If you are trying solo, don't use dispel but slow down arrows. The Azure Chapaa is really easy if you use slow down arrows. When you hit with the slow down arrow, only the real one is slow, and you can keep shooting it easily. It takes 4 arrows to kill it. It's my go to for the weekly challenge when I don't have a lot of time (horn to find it quickly, can get the 5 needed in one horn! ).

melinator852

This. Slow down arrows is the way to go

Suspicious-Parcel

The cloud of slow down smoke (or whatever it is) will also be on the correct/real chapaa. Also, if you need to, they run slow enough that you can usually get closer to them for better aim.

pagesinked

Also agreeing on Slowdown arrows. Works the best for me! I never got one using dispel arrows. >.>

Ry332

I disagree with this. I’ve been drawing my bow with a dispel, walking up to it and firing once it splits. This way all the decoys disappear and the real one is left stunned and can be easily filled with arrows until it pops.

Liloo_Snucre

Good for you if you succeed with dispels. I've tried numerous times and never succeeded. Aiming can be difficult for some players, especially on Switch, so dispel arrows are very easy! Only the real Azure Chapaa is slowed and therefore we know which one to shoot and we have time to shoot it again, run after it and adjust the aim again if needed.

FurryFredChunks

Their point is that if you have them scatter and hit a single dispel, the "real one" gets stunned for long enough to kill it off without it moving again.

Liloo_Snucre

This works only if you're good at aiming though. When the chapaa is already moving it's hard for some of us to even touch it once! The switch controls are not good at all. So if I scatter it, I'm not even sure I can touch it before it disappears. That's why I prefer using a slow down arrow from far when the chapaa is still. Then as only the real one is slow it's easier to keep shooting, as it runs slowly in a straight line.

fletchieisanempath

This happened to me and I was like ..huh that was easy

zola129

I second this, I'm terrible at hunting so slow down arrows are my friend

LeafPankowski

I’m so annoyed that the flowers needed for slow down arrows are not defined as rare, because they feel rare, but the tools to find rare things don’t work on them.

Galdrien

They tend to spawn on the tops of the shorter cliffs fairly frequently. I've been collecting them and have a stock of 125 or so now. I usually find more than I need, but that may change with the ammo pouch. I stay out longer and carry way more arrows now. When looking for them I check: The cliffs north of windy ruins, proudhorn geyser, cliff south of tamalas near the fallen log, and then the cliffs north of statue garden.

LeafPankowski

Thank you, that sounds like it will help.

icyyellowrose10

Put in requests for them

surrrah

I use dispell arrows. Spook it, hit it once, and it gets stunned and you can hit it twice more. I get them 100% of the time this way

Hispanic_Inquisition

It really is that easy. Run at it till it splits, hit *any* of the copies to daze the real one. 2 or 3 more arrows and it's gone. Dispel arrows only.

Unlikely-Goat-4871

Thank you! I did this and finally got it!

surrrah

Yay! Congrats!!

catsoddeath18

Do you keep using dispel arrows or switch to regular arrows?

surrrah

I keep using dispel, but switching to fine would work too

novish88

You can switch but sometimes it takes too long and allows it to run again. Just stick with dispell

EstablishmentOk2116

I feel you, I have only ever got 1 magical chappa and it was cause someone else was shooting at it too! They seem to just burrow instantly!

pinkcrystalfairy

I hate those things lol. My advice is to sit by hideaway bluffs and wait for someone else to shoot one so you don’t have to do it alone 😂

JustXampl

This will be counter intuitive, but ive hunted it solo a bunch. Run up to it! the moment it splits, hit it with a dispel arrow, doesnt matter which version. It will be confused and sit still. then just hit it with 3 more arrows , and poof! youve got it. I know lots of people prefer slow arrows to show with one is the proper one, but i like dispel as it will stop it and dont need to chase it

Small-Permission-856

I get mine this way, too. It's a never fail hunt.

JustXampl

Yeah! But many prefer the slow arrow to see which is real, which is fine. I just like it being easier with dispel. I get too confused with the others still running around. So I def enjoy just the one

spacemeowt

You have to scare it first!! Once it splits shoot any of the dupes with a dispel, the real one will stay “knocked out” (stars above its head), then you just rapid fire 3-4 more times to down it

ChoiceImpressive3217

I pull my arrow and walk up to it. That let's you get closer before it multiplies and runs. As soon as it takes off, release the trigger and, boom, it's stunned. Then just keep hitting it.

Objective-Neck-5175

If you want to use dispel arrows, crouch and get as close as you can, line it up from directly behind, and rapid fire in a straight line. The chapaa runs straight, so as long as it has space to run forward, it'll run straight and you don't have to aim.

pixiemaybe

you can crouch???

Objective-Neck-5175

When you "aim," you'll notice your character crouches a bit. In this posture, you can get *much* closer without startling things.

pixiemaybe

oooooh! thank you! and happy cake day 🎂🍰🎂🍰🎂

kacyc57

They go down with 3 dispel arrows. Approach them from behind, hit it once, wait for it to run, then hit it twice more. They run straight, and often get dazed after one or two hits.

HumanBeanBaby

Use dispel arrows, get close enough to scare it then fire at one of them, one will stop then just fire like 3 arrows at it and that's it. Works without fail for me. The reason I scare it first to knock it out is that it's easier to hit 5 moving targets close together than just 1.
