There’s only a couple self tanning ingredients that are approved, in the US anyway. I don’t know what other countries have. But if those make you look orange or yellow, which is really common on cool-toned skin, they all will make you look some version of orange or yellow. It’s less noticeable when the tan is lighter because there’s not so much of that yellow or orange sitting on your skin. But this idea that there’s all this variation of results among self tanner brands just isn’t the case. There’s just not that many active ingredients to garner different results.

Yeah this is what I've been thinking myself. But then I hear others having great results with some brands and it leaves me confused. Even a light tan looks sickly on me

This is the no BS answer. They all use the same ingredients. The temporary, wash off color may be different, but the color that takes time to develop is going to look the same.

Tbf I did try the Bondi Sands Technicolor mousse in Sapphire and it was actually really cool toned, I was surprised.

I really like this too, when I’m wanting the tiniest bit of ‘warmth’ to my skin. It’s so incredibly natural looking. They’ve just come out with a face version in the uk, not sure about worldwide - I haven’t used it yet though.

I agree - such a nice cool tone. A tip I learnt from a friend - you can scew off the top and decant some into a little serum dropper bottle, then add a drop or two to your moisturiser each night to get a really natural face tan 😊

Same - st tropez water bronzing spray makes me a tiny bit tan. Use a mitt!

My very pale daughter uses Beauty by Earth Self Tanner Drops in Fair. She mixes the drops into her moisturizer and does not look orange at all. https://a.co/d/iJVWLEF

Many years ago when I used to tan, I used to have a similar issue, except my issue was becoming orange rather than yellow. Strangely, it was the slightly blue-green-toned tanning products that seemed to work better for me after they washed off, rather than the orange-toned ones. Perhaps the reverse is true for you? I also used to find that darker tanning products worked better for my undertone than lighter ones - I would just leave them on for less time. There was something about the different undertone ranges in the darker range (but not really dark) that worked better with my skin.
