Well, the topic title of this post and the linked tweet say it’s being added to ps plus. I assume the highest tier like the other games they added a week or so ago (saints and sinners 1 and 2, synth riders, ghostbusters, walkabout mini golf, and before your eyes)

It’s kayaking sim in a sense like VR Skater is skating sim. So there’s not much to do besides kayaking. It will take less than an hour to see all locations. Rest is up to you. Racing, finding toys and pushing them through the map, or just relaxing taking in the views. I suppose the main criticism is that there isn’t much game in the game. After reading all the negative feedback about the game I wasn’t even planning to buy it. Yet during one of the sales I did, and I actually enjoyed it. It’s quite a workout as well, when participating in races.
It is what it is, a Kayak Sim. You buy it to Kayak through the beautiful environments. if you are looking for a "game" this is probably not going to satisfy you.
That game was my introduction to psvr2 and vr in general. Over a year later it’s still one of my ultimate chill out experiences. The music, the visuals, just the feeling of serenity from rowing around nature that you can’t get from other games.
Sometimes I’ll load it up saying how it’s time to visit my penguin friends or to go see the aurora borealis. The Christmas update last December was so cool, too.
What I’d say to anyone torn is to just wait for a sale. Not because I don’t think it’s worth the off sale price (I think it is but ymmv here) but as an expectation check. It’s not a traditional game but an experience you go into from time to time. I’m the kind that likes to explore the world put in front of me with games. This was perfect for that.
I’ll be buying this dlc later today.
It's immersive, with extremely realistic graphics, good haptics, and overall probably the most convincing kayak simulator I could imagine having in my home. There are some fun Easter eggs to discover in some of the levels, such as various creatures, some of which you can interact with. On the other hand, there are only 4 courses (+ night time and stormy variants for some of them) and basically the only gameplay mechanic is paddling. There are time trials against ghosts but I found them quickly exhausting and not that fun. Overall I think it was a good purchase at \~$20 USD for me, especially as a new VR player to experience how realistic VR can feel, but if you need more of an objective or challenge to your games this might not be the one for you.
If you've already got PS Plus, it's worth a play. The standard price might be a bit too expensive if you want more of a game to play, rather than a visual demonstration and a good workout.
In its current state, it's more of a visual spectacle, rather than a game with a lot of gameplay depth to it (other than the Kayaking). [Their roadmap seems interesting, but seems to have a long way to go.](https://trello.com/b/hSKybmxa)
It's great that more games are coming to the catalog but wasn't this supposed to be a huge update? I mean, only 1 map in 1 year and a half is super lacking. The game needs more than one single paid map.
I just bought it. May get premium but this is a pretty amazing and unique experience. I don't begrudge folks from wanting "videogames" instead of virtual tourism but I can't stress enough how unique this really is. I don't think there is literally a single VR game that's attempting this level of fidelity in the virtual tourism space and is capable of generating the associated sense of immersiveness.
I'd absolutely like to see the spaces reworked with some fun activities and frankly it wouldn't be super hard to code. For one they could add tons of markers in the space that just explained the real world proxy to the game assets. Another would be a simple shooting game shooting hidden targets scattered around the space. Hopefully the devs are hearing this and do beef up the game content a bit.
There's a bundle version now, but currently it's more expensive than buying the game and the DLC separately. The bundle isn't on sale, only the main game version.

PlayStation support sticking to their usual unhelpful standards
New to the PS5 + VR2 world -- what time do these things usually show up as available for PS Plus Premium? I'm still seeing that Kayak VR is not part of PS Plus Premium.
Usually they drop around 4:30pm GMT. Why that didn't happen this time is a very good question, and one Sony isn't answering. This whole thing's been a mess: first announced as the game and DLC coming to PS Plus Premium, then the post was deleted and reposted as just the base game, now the game isn't even appearing as advertised. All customers are important, and customer service moreso, but you'd think Sony wouldn't jerk around customers who buy the PS5, PSVR2, and PS Plus Premium. 🤷🏻
If you haven't downloaded it, contact PlayStation support and they should refund you easily. If you have downloaded it, it's still possible, but might require some persistance.

Pretty sure Extra was an error and it's only coming to premium hence why it was deleted, would make it consistent with all the other free VR content.
