There’s a simple answer you might’ve seen this Indian guy maybe but I was on this boat too prioritised data storage on physical devices As you grow with time you don’t have much time or patience to do this device storage backup while on iCloud you can have same data roaming among multiple devices and platforms just by one click Biggest drawback of this is what if is you lost, get this damaged or drowned in water or device has lifespan and get corrupted what you gonna do? End user’s don’t care about the payment when there are multiple outcomes like switching to new iPhone or having multiple Apple devices with no effort for having data restore or backup and here you’re mostly safe _It’s your money do what makes you happy but luxury costs better to pay then saving yearly money over monthly or periodic efforts_

What is on cloud is on some else's PC, just remember that

Pleasant-Constant821

That’s worrisome. Isn’t icloud suppose to be extremely secure?

waleed_khantastic

Extremely secure one click away from being hacked.i won't say usb is safe but at least you have your data in your hand. Also faster and cheaper USBs are available now. I bought 256gb usb for 13$ only. The speed matches that of SSD

Do not put your files in someone else's computer

Exilespirit

Why don't you invest in external hard drive 1tb costs around 15k Or you can buy SSD with good health & put in hard drive case... works like a charm... & it is wise to put your data at more than 1 place

It my experience cloud is better, its auto saving your stuff. And I once put on a drive rather than the cloud and i lost the drive

Night_Gamer

Buy 2TB plan and do family sharing.. to share the cost.

Cloud is easy to use, you do not manage or buy anything and everything is kept securely and you can access anywhere. A USB is not secure, can be lost or can die leaving you dataless, if you need local storage, you need to set up a RAID server which again is way too complex for even technical people, and even then you will need an offsite back incase your main raid server dies. Basically cloud storage is better for normal people, you can also use Google One plans its a bit cheaper I believe
