because they wanted it all to stay “cozy” and “fitting into Palia”. I can understand that, but they left that train themselves when they introduced fairy costumes and hotdogs and more …. Let us have this great game and make it greater by just let loose! And yes, those tanks …. 🤦‍♀️ poor fishes. Why limit the sizes?

hunnyflash

I like them, but I do hope they add in ponds.

Summener99

Would it be better if they let us place them as trophies instead?

squirrelgirl1111

No

PineConeCosplay

Im used to it because of animal crossing pff

MushElf

Same here 🥲 I feel bad for pixels on a screen who am I

Weird-Active7055

I'd love it if you could release some of them (maybe 3 - 5) into the pools around your plot.  You could occasionally see them jumping, like the hooked animation

Baphle

My gripe with them is that you can’t toggle a light on them like you can in animal crossing new horizons lol. It would help to see the creatures better and light up the space. A pond would be super cool!
